Project 2 - Grids and Time
IO delves into the life of this young women and her interaction with technology throughout one of her typical day. Although this is a rather simplistic approach to dealing with timelines, this project also tries to show how time can be manipulated by the things we do. Time seems to move more quickly when we are on our phones than reading a real physical book. Or does this notion of bending time only apply to the experience each person builds with technology.
Time has we have seen in one of the lectures in timed based communication II can be rather hard to grasp as a concept. We also tried to convey this complexe idea and phylosohpy behind time and space and hopefully it gives us a better understanding of how lucky we are to be experiencing something so unique.

Project 1 - Book Trailer  Final Version
When working on this project I kept thinking how things seems to always come full circle and you had to grasp this moments and reflect on how you got here. Love is a powerful subject and like time it is a complex concept to grasp and understand. This story of this young women discovering herself and falling in love for the first time at such a late stage of her life compared to most people who fall in love in their teens. This story grabbed me because I understand to some extant how these felling can change so much about ourselves, our life, our perspective of everything.
To show this tragic love story I though the best way would be to frame each character as a sort of avatar of how I have seen them along other readers. I when on message boards, asked friends who have read the book to get the biggest sample size possible regarding who these characters were and how they were seen by readers.
To represent them I went with materials we can find in nature but also materials that can be shaped to be either beautiful and fragile or ugly and durable. The materials can also be shaped by the environment much like the way people are shaped.
The trailer is shown from a very abstract point of view but I wanted the trailer to have a certain rhythm similar to what you would find in a movie’s three acts. I introduce the character, she falls in love and I won’t spoil the end but if you read the book the trailer will make more sense.

The whole process behind the creation of this short film can be found here but due to time constraints we went into a different direction.
