hello I just want to drop in to say that if and when I do another bracket on here I not only will accept any wins that are gotten through cheating but I borderline encourage it. if you can find a way to cheat at tumblr polls that doesn't break anyone's computer or anything then I support you 100%. joining the war on voter fraud on the side of the voter fraud.

hi its @riveracheron you all know the drill by now. murder time.

inspired by @the-joker-of-musicals and just the . act of putting tumblr tropes onto musical characters i decided i wanted to host a bracket for my personal favorite trope:

the failgirl/girlfail/girlfailure/pathetic woman, whatever u call it.

women who are just so messy and pathetic and maybe a little evil but kinda bad at it - yknow your. sasha waybrights and your toralei stripes and your helene bezukhovas

there are So many in musicals and so. they should kill eachother

aaaanyway. here are the rules:

- right now i am . going to accept only female characters - malefailures are their own trope and the flavor is much different than girlfails, at least to me. i’ll probably do a malefail bracket after, because musicals have a lot of those.

- because of the openness of the trope, i will also accept characters from other types of song-based medium, whether thats cabaret, song cycles, operas, musical movies, concept albums, etc. stuff like razia’s shadow, repo or even mechanisms albums are fine here! they’re not technically musicals but. idk the tropes a little niche and i want spots to fill. basically if it uses singing to tell a story, it works here.

- i will be selecting characters based on how much they embody the trope and number of submissions, not how much i like them. this isn’t a popularity contest, and id rather people vote based on their tropeyness and propaganda as well. also,

- i also have the right to refuse any submissions that i find in poor taste, which will not Exclude any musicals from general submissions but i will be screening all of the submissions.

- please. think about what you submit and the real world ramifications of it. i would not feel comfortable calling someone from say, Parade, a failure girl because of the subject material. i know a lot of musicals are dark and talk about real world situations and issues, but there’s a difference between the way history is portrayed in Six versus how it’s portrayed in the aforementioned Parade.

- as always there is room for propaganda! please tell me about why your blorbo should win. i’ll be looking into the ones i don’t know, but i would love to hear anything straight from the source.

this isn’t intentional audrey ii propaganda necessarily but i saw a little shop of horrors production when i was like nine and for months afterwards I was terrified audrey ii was going to crawl through the drain in my shower and eat me so i made up another man-eating plant so she could have a friend and hopefully not eat me but then it got a bit out of control and i invented like thirty people-eating-related ocs for my brain and i kept them in a mental garden and had to say goodnight to all of them every night (so they didn’t eat me) and this continued for about a year until I forgot about all of it and became normal again but every so often something (like this poll) reawakens that part of me and the memories all come creeping back (much like audrey ii. through my childhood shower drain.)

just as a show of hands, how many followers of this blog have had dreams or vivid psychic visions about the poll contestants?

faq/rules:

"what does joker/tumblrman mean?" I'm trying to get as close to the classic definition of tumblr sexyman as I can without the sexy part, as I'm an adult and some of the iconic characters are minors. this combination of terms was about as close as I could figure, think of them just as "unsexy sexyman," really.

"how should I choose whom to vote for?" any which way you like. I'm going by levels of iconic, but I know rules for how to vote are completely unenforceable so I'm simply embracing it. add up the numerical values of characters' names and vote for whoever has the higher value, idc.

etiquette guidelines: guys please be nice these are literally tumblr character polls. don't insult anyone directly, don't make serious accusations about everyone who voted [x] or likes [y] show, and do not threaten self harm if a poll doesn't go the way you want. I really cannot stress that last one enough, it is deeply upsetting to read. if you genuinely feel that upset about this bracket, then either you block me or I'll do it.
