Lets Talk about Fabian Cortez

Yesterday, an interesting conversation happened between @sebastianshaw​ and me.

Basically, we realised that the reason why Fabian Cortez content is so enjoyable and why he is so hate-able is because the man is realistic.

We, as the comic readers, cannot quite find too much of an emotional connection to Galactus or Thanos destroying universes and planets and shit. Sure, it is sad or epic or something but it has no impact on us in that way.

Fabian Bitchass Cortez, however, is a realistically scaled villain. He is, sadly,a guy we could meet in every day life. He is the manipulator, the fuckboy, the catcaller - He is the guy we wanna punch in the groin. He is way too realistic. It is why

1. We hate him

2. We ‘love’ him because there is NOTHING AS ECSTATIC AS HIM GETTING PUNCHED AND THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES FOR THE EXECUTOR.

3. The retcon of his character and backstory in Way of X is utter fucking bullshit because men like Cortez do not deserve some nice excuse to be who they are so we feel sorry for them. Punch him again.

4. He is not fucking invincible to the normal human.

Just punch him. I want the ecstasy of seeing the villains of our every day life beaten.

I suppose you might need to worry. . .” He was thinking about the kind of noises she might make in the throes of passion, of course. “But have no fear!” he puffed his muscular chest out once more, “Should any little birdies come flying by, I assure you, The Power is more than prepared to clip their wings.” They should never, ever have given him that title.
