Excerpt:
"Some fruity goodness?" he asked, almost drawing on his brother's lips with it like something akin to lip gloss that made him want to lick the sticky fluid off.
Then, to his utter surprise when his brother's eyes stayed closed, Ubbe sucked the little piece of mango into his mouth. The velvety tongue of his accidentally brushed over Hvitserk's finger and caused him to bite his lower lip at the feeling. He quickly cleared his throat, "More?"
"Sure," his brother replied, appearing to still have his eyes closed at first, but when Hvitserk dared to sneak a look over the rim, their gaze met and he swallowed nervously. "What are my options?"
"Uhm, more mango, some dragon fruit, pear, strawberries, uhh– something I have not identified yet– and a couple slices of apple." Hvitserk said as he stared into the bowl. "It came with some chocolate and champagne."
"Hm, fancy." His brother snorted and Hvitserk couldn't help but laugh along with him. "Let me guess, you already ate the chocolate?"
"It's warm, it would've melted otherwise…" he argued and barely suppressed the shrug that his limbs unavoidably felt the urge to go along with.

"What really fascinated me about Emma from the beginning is that she is a strong character. She's so ambitious and very, very intelligent, which is her biggest strength, I would say. And what makes her really extraordinary, also, she, in a good way, uses her mind—her intelligence—as a weapon, but not in an aggressive way, but in a good way."

Viking women, if they were left behind, were ruling their town. They were earls in their own right; they owned land in their own right. They could divorce their husbands if they wanted to. All of those wonderful allowances that were made for women in the Viking culture weren’t really part of the Christian culture at the time
