The obnoxious heir you'll be stuck with for a while. Might as well get comfortable? They're hot-headed and come across as fussy at first glance but you'd be stunned to see how they behave towards people they admire.

Akiyo | The Rich Mage | [F]

Akiyo is a well known mage from the neighboring country dispatched to Kabot to go on the event just like the rest of the contestants. Having a not so subtle appearance, what exactly is her motive for being there?

Saeko | Vengeful Executioner| [F]

Saeko, not bothering to conceal her intentions, claims to attend this year's Kabot to have an opportunity of battling a particular individual. Her cold and calm demeanor is enough to make the most composed slightly anxious.

Dante | Slick-Tongued Rah | [M]

Your truest friend since childhood, Dante has been with you since you were first discovered. As loyal as ever, he decides to join the Kabot Tournament along with you as he refuses to let you go alone. But is his intentions really that?

Zephyr | Glad-of-War | [M]

The Battle god, as some might call him, Zephyr being from a well known family of knights, enters the tournament much to everyone else's fear and resentment. With his level of skill all you can do is hope he isn't the opposition.

Fai | The Gentle Mute | [M]

A quiet man that often secludes himself away from other contestants, he appears to enjoy spending time with animals rather than people. One can only wonder what he's really like with his emotions.

Kaisen | The Sleepy Mod | [M]

One of the Modakabots in charge of overlooking the tournament. Describing him as blunt and dry would be an understatement as he lacks a filter. But with all the connections he has being a Modakabot, does he know more than he is letting on?

??? | The Unhinged stranger | [F]

A heavily sarcastic and conflict-loving woman would be the best way to interpret her as it is impossible to dismiss the wild grin across her lips as she fights, taunting her opponents till they wreck. With her intense persona, one does wonder what her reason is for attending the tournament.

Rem | Egocentric merchant | [M]

Rem is a not so friendly merchant who is assigned in your group, ready for battle alongside you. Ready for battle until you realize he is a merchant in a tournament filled with a high possibility of death and he is, again, in your group. His rude behavior at first conflict is enough for any friendliness towards him from anyone to disappear even from the nicest person. Good luck being grouped with him :)

Kaitlin | Friendly air-head | [F]

Kaitlin can only be described as naive as you will have to drag her away from even drinking a bottle of water clearly labeled as poison. She is too nice for her own good and it might be your responsibility to make those tough decisions for the poor gal.

Nag Walan | The Town Witch | [F]

The old crazy lady in your village. Her actual name is known as she goes by what people have named her now, Nag Walan (crazy lady). Your relationship with her is all up to you as she may be your number one supporter in the tournament!

I know that Deziree gets most of the love here because just as the Doctor is psychopathic. 90% of the readers here are angst junkies. But hello! Give my guy/girl/child Levi some love because holy shit!

Maybe it was implied from the description or from other asks but I'm just clarifying The Doctor's so called powers. In the story's universe is the doctor's ability one of a kind? Did other people not know that red strings can be altered until they met the doctor or have heard of them? Are there no news of this extraordinary ability from others? Or do other people have them but we as an audience and the characters in the story dont know because other people are just better at hiding it?

1) Yes. It is a one of a kind ability, and the only reason the doctor is rich. Even if the doctor tries to teach someone, it wouldn't work due to certain circumstances. 🤭

2) Also correct~! It's uncommon for people to see the red strings but not zero. Unfortunately, none of them other than the doctor are able to differentiate the red strings or even touch it since it's all looks and colored the exact same with their vision.

Yet, amid these innovations and developments, lurking dangers remained ever-present. Holly, the Patron of Lys, assumes the guise of a long-haired housecat, but her true essence hails as a revolutionary from a distant reality, a realm of unparalleled advancement far beyond the scope of Vestria. For Holly, her presence in this foreign world feels akin to embarking on an elaborate holiday excursion plucked from the very pages of historical books she once heard of. Her insatiable curiosity serves as the driving force behind her existence, propelling her to seek new experiences and infusing every interaction with a buoyant energy that suggests no challenge is insurmountable. Unafraid to vocalize her thoughts and opinions, Holly fearlessly shares her insights, even when they clash with those of her companion, Lys, particularly when the subject of her candid musings centers around you. Or at least, that is the impression you choose to hold. Her unabashed honesty may lead some to believe that she is a simple, unassuming creature. However, the more time spent with Holly reveals that there is much more to her than meets the eye. After all, one cannot lead a revolution based solely on a smile and an unfiltered mouth.

✸ Elli Agilulf (M)

The Blessed Ones, the esteemed right and left hand of the Night Church, are figures known to all who have ventured beyond the confines of ignorance. Cloaked in an aura of mystery, their veiled faces lend an air of both authority and enigma. Among their ranks is Elli, who strives to embody the idealized image of a Blessed One. He adheres to a code of silence, speaking only when necessary and responding with a detached aloofness. True to form, he carries himself with an air of subtle intimidation. However, beneath his carefully crafted facade, Elli is easily rattled by even the slightest inconvenience or a quick-witted remark, his frustration and anger palpable despite his hidden face. He is short-tempered and stubborn, a nature that clashes with the expectations of his position. As a Blessed One, he is expected to be a mindless automaton, devoid of thoughts or personal desires, but Elli's mind is a swirling vortex of thoughts and emotions, overflowing with complexity. Perhaps it is this contradiction, this clash between his true nature and the expectations placed upon him, that makes Elli an actual enigma. You do feel yourself challenged when he decides that you are a criminal to-become.

✸ Irydion (F)

Irydion holds a perspective that challenges the notion of victory being achieved simply through diplomatic agreements and signed papers. To her, a war is not truly won until she has exacted revenge to those she deems responsible for the suffering inflicted upon her country. As a member of the militia, she is fueled by a desire to fight, her hands trembling with the power of her magic, ready to unleash it upon her enemies on the frontline. While others may perceive an undisturbed silence on the battlefield as a sign of these so called peacetimes, Irydion remains vigilant, recognizing it as a deceptive tactic used by the enemy to lure her into dropping her guard. Too bad she is always a step ahead of those who seek to harm her people! Her selfless dedication to protecting and caring for her fellow countrymen is unwavering, even if it means being seen as misguided or paranoid by those who don't fully understand her. Irydion's allies may acknowledge her kind-hearted nature, but they also recognize her single-minded determination and unwavering belief in the necessity of fighting back against an enemy that is just a shadow. Irydion does not care for these rumors, knowing that regardless of how many may stand against her, they will eventually come to understand the truth of her cause. She remains steadfast, believing that time will prove her right in the end. After all, you believe her… right?

✸ "Junius" (M)

Even as Irydion's patron, the line between their roles blurs, with Junius' approach to her and other humans carrying an arrogantly nonchalant air. His actions, delivered with ease and naturalness, ridicule or charm one without noticing. With a mere lazy wink or a mockish bow, he effortlessly asserts a sense of superiority, deliberately refraining from putting genuine meaning or depth in his antics. Maintaining an elusive detachment, he keeps others at arm's length, preventing them from ever truly getting close to him. Despite his mysterious past, he carries himself as if the weight of secrets hold little significance to who he is. Junius' personality dances on the edge of daring, akin to playing with fire, drawing allure and enticement from the very act itself. He fearlessly indulges in flirting with married women and engaging in challenges with those of higher social standing, defying conventional norms and embracing a provocative existence. There lies a subtle irony in his guise — a wolf rather than a lion — his pride speaking for another form. And even in conversation, he adeptly maintains the facade, never allowing his act to waver, leaving you to question whether it is indeed a carefully crafted performance or indeed the reality of his character.

The sky darkens.

Alistar: Ascendance is a cyberpunk, dystopian romance interactive fiction that was originally intended to simply be a story, before its writer (me) decided to be impulsive and turn it into an IF.

The first person you meet once you arrive on the Surface, you and Seven have a unique bond. He’s got a reputation in the slums and Neon for being great at parties, but his friendliness can easily be read as something more.

Is it something more? Further observations will have to be made…

THE SURVIVOR

Saturn. 23, Lawful Evil. Bartender.

“Keep your head down, and you’ll survive.”

The quiet bartender has a curious perspective on things. He seems to have no problem with the HIVE members patrolling his bar, even serving them drinks like they’re normal customers, despite their heavy armor and edges that are too sharp to be humane.

He also doesn’t seem to be particularly interested in you in the slightest. Why’s that?

THE DIPLOMAT

“Is it better to live in quiet solitude, your voice stripped and taken—or would you rather have died, knowing your voice was the loudest amongst them all?”

Chain. 23, alignment unclear. Current occupation unknown.

He’s someone to keep an eye out for. While he hasn’t practiced his craft in years, he may still prove to be dangerous. Just as friendly as Seven, but far more difficult to truly befriend.

The HIVE member patrolling Saturn’s bar. Part of something greater than he is, but he’s a part of it, regardless. Keep him around…

Argos: Neutral Good. Age unknown. The deity whose spear you brandished, after his passing. He was a good man, but the fact only makes your sins rest heavier in your heart.

Teacher: True Neutral. Around ~200 years old. The chasm-dwelling shadow who taught you all you know of the Chasm and its residents.

Alistar: alignment unknown. Around ~200 years old. That’s you! You’re Alistar. At least, that’s what the world has been calling you ever since you ended the war and revitalized humanity, so that is what you will be referred to as throughout the entirety of the story. However, if you’d like to change your name (as Alistar is the default) you may!

As I am primarily an author (as in I literally have done nothing else with my life) I am new to coding (I took ONE coding club in fourth grade) and am trying to write out and perfect a chapter before converting it into typical IF form.

Once I manage to get things situated, I’ll started to code. I’m currently almost done writing chapter 4, so I’ll start working on coding once I finish it.
