some people think writers are so eloquent and good with words, but the reality is that we can sit there with our fingers on the keyboard going, “what’s the word for non-sunlight lighting? Like, fake lighting?” and for ten minutes, all our brain will supply is “unofficial”, and we know that’s not the right word, but it’s the only word we can come up with…until finally it’s like our face got smashed into a brick wall and we remember the word we want is “artificial”.

Bryce couldn't breathe. He couldn't speak.

All he could manage in that moment was a quiet, defeated whimper.

Liam lay in front of him, eyes barely fluttering open, breathing shallow and slow, as sticky red blood pooled around his torn body.

Bryce fell to his knees, landing on something. It felt as if it was a pebble, but upon closer inspection, Bryce felt sick to his stomach. As if he wasn't already sick enough.

It was one of Liam's zippers.

"...Bryce.....?"

Bryce felt tears form as Liam croaked out his name. He grabbed his bloodied hands gently and tried desperately to hold back tears.

"It's okay, you're gonna be okay, I'm gonna help you-"

"Bryce. I..It's okay."

"What..?"

Bryce let a single tear stream down his face.

"I.... I don't have m..much time left. I woul..wouldn't bother with saving me."

Bryce couldn't hold it back anymore. He erupted into agonizing sobs, begging Liam to hold on just a little longer. But even he could hear Liam's breathing slowing by the second.

"I guess.... th.."

Liam paused for a moment.

"This is.. it.." he whispered with a gentle smile. "I-I'll.."

"You'll wh- what-?" Bryce choked through sobs.

"I'll te.. tell Airy yo-.. you s-..said hi," Liam breathed, laughing his singsong laugh one last time.

"Goodnight, Bryce.."

And just like that–the last breath of air escaped his tattered throat.

Dark gray splotched cat: Bryce/[tbd warrior name]

Light gray cat: Amelia/[tbd warrior name]

In this au, the objects who live like humans are now kittypets, and the objects who live with humans are now rogues/loners. Airy is a dark forest cat whos always wanted to start his own clan. So with some dark forest magic he teleported these random cats to the dark forest so he could fulfill his dream.

But once they got there, he didn't get the reaction he wanted. All the cats wanted to leave. So he decided to let them leave one by one, pretending that he was choosing at random.......... he's not👃

Their new object names are the warrior names that Airy assigned them once the cats got there. And the challenges are "clan bonding exercises" or just simple patrols.
