[Spoilers for Mob Psycho 100 s3e9]

After last week's disappointment (the aliens), I'm glad to say episode 9 brought me unending pleasure! So, here's a list of things this episode did that brought me joy:

We actually got much more of tsubomi's pov in the anime, than we got in the manga. I understand that Manga Tsubomi is strictly through Shigeo's (and now and then Ritsu's) eyes and that is cool in its own way, but whew, it's really nice to see her being a character instead of just the idea of one. (I'm going to write a full post about her - I'll let you know when that's up!).

Serizawa is pretty much the only person who seems to genuinely see Reigen's true self, but rather than going along with his ruses/lies for the sake of "the flow", he just seems to accept that people don't actually have their shit together - that he didn't waste as much time as he'd thought, and by going to school and working with s&s, he's actually able to live a pretty normal life. He's happy with the way things are, not just complacent like he was with Claw. (I will also make a longer post about this - I'll let ya know when!)

Okay, serious points are said, from here on they're a bit dumb ahaha!

Takenaka revealing Tome isn't a girl 😱😱😱 this is a joke but I like thinking Tome is agender like me, so even though his comment was more along the lines of "ugh as if she knows what girls want, she's a weirdo 🙄" it just gave me fuel for my headcanon, sorry! Agender person who uses she/her because tbh we like these ones well enough, and have much more important things to think about (like the occult) 😩😩

RITSU SITTING SO FORMALLY IN FRONT OF SHIGEO I CRIED oh ritsu if you want to be closer with him,,,, you,, you have to act normal around him,,,, lmao. And oh Shigeo feeling more confident because Ritsu is nervous for his sake (aw I love my favourite brothers ever) and the little 🙏🙏 Ritsu does while Shigeo's on the phone, this guy is so funny for no reason

Ending at the car-crash: AS IT SHOULD BE!!!!! I thought it might end the episode there for shock value and oh it did NOT disappoint!! The way everything just stayed static there for like.. a full minute with the crosswalk tune playing? Masterpiece! Also RIGHT after he used his powers in FULL public???? Of his own choice??? Shigeo really did grow so much!!! Like I said!! S3 is about his finale of self acceptance and it's coming in like a steamtrain!!!! (And also maybe it's unnecessary to mention and I'm sorry, but him saving the cat vs being unable to save the cat during the Mogami arc is a parallel I'm unable to remove from my mind)

Side note, anime-onlies I'm SO sorry for the whiplash you received/will receive at the end of the episode!! I'm sending you the strength to survive until next Wednesday!! I remember the crash happening in the manga and me going feral about it haha! This arc is So Good.

Also I love the body improvement club so much they're so silly I'm so glad Shigeo knows them and has them in his life 😭

As for more in the universe, I have a small-ish follow-up I’m working on. TITM’s coming up on the 1k kudos mark on AO3 😱🤯, so I thought to maybe do a wedding sequel as a 1k celebration. I’m about 20% done with it at this point. Given how slow I am at writing with my hectic life schedule right now, we’ll see when I can get that out. Hopefully before summer of next year.

As for my other fics, I am still working on those as well. Next update will be for TWWCIL. I’ve got about 65% of the full story written, but of course it’s mostly towards the end. Once I finish fleshing out the middle, I’ll be able to rewrite chapter 4 and start a more regular update process. After that will be Chapter 8 of OSAS, the full story which has about 7 more chapters left to write before it is finally complete and we can post it regularly as well. And then I’ll post the 2 part Chilton AU, the Lit + cats au, and then finally the time loop AU I’ve been writing in my head for like four years.

So a lot of things to come. I just really need the time to be able to sit down and write. Thought I would have it this year, but my car got taken from me at the beginning of this year due to theft and vandalism, which was a huge loss cause my car IS my livelihood. I make majority of my money from driving gigs, and now that I’m spending about $500 a week with the rental I have while also making less money than before due to constraints of the rental program, it’s been a lot of expenses that I’m juggling at the moment. Once I’m able to buy a new car, I can go back to my ideal three day/weekend work week and get back to writing semi regularly.

October Book Wrap Up

We've reached the end of October 😢 I've enjoyed this month so much focusing largely on horror books. I've grown quite fond of the horror genre and I'll be sure to read more before 2022 ends. It's been great adding more magic into my life through dark academia which I realized infuses a lot of magical realism, science-fiction, and fantasy. somehow also found the first book to ever offend me so much I wanted to tear it into pieces.

Total books read: 21 books 📚 Just 3 shy of my dream goal but I met my minimum. Sleeping Beauties by Stephen King took me out of commission for a few days. It was incredibly long and while I enjoyed it immensely it drained so much of me so I recommend never starting a book month with one of King's unless it's all you plan on only reading that month.

Favorite books: Ghost Road Blues by Jonathan Mayberry. Perfect amount of lovable characters combined with characters I hate, creepy, good dash of humor, easy-to-follow plot despite multiple characters and events happening, and great twists! It's considered horror but at least for the book in the series (can't wait to read the other two) this reads more like a thriller to me.

The Book Theif is a genuine masterpiece and that's all I need to say.

Perish by LaToya Watkins is a hard, traumatic read but it's so so worth the read. My review is here

Book I expected to love more but didn't: The Picture of Dorian Grey. Don't get me wrong; it's a wonderful book. I rated it a 4.25. Considering how much praise it receives I was expecting to be obsessed and in love but instead, I put it down and said, "good, but I don't think I'd pick it up again." Glad to have it off my list.

My least favorite book: Angelika Frankenstein Makes Her Match. I have never hated a book as much as I did but this one set me on edge and I had to put it down and skim it because it just kept getting worse and worse. Here's my lovely review.

Favorite Horror book: Kill Creek by Scott Thomas. I was absolutely enamored with all the authors and how well-written each character was. Ending was a perfect twist that I loved and I loved how Thomas explored the different avenues of horror through each character.

3 - favorite line/scene you wrote this year

AaaaHHHHakskkssk okay this is SUCH a good question!! I have no idea where to start! 😅 Overall favorite scene I'd say iiisss.....probably Mads and Gyro on the couch in Blame Gravity chapter 5...but I'm not spoiling it. 👀 Also I'm a little more iffy on the whole scene here but for whatever reason I'm really fond of this "ten paces" line that you'll see in the next update:

Flustered and furiously blushing, Gyro began to stammer. MD silently and deliberately moved his token along the board, looking up with a devilish grin.

"I win."

But Gyro was still about ten paces and a sentence back. "I'm not -- I never said -- MD!"

3. What fandom(s) from the past did you return to?

Oh my gosh I’m so glad you asked this because I totally thought of my answer when I reblogged that post!!!

RAWHIDE!!!!!!

So a couple years ago I got into those old western shows. They were on TV and they’re quite fun and there is some DARN good whump in there, too!! ;) So after a long break (I can’t remember when I sort of shelved it), I came back and finished watching ALL of the episodes of Rawhide! It’s a fun show, but it definitely started to lag at the end (even re-using the EXACT same storylines - however, one was a whumpy storyline and it gave another character the chance at whump hehehehe).

But yes, I came back to finish Rawhide last year and it was fun!

5. What creative work are you most proud of (your own or someone else’s)?

Well, since last year was the year of me actually WRITING :P I’m super proud of all my work! So because I’m horrible at picking just one, I’m doing my top three:

Rescue - My first jdrama fic and I put SO many of my favorite tropes in here!!! I was simply GIDDY while writing it!! I love just reading it :P

Two of a Kind - Ooooooh my gosh I never knew it would be so much fun writing Hwang Shi Mok!!! I so want to write more in the ‘Stranger/Secret Forest’ fandom! The show (both seasons!!) are simply fantastic and the characters are so much fun to write!!!

Betrayal - Hehehehehe!!! I do love me some Gu Dong Mae whump with an extra helping of concerned Yuzo! ;) The reason why this one makes the cut is because this is part of a larger fic I have planned that will explore his (well, their) background and I’m SUPER excited to write it!!

Bonus!

Cat and Mouse - OH MY GOSH THE RESEARCH THAT WENT INTO THIS!!!!! 😱😱😱😱😱 Never before have I done so much real life research (as in researching actual places and stuff) so I could get all the descriptions EXACTLY right!! Hahahaha!

7. Which character did you relate to most this year?

Ooooo....this one is hard. I watched a LOT of dramas this year (see THIS post), but I think I can probably relate to is Fan Xian from Joy of Life - He just wants to live an uneventful, happy life. SAME!!! But thankfully, I’m not likely to go on any sort of epic and dangerous adventure like him 🤞🤞🤞

Uff, yeah, S2 Kara was MUCH better and stronger than her later versions and that despite still having a lot of growing up to do (e.g. “I’m the Girl of Steel, I don’t bend/break/run” was definitely sth she should have grown out of, it doesn’t make sense to NOT retreat in certain situations and being reckless and running into a situation without a good game plan literally doesn’t help anyone…) And the whole boss girl trope is kinda ridiculous since all it ever ends up doing is make the “boss girl” look like an annoying child playing wannabe😫 

And yuup… At this point I kinda want sth messed up to happen in the future just so Kara will get a grip, go to the future, save her man like the badass she always was supposed to be and both stop taking being a hero as an excuse to ignore their feelings for each other…😫

Oh, right😅 The crows were still teenagers, right? I always deliberately forget that in favour of imagining them as adults🙈🤣

And ohhh, yes, love triangle with all of them ending up together would be fine, too🤔 I actually even stumbled upon a Shadow&Bone fanfic that not only kinda retrospectively fixes the mess the books made while being mostly canon-compliant, but also really does build up to three of them ending up together🤔 The Crows aren’t in it tho apart from a mention or two since it’s based on the Shadow&Bones books, not show😔

Ohh, right, there was DESTINY, too😅 Totally forgot about that one🙈 

Yeah…TW is weird nowadays… Maybe it should habe just ended with Season 3… But Melissa and Chris was awesome, I didn’t really expect that since everyone has always been going on about the Sheriff and Melissa (which I still think would have been a “meh” choice)… Seems like Chris’ and Melissa’s are always a good couple to have around😉😂 

Oh, haha, I suppose that does make it easier 😅 Tho weren’t there rumors about that being his name all the way back in S1/S2?🤔 (Mieciu? Is that pronounced like Mi-shi? Sounds kinda cute🤣 Tho I still don’t get why he has a polish first name when the “Stilinski” is from his father’s side and his Dad’s name is freaking Noah… Even his Mom was just normal Claudia…😅🙈) 

I think I might just have accidently spoiler-ed myself😅 Googling the Lightbringer series and esp. Gavin and Kerris and reading up on them was definitely a very stupid idea😅🤦🏻‍♀️ But whatever, I still wanna read all of it😍 Ohh, it has other universes?😍😍😱 

Yeah, be glad… Between the SQ and SC fandom drama, I really sometimes wish I had just stuck with Charmed, Digimon and Tony Stark fanfics😅 The world seemed like a much better place back in those days (even after Captain America Civil War…😅) 

Haha, yess, put them on the list 😈 (Riordan’s got books only re-telling the greek myths too if you feel like reading sth funny but don’t want to go through all 5 PJO books, 5 Heroes of Olympus books and the new Apollo series)

I mean, we have to add to it Kara s3 to, I think, because she was kicking asses. But after that. I know Mel said she wanted to be a team player, not stand alone hero, but the writers didn’t handle it well. Because we didn’t get Kara and friends, but Kara made dumb and weak, while screaming strong, because her friends (and her torturers) needed to shine. I mean, naming the final ep KARA and then giving her nothing was a perfect conclusion of her story.

Do you know The Devil wears Prada movie? I feel like the writers saw it, decided to make Cat like the boss, Kara like the main character and then totally lost interest with developing her. And in the end, i feel Kara strolling in the CatCo and screaming chop! chop! on everyone.

Also, seriously, she started to have problem with her identity and wanting to be boss in the last 3 eps? SWEET JESUS

Ahahah… I have that super angsty idea for her kid coming from the future and being super angry at her for a good reason :)

Yeah, teens, acting like 30 years old bitter experienced master levels in everything. But well, one of the better YA, I think.
