His Pureness chooses her for his mate before she has finished branching. It’s an honor. Her parents bow their heads and offer her to him.

She learns, quickly, that to be honored is rarely to be loved.

For years, she is his. Her position gives her an illusion of power and a taste of freedom when she patrols the forests of Tyto for new blood.

She sees him branching, so young and so proud and so fit to be molded to purity.

Nyra chooses Kludd for her mate, and they plot high treason.

This time, she will be in control.

#finally someone points out kludd and nyras age gap my god #its also implied that the previous high tyto had picked nyra when she was really young too so yikes! #glad the cycle got stopped with coryn

concept sketch for a guardians of ga’hoole Oc I’ve had floating around in my head

they were hatched on a solar eclipse, rather than a lunar eclipse. some weird effects stemmed from it - with the disc of their face becoming silvery-white, rather than the face itself like traditional nyrolian owls. Their parents had decided to follow the naming tradition anyways, figuring - they were born on an eclipse, even if it wasn’t a lunar eclipse, so they should follow the same naming convention.

Haven’t fully fleshed out this guy yet but I’ll post more later maybe

I decided I wanted to make some comics of some of the scenes in the series, I figured what would be better than to start with the first scene. Fun fact, the font I used for this and the other gahoole comic is the font used in the physical copies of the books

Big shoutout to the Guardians Of Ga’hoole movie that came out 14 years ago and still absolutely beats the shit out of almost every modern 3D animated animal film

Look at the feather detail!!!! they look plenty realistic and still retain the key points of exaggeration to make the animation have that Life to it

Not to mention how GORGEOUS this film is???

an entire scene, in a thunder storm, above the ocean, half of it in slow mo, with birds made of hyper detailed feathers flying in and out of the water..

LOOK AT THE WAY THE WING FEATHERS ARE GETTING FRAYED IN THE STORM!!!!!!!
