I just watched a documentary on Youtube about schools in my region, teaching primary school children in our regional language as immersion classes, and I’m so so proud of these children that I started crying, they probably dont even know how important they are for preserving our language and culture. I’m sad that my generation was skipped and I don’t speak it fluently but it’s still such an immensely important part of my identity that I’d be so sad if it died out with its last fluent speakers who are currently 50+. This gave me so much hope. The students could speak it with seemingly no difficulty :’)
