PLEASE DON'T KILL ME, PLEASE DON'T KILL ME, PLEASE DON'T KILL ME!! is all Mira can think about when Izzy shows up to her booth, some crazy killer instinct gleaming in her eyes. She doesn't even say anything, she just slides over a set of Christmas-ornament-printed balls and ducks behind the counter.

It's a haphazard throw, with the ball barely glancing off the top and knocking over only a few bottles. Mira peeks out from beneath the counter, waiting to see what Izzy will do next.

🐮 + Blanc waves to Mira as he wanders over. "Curious where the odds will be for me today."

"Hello hello! You came just in time. I'm getting ready to pack up here!" Most of her stock is in boxes but she's not one to deny a guest a shot while she's still on the clock.

After taking one look at the Sawsbuck accompanying the guy, she decides on a set of brown and yellow balls, the colors of winter Deerling. "Good luck!"

Blanc manages to knock over a good portion of the stacked bottles, enough to win a prize!

"Congrats! Most of my plushes are boxed right now but you can pick the one you want from this poster and I'll fish it out for you..." She slides over a laminated sheet of her medium-sized plush inventory over to Blanc. "That or you can claim a free meal voucher!"

🏀 This is not like throwing Pokeballs, but he is confident regardless--fake it till you make it. "Can I try my hand at this, please?"

"Hey, there! Sure you can! Last throw of the night." This guy is also familiar but Cam OBVIOUSLY recognizes one of the Subway Bosses when he sees one! He's spent enough time in Nimbasa as it is.

Cam tries to pick out as shimmery of a basketball as he has, just so it can match Emmet's outfit. He settles for a light-blue ball with snowflake patterns. "Best of luck, Mr. Emmet."

Unfortunately, Emmet isn't as good at basketball as he is at pokémon battling.

"That's too bad. I could give you some pointers next time, if you want."

🏀 + Red doesn't remember having played this one before, and is mildly curious to see if the game is actually as 'rigged' as people are saying.

"Hey... do I know you?" He stares at Red for a good long bit but that can't be. He's absolutely sure this guy didn't play at his booth last year... he would've remembered. So what is it... oh!

"Y'know, has anyone ever told you you look like that really famous dude from Kanto? What's his name... Red? Wild, isn't it. Anyway, here you go."

The vibes feel right so Cam hands him a basketball with a fiery pattern. "Good luck!"

And that... that is a beautiful throw. The ball sails through the air, straight into the net. A perfect shot. Someone did it! Holy hell, he could cry!

"Yoooooo! You play ball? Congrats, man! You're the first person to do it all festival! What do you want? I've got all these ginormous plushes or a voucher for free food for your entire festival stay!"

Last but not least, it's time for the 🏀 !

Since he's feeling extra confident, he turns to Red right before his throws. He announces, pointing a finger at his boyfriend: "This one is for you." with a romantic wink before throwing his ball!

Wow, this guy looks really confident. Does he actually know what he's doing? That is yet to be seen.

Something about this guy just screams green, so he hands him a green ball with boughs of holly all over it and then flashes him a thumbs-up.

Aaaand, boy... that was a lousy throw. Like, 'completely misses the entire basket and lands somewhere in the plushes' lousy. It's probably the worst throw Cam's seen all day. Normally, he'd say something snarky but the guy already looks like he's beating himself up enough on his own. He'll let this one slide.

"Bummer... better luck next time?"

After staring at Svern for a good bit, she decides on a set of orange balls with funky blue star prints all over. "Best of luck!"

It's not a bad throw! Svern manages to knock over a good portion of the stacked bottles, though the bottom layer has barely budged.

"That's still pretty good! You can get either a medium-sized plush or a voucher for a free meal at the concession stands. What will it be?"

He got a little distracted with everything else, but he sure wants to try all games before they close! Honoring his maybe high dexterity, Green arrives to try out the 🐮 !

Mira stares long and hard at Green. This guy looks so so so so SO familiar but she can't put her finger on why. Then, as if suddenly remembering her manners, she begins to laugh sheepishly.

"So sorry about that! Welcome to MooMoo Milk Knock-off, the best game at the Village Bridge Holiday Festival!" She sounds quite proud. No doubt a certain Holiday Hoop-as booth runner is making faces at her from across the way right now.

"Here you go, hun!" The set of balls that Mira slides him over has cute little Eevees all over it.

WHOA! What an arm! Green manages to knock off ALL the balls off the stand with one solid throw!

"Amazing!! Congratulations! You win our grand prize! What can I get for you?"

Green has the choice of an enormous plush of a CUTE pokémon or a voucher for free festival food for one whole day!

🐮It occurred to Hilbert that he hasn't gone for this particular game. Might as well try it while he can, right?

"Hi there, cutie! You look familiar!" Mira looks quite chipper as Hilbert approaches her booth. "You'll find that our game is far superior to Holiday Hoop-as."

From across the way, Cam sticks his tongue out at her. At this point, Mira has begun to just ignore him.

"Here you go!" She hands Hilbert a trio of pink balls. "Best of luck!"

Whether it's luck or raw skill, Hilbert manages to knock over all but one of the bottles! Mira cheers.

"Yippee!! You were so close!! It's good enough for a medium plush, though! Unless you'd like a voucher for a free meal? Our plushes are the cutest around, though. Maybe you would like one to gift a special someone?"

Is she fishing for something? Hrmm...

All is normal at Cam's booth, right? WRONG. Here comes a Victini, jumping at the ball Cam holds at full velocity, stealing it from him and flying up into the air with it. Though he stops at a fair distance before chucking the ball as hard as he can at the hoop, at least still trying to play by the rules.

Cam has no idea what's happening... he just something (or someONE) tore the basketball right from his hands. Whatever it was appears to get bored with it because HERE IT COMES....!

The ball just bounces off the hoop and goes off flying in a random direction, leaving Cam blinking, more confused than anything.

Alric's Indeedee beat him to Mira's stall and begin chattering between themselves before pointing at a plush from the big prizes and then from the smaller plushies. Their client is chuckling as he catches up. "I guess I have to give this a try, don't I?" 🐮

"Well, hello hello! Aren't you two a pair of cuties?" Mira coos over the pair of Indeedee before turning to Blue and Alric with a big smile. "I suppose you'd like to give it a try?"

She looks for a set of balls in the same shade of purple as the two Indeedee, with swirly white patterns all along them. "Good luck!"

Unfortunately, Alric only manages to knock over a few of the balls. Mira can feel herself pouting.

"I'm so sorry... Maybe you'll have better luck next time."

Vivi flies above another booth and sees a woman giving a ball to throw at bottles. He waits for the perfect moment to jump in. Then suddenly,

"OH MY ARCEUS! OVER THERE BY THE PRETTY LIGHTS! IS THAT A LAVENDER PSYDUCK?" He says to distract the woman. The moment she turns, he swoops in and grabs a ball. Mid front flip, he throws the ball at the bottles before landing on his feet. Nailed it.

Vivi once again doesn't stick around to see if he even won. He just runs away playfully on the ground this time.

"Hi sir, welcome to Holiday Hoop-as!" Cam waves at Alric as he wheels over, and offers the young lady accompanying him a smile. She must be his daughter. Dang, she's really pretty...

Clearing his throat, he averts his gaze, only to see Didi and Cici flashing him these big ol' watery eyes. He can't help but laugh.

"Alright alright, I'll pick a good ball for him."

Cam ends up handing Alric a dark blue basketball with a starry pattern in honor of the upcoming meteor shower. "Good luck!"

It's a pretty good shot, especially considering the man is handicapped, though it's sadly not enough for a prize.

"That's too bad. Decent shot, though."

It's the last night of the festival and the riverfront stage is lit up with energy! Superstar idols Christoph and Nancy are back again for one final performance, though this time they are joined by the event host, Rosa Vail. Unova's Champion is decked out in full champion regalia and accompanied by a Meloetta in its Aria form. Before the performance starts, Rosa reaches for the mic.

"Good evening, everyone! Before we start our final performance, I wanted to thank each and every one of you for being here with us over the last few weeks. You have helped us turn this holiday season into something unforgettable and we look forward to you joining us again in the future. We hope you enjoy the performance and wish you safe travels when you finally depart!"

As if on cue, Meloetta bursts into a dulcet song and the trio of performers soon follow, singing and dancing their way through a short set list that energizes the crowd and makes the send-off feel surprisingly bittersweet. Even when the show is over, the pokémon's hauntingly beautiful melody won't leave your mind.

Thank you everyone for your participation and support for this year’s festival! With this post, the 3rd Annual Village Bridge Holiday Festival has officially come to a close!

Emme / @unovasrose / @evoblue: Thank you everyone for giving this event a chance despite what tends to be a busy time during the holidays. The festival started as a small event that I ran on my own a few years ago and it's grown into so much more thanks to all the help and love from friends and the community alike. I am so so SO happy! This year has been the biggest and best so far and seeing everyone enjoying themselves truly made all the effort worth it. Lots of love and best wishes for the New Year! (And also shoutout to Psy for all the great ideas, beautiful art, and passionate work she put into this event, I couldn't have done it without her!)

Psyseon / @mirroredranger: This is the first time I've helped run an event like this. It has been a blast and I enjoyed watching everyone's reactions to the various events. Thank you everyone for joining in and making this last year end on a positive note. I also want to thank Emme so much for making this event happen.
