A New Path for the Collective Public Discord

Having existed since 2018, the discord server has gone through a variety of phases and purposes. It has come to the point where in our growth we have developed beyond the original intention of an attachment of the tumblr presence. The question has been asked of whether the server and it's members are served well by the current attachment, and a referrendum of our server members has decided with overwhelming majority that is it time for us to fly the nest and strike out on our own. we will not be removing the collective fully from us - the collective was our origin and home and the origin of everything we have built, but is it my opinion that it is time for us to spread our wings and become something in our own right.

We hold no ill will to the Collective, and we’re grateful for all our experiences there as our foundation for this, and for the friendships we made through it. However, numbers wise, we see some distinction as our discord server has grown in community beyond what isolated tumblr blogs could. For the creative freedom and community of us and our server members, we will be severing official ties to the Collective, in the spirit of freeing our own creative decisions to grow our space going forwards. The server will not be removing our collective members, nor will it become an unwelcome space for those of you who have joined us or will join us - it will simply be becoming a space of it's own, tied to nothing but itself. Remember that one time when tumblr was gonna die a few years back?

The collective made a discord in case that happens. And while things are unlikely to suddenly wipe, if you want to continue the party with the collective, there's no better place to be.

We're open and active right now, so why not get ahead of things and come have a good time?

The collective is still around, we've just migrated to the discord. The tumblr side became a mess and with blogs here closing left and right the best place to find the majority of us is on there!

Hope you don’t mind me asking, but what’s the story of how you got this blog and the adventuring collective started?

You seem like one of the more active members nowadays, but the idea as a whole was pretty fantastic. Plus I’d love a bit of a history lesson on one of my favorite blogs 😃

Sorry for the slow response but I don’t mind answering at all. It’s been, Yeesh, 7 years now? Maybe longer? But I do remember.

See, I made the Wearepaladin blog out of the desire to show my love of the class and do whatever I could to help others understand or inspire them to make their own paladins. It had been something I’d wanted to do for a while, and somehow it grew beyond my expectation, as my method of being sincere about my interest and working hard to provide comprehensive answers to people and doing what I could to inspire them. This I did for about 2 years, and have been doing nearly a decade in total, and don’t see myself stopping anytime soon.

What led to the Collective though was someone asking if knew where they could find other blogs for other classes who did the same thing. I did not, but I liked the idea, and the @wearemage was the first to reach out to me about starting what became the Collective, and from nearly every concept and class you could imagine, we gathered like minded folks and I don’t think I’ll ever be part of something so natural and expressive again.

And I worked to oversee as much of it as I could for a long time, but it was not to be, as I irl got into the healthcare field and I lost a lot of the free time I used to, so I surrendered the collective and just keep watch on my little corner here, though I will always have fond memories and wishes for @theoutcastrogue, @we-are-knight, @weareoracle, @wearecleric, and the dozens of other collective members and supporters. I just couldn’t juggle it all the way I used to.

It’s been quite a journey. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Our server is both still running and one of the most active collective spaces there is! Come along and get inviolved with a diverse, passionate group of tabletop games enthuisasts! We also have spaces for video games, media discussion, memes, pets and all sorts of other great online activities. Come along and have a good time with us in the cyber-space!
