Pokemon Xventures

After arriving back in Lumiose City and watching Clemont and Bonnie light the tower, it was time to take on the gym.

As all of my current Pokemon team had reached their final evolutionary stages, I thought I would add a unevolved Pokemon to my team to help me work on completing the Pokedex, so Skiddo was added to my party.

Dedenne was left in the box for the gym battle, but it was Aurorus who ultimately ended up in the box when the gym battle was over.

Pokemon Xventures

After beating Korrina at the top of the tower, Lucario joined my party.

My first Mega Evolution Pokemon! (In this game anyhow)

I sent Talonflame back to the PC and then picked up Lapras just as I was leaving Shalour City. I taught it the HM Surf and vowed to keep it as my another HM Pokemon, switching it in and out by necessity.

On Route 12 Amaura evolved into Aurorus.

I had brought Talonflame back, switching out Delphox, as I had another fire type and psychic type. However, I made sure Delphox was reinstated to my party as my back-up fire type when I took on Ramos, though Talonflame really had the fighting covered there. Before leaving Coumarine City, I reverted back to my old team of Lucario, Malamar, Dedenne, Aurorus, Talonflame and Venusaur, however after clearing Route 13 and the Power Plant, I found Malamar maybe to be a less effective Psychic than I would have liked and I missed Delphox, so the two were switched when I arrived in Lumiose City.

Pokemon Xventures

Whilst battling trainers in the Reflection Cave, Flecthinder evolved into Talonflame...

... and Braixen evolved into Delphox.

When I finally arrived at Shalour City, I made my way with my friends, Tierno and Trevor, to see the Mega Evolution Guru. Calem and Shauna arrived and I had to battle Calem for the ownership of the Mega Ring. I won and Inkay evolved into Malamar!

Pokemon Xventures

Whilst travelling on Route 11 from Geosenge Town, I realised a Pokemon needed to know Strength, so instead of taking away a move slot from my team, I swapped Pancham in to be my HM slave, teaching her both Strength and Cut. I will continue to swap her in and out depending on when I need to use these HMs.

Ivysaur evolved into Venusaur after defeating a Grunt from Team Flare on the ay to Shalour City.

Outside the Reflection Cave, I caught a Dedenne. As it is one of my favourites from this generation and a dual type (fairy and electric), Floette was sent back to the PC and Dedenne joined my party.

Pokemon Xventures

After returning from the Glittering Cave with the Sail Fossil, Amaura was resurrected and joined my team (replacing Bagon; sorry buddy).

Now, I normally only report the things that make my gameplay unique, like who is on my team as I progress through the story. This is because I figure the storyline and in game events are the same for everyone, so there’s not much news to report to existing players in these sections.

HOWEVER,

I must break with tradition to bare warning and to self criticize.

Do not underestimate this guy:

At the Pokemon Centre, I decide to leave Braixen and Fletchinder in the PC, so that the experience share would have less Pokemon to devide EXP amongst. This way Amaura and Inkay, who were comparitively low level, would level up faster.

At the gym, I steamed most of the trainers and their rock Pokemon with Floette’s Magical Leaf, only using Ivysaur on the last Hiker. Grant, the rock type user, would be a cakewalk...

...Except he wasn’t because his Pokemon were the fossil Pokemon and ergo, dual type with Ice and Dragon and before I knew what was going on, Grant’s Amaura took out my Ivysaur! Oh no!

Floette managed to take Amaura down, despite paralysis and got a good hit in on Tyrunt, but also fainted. It was either a low level Amaura or Inkay.

I chose my Amaura. Fossil vs fossil. Sail vs. Jaw. And thankfully, Amaura won!

That’s the last time I underestimate a gym leader and show up to a gym battle with only four Pokemon!

Yes, in the end up I did get what I wanted and some, as Amaura and Inkay exclusively got the EXP for the gym battle, but it was getting close to the wire towards the end and it could have easily gone the other way.

And the only gym leader I’m comfortable conceding defeat to is this secret boss of Johto:

Pokemon Xventures

Caterpie evolved into Metapod and then Butterfree! I then sent her back to the PC and got Flabebe back out! After defeating Snorlax and walking through the flowerbeds outside the daycare on Route 7, Flabebe evolved into Floette.

To recap, my team at this point was: Floette, Panpour, Ivysaur, Pikachu, Fletchinder and Braixen.

However, when I got through the Connecting Cave and arrived at Ambrette Town, I shook my up team, replacing Panpour and Pikachu with recent catches:

Bagon

and Inkay.

Pokemon Xventures

On the short walk to the Palais (off Route 6), Bulbasaur evolved into Ivysaur.

In my quest to complete the Pokedex, I temporarily put Flabebe back in PC and took out Kakuna, who quickly evolved into Beedrill.

After acquiring the PokeFlute, I took a detour back to Camphrier Town to swap Beedrill out for Caterpie with the hope of evolving it on my way to defeat Snorlax.

Fletchling evolved into Fletchinder after beating a trainer with a Kadabra on Route 5...

... later on the same route, Spewpa evolved into Vivillon (green version).

I want to work on my Pokedex, so as he can evolve no further, I put Vivillon in the PC and swapped him out for Flabebe (yellow version).

Scatterbug evolved into Spewpa after battling a wild Flabebe...

...and Fennekin evolved into Braixen after battling Professor Sycamore at his lab in Lumiose City.

After winning, the Professor let me choose a Kanto starter and I, of course, chose Bulbasaur!

Pansage was regrettably sent back to the PC, as I didn't require 2 grass types.

Pokemon Xventures

I always knew that I would make a not-so-dramatic return to tumblr, but after creating and accidently maintaining a radio silence when life got quite hectic, I needed a catalyst that would propel me back into the magical world of blogging... and here it is!

Many moons ago, I completed Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and have since been working to complete the Pokedex. But now, in enchange for being birthed 20 odd years ago, a feat that involved literally no effort on my behalf, I have obtained Pokemon X. I am several years late to the party, but man, am I enjoying it!

I wrote two entries on my facebook page, documenting my adventures or rather Xventures(! - see what I did there?! *facepalm followed by slow head shake*) since last Thursday. They went down well amongst the Pokefans and were pleasantly ignored by the rest, but I felt like facebook wasn’t the ideal place for me to continue my PokeDiscourse. Then it hit me over the head like a big white t on a blue background - the most natural place for me to start a PokeDiary or PokeBlog was tumblr!

Within minutes of logging back into the site, I knew it was the right choice and I am so happy to be back!

If you’re reading this, I hope you enjoy my PokeUpdates. Anyway, I better not dawdle, as a wise Professor once said to me, “Your very own Pokemon legend is about to unfold...”
