as far as being canon divergent goes, the only change i’m gonna be making is to lip’s sexuality. i won’t be writing him as straight. i’m writing him as bisexual demiromantic. meaning, he can fuck whomever he feels like fucking, but, to gain feelings for someone, he has to have some emotional connection with them. i’ll be writing the demiromantic part of it as something he slowly realized as time went on --- maybe with his time spent at college, but yeah!

one of the biggest reasons i can relate to lip/shameless in general (tho especially lip) is bc of how much i can relate to their fucked up family life. like lip/fiona i had to grow up the fuck too fast just because my caretakers were horrible. my mom has mild psychosis like monica does bipolar, and my dad moved to ukraine, though to be honest when he’s not working he’s an alcoholic too lol. i had to be independent when i shouldn’t have had to. i had to learn to survive without parents because for a fucking while i didn’t have any. idk i just relate to that so much and it’s nice to have something you can relate to like that. especially in the familial aspect of it
