If anyone is wondering what I've been up to: apart from being busy with work I have started writing my very first proper fanfiction and like... It's so much easier than interactive fiction. I've already planned out a little more than 20 chapters. I've started writing the first one, two pages, and we haven't even met the love interest.
Wish me luck!

I am glad to announce that I have written a couple of words again after months of nothing. Does it have to do with the fact that for a week now I've been taking iron supplements again? Who knows!
What I do know is that the descriptions for each witch type's shop are now finished and each of them is about 850 words. I also found another mistake with the interlude that I moved to the achievements while play testing.
Additionally I found out what hot garbage I managed to write for the second part of chapter one, so I am kinda glad I didn't publish that last year XD
On to more fruitful endeavors, I hope!
Hugs and kisses

Well it's gonna be a new (refurbished) laptop folks because there's no monitor available in my circles and also I don't have the space anyway so...
I just ordered it, so it should arrive within this week and hopefully it will do a decent job :)
I don't want to worry anyone but... When I forcefully shut my suitcase close this morning there was a soft little "crick" and now I found out that the crick was in fact my laptop monitor :(
A whole third of it is just a white rectangle in the corner plus it looks like someone splattered black paint across it from the top.
Getting it repaired is probably really expensive and it's about 6 years old already so maybe it's time for a new one :(
Very disappointed I can't play Sims now even though I just bought another expansion pack

hello! i saw your post about your broken laptop, so sorry to hear btwz, but i do not think you should get a new laptop :( as in, buying one from a large company that produces electronics, like Apple. people in Congo, including children are being forced into slave labor to mine cobalt and materials used to make modern-day electronics in rough conditions. cobalt is used in almost every laptop.
people often die from these conditions. instead of giving your money to these horrible companies, I suggest buying a used one off of someone else; maybe someone is selling on Facebook or eBay? used laptops/computers are more cheaper :)
Hello, lovely Anon!
Thank you for your message!
I may have thought of a way to use my laptop for a while longer yet (even though I will have to backup anything I've got on there because I am living a life of risk and haven't yet). If only the display is broken I could probably connect it to a separate monitor and like... maybe a keyboard so I don't have to keep the laptop open but it should probably work? My workplace does that a lot because not every employee has their own tower PC. Nevertheless I need to get some backup storage first before I test that because I have a feeling that the computer will give up for good soon enough. I bought it 6 years ago and we know that that's bordering on Old™ for an electronic device.
Now to alleviate your concern: I do know about the problem and hopefully many other people are aware of it too.
When my Old Friend finally decides to kick the bucket before I can realize my plan to get a real decent gaming set up (I am thinking in about 2 years, maybe a little more) then I fully intend to buy a refurbished laptop. Not only does it sorta circumvent this whole matter, it's also generally probably more sustainable and, also important, often a lot cheaper than buying new and you still get a tested and fully functional device.
(the gaming set up is probably gonna be refurbished too. I really do want one, I paid money for Assassin's Creed Syndicate like 4 years ago and have yet to be able to actually play it)
Thank you again for your message!
Lots of Love

I wish all my lovelies a wonderful new year's eve and a hopefully equally as wonderful 2024. For me, the new year will bring some exciting and stressful times. Exams are on the horizon in march and planning is being made for a possible international internship in Ireland. Which is. Scary. For the most part. But also exciting?
I hope for all of you that you get through difficult times as ok as you can. And that you, like I hope for myself , may find the strength and bravery to do The Scary Thing™ that you want to do so badly. It takes guts, and the result may leave some unpleasant notions still, but in the end, the goal is that you not only managed to pull through, but also br proud of yourself for besting the fears keeping you away.
Hugs and kisses

I am so sorry for the very late reply, Anon, but work can really knock you out throughout the week >.<
Anyway, it's about an additional 4000 (more or less) words + around 750 optional words in the interlude.
That's mostly with code and all options considered so... not that much.
Thanks for the votes, lovelies!
Hugs and kisses
My original plan was/ still is to publish an update to the demo before the end of the year (some time after Christmas). Now I have written a bit, but it's still a little short to be considered a substantial part of plot.
My question now is:

Sorting through 70 year old letters just to find this lady absolutely dragging this book and its author. Four and a half pages of ranting to the publisher. Ended with "you just ruined your company" and "I am so sad that i am crying, this is no joke"

(for anyone wondering: I am spending 8h a day at the library and get paid for it)
Me when I find books on the shelf that someone very obviously tried to hide there:
"You fool! Did you reckon you could defeat the guardians of knowledge and escape their duty of order? Shame on you! Your unlawfulness has been rectified and your crime has been judged!"

Whoop whoop 'tis the season where blackbirds get so deliciously plump and round again and I wrote a couple of words again today (about 800) after weeks of no motivation! I also looked over the first part of the prologue again and corrected some spelling and grammar mistakes. I've also decided that for writing instead of Stimuwrite and just copy paste into the .txt file I will do the writing part with choices and corresponding text in a normal writing program (that 1. has spelling check and 2. does spelling checks better than grammarly) and then just add the coding afterwards. Wish me luck so that it actually may work.
(also psst but I am trying to get an update out until thr end of the year but please don't hold me to it ok)
(I've been spending a lot of money on CoG games lately but also have you read the Fallen Hero series? The Golden Rose? I am obsessed)
Hugs and kisses

Oh I really love having one of the abilities be pottery 🩷 I feel like it's different from the other skills so you don't get too similar options, but I do like the idea of metal work as well 🌷
To be perfectly honest, I do love the pottery as an option. I mean if I got an option for artsy clothing I gotta give you the opportunity to be artsy, right? I think I will keep it a single thing as well, to not clutter up all the crafting and description parts.
Thanks for the message!

Sooooo, since the witch type decides what kind of magicy stuff you craft and sell I was thinking about ways an Elemental Witch would do things that sort of ... combines the elements and I've come up with Pottery (earth, water, fire) and/or Smithery (sorta-earth, sorta-wind, mostly fire).
Thoughts? Any other ideas?
I really like pottery as a craft but also smithery is just so cool and (forgive the pun) metal.

Also glad to see we are still having the same arguments with the same conclusion like exactly 70 years ago. Religious conservatives just can't stop, can they

My dear @wings-of-ink, that is actually an incredibly useful suggestion.
I found a playlist with several of these videos. The first is about cooking terms and unfortunately, the narrator is absolutely dragging my poor girl Margie (and for some reason Tim can under no circumstances know that she fucked up his chocolate cake the first time she tried).
Anyhow, thank you so much!

BTW another great resource to get a feel of the times are old newspapers. You may also find some hilarious stories like:
boy wins prize for smallest pet by presenting an ant
two boys were observed entering a cafe, asking for two glasses of hot water and spoons, pull out a tin of instant coffee, drink said coffee and then leave after thanking the waitress for allowing them to use the glasses
horse stops eating after owner's daughter leaves for summer camp, owner sends horse to summer camp to join the daughter
Also, they tell you exactly who left town to visit whom and where. That's the talk on a regular Tuesday I guess.
