I wanna preface this by saying Joy went too far in certain aspects of her S2 arc, but the Joy vs Nina situation would have never escalated that much in canon had Nina not been the Chosen One.

Like hear me out: the entire reason Joy was kidnapped in the first place was because she was supposed to be the Chosen One. And honestly, we’re never told for how long she was being told this. It might have been dropped on her only once she was back at home, or they might have told her way before then and she just didn’t give it too much thought before it suddenly became real. We have no real idea. But either way, her isolation from all of the friends she held dear, and the essential imprisonment in her own home was all due to being this supposed Paragon.

And she obviously doesn’t want to be the Chosen One. She says it multiple times in S1, to the point of tears and screaming. Joy is glad when it turns out not to be her, but it’s obvious that she basically went through that entire ordeal, missed a whole year of crucial social development in her actual home (bc lbr she probably spent more time at Anubis growing up than she did her actual house), all for nothing.

And to make matters worse, the actual Chosen One was walking around free as a bird, making friends with all Joy’s friends, and managing to capture Fabian’s affections. So here’s this girl that Joy doesn’t know at all, who has cemented herself in the daily lives and hearts of Anubis House residents, and she happens to hold the role that Joy had been forced to play to her detriment.

That’s what stings most, I think, though Joy says it’s about Fabian. Most of her actual hurt and actual retaliation comes from feeling excluded by Sibuna. “I’ve seen things, remember? Things we don’t talk about because you and your little Scooby gang shut me out.” She is most angry because her isolation never stopped.

Of course, it doesn’t help that she was in love with Fabian, and now the actual Chosen One (who in Joy’s mind has practically gotten everything handed to her) is with him.

I firmly believe that if Nina was just a normal girl and there wasn’t a mystery going on, but she still was dating Fabian, Joy would not have gone so far. It’s not right that she went that far in the first place, of course, but she was justifiably angry at the injustice of her situation. She should have turned that anger on the adults who got it wrong in the first place, but it’s way easier to punch on your level than to punch up at grown adults with power over you. It’s a real shame that Nina got caught in the crossfire of Joy’s war with the world, because they really could have been such good friends.

Do you love our resident Trixie/Yacker as much as the characters in the show?

Well, that’s great for you but terrible for me because despite the fact that I do love Trixie, I have no idea what to do with her post S1 tribute video.

So! Without further ado, I am calling on ALL Patricia stans to please, contact me right here on Tumblr or on Instagram (polaroized.wp) to discus Patricia’s Tribute Video ideas for her stories in S2 and S3.

here’s what i got so far for her:

s1 is easy because she’s hyper focused on trying to find Joy, she’s relentless and doesn’t stop. good or bad, she’s willing to do anything. she’ll uncover whatever the teachers are trying to hide.

then i have a bunch of scenes with her being pretty cool and brave, just regular patricia badassery: walking the pendulum, walking the pendulum blind, general patricia-ness

then i have some clips where she’s just being a general menace to society

some loyalty scenes about nina and alfie

and then a bunch of peddie scenes which i do think that could work in a way where she’s upset at him for lying about who he was because she has a thing about people hiding who they are, i mean considering what she went through last season with the gaslighting and the teachers gatekeeping etc. it makes sense

but peddie scenes also have patricia tell us that she’s afraid of being vulnerable and how this is her first real relationship

other than that i dont want to use ‘sinner patricia’ bc that’s not really her, i mean other than the dumping juice over willow

so that’s it, if anyone likes this or if you have some like idea to workshop this. i mean at least an outline let me know, i’m off my game with trix.

Alfie Lewis Uncut Tribute Video notes:

i managed to divide his story into four parts:

1. Fear, also known as the scary stuff, the trauma, the start of his claustrophobia and all he suffers through during the seasons. it’s intentionally messy and disorienting and tbh i can barelt rewatch it bc the amount of scenes i had to cut down to half a second— now that gave me nightmares.

(my favorite part in that is when he goes "I'm part of the club now" and it flashes to him screaming or terrified. poor bud)

2. Potential, also known as showing us his smarts and his ingenuity and proving others wrong whenever they underestimate or put him down. i went back and re-edited and published a new version. the new uncut version should be up too.

3. Brave, also known as him just being brave despite his fear, it also involves audio from Doctor Who and Star Trek Picard.

4. A Companion, also known as the end scene paired with audio from doctor who's S8 E04 'Listen', it's a beautiful scene and a fantastic episode, and hearing that speech, i knew i had to record it to use for alfie's video. (and i used the doctor's speech earlier in that same episode for the end of the Brave part of the video)

because i could've ended the video with him just being brave and running and saving the day, or outsmarting some bad guy,

but i really loved the message of "it doesn't matter if there's nothing under the bed or in the dark, so long as you know it's okay to be afraid of it."

it lets alfie (and us) know that fear doesn't have to be a bad thing, like clara and the doctor said, fear is a superpower. so use it.

so the thing about Alfie’s story is that it was about him being the Bravest Sibuna. so i wanted to pair Fear and Brave together to make The Bravest.

and when i tried running Potential in the middle of it, it felt clunky, so i put it aside and made it part of the uncut version.

and finally A Companion was just extra, the audio has nothing to do with HOA, i just thought it was a fun add-on for Alfie because i loved the audio, that’s why it’s part of the uncut

well, i hope you guys liked this, up next is Patricia and other than the Joy-Patricia plot of S1 i have no idea what i’m going to do with her.

the real question we need answered isn’t how in Horus’ name did Robert (and lets be honest here Louisa did most of the work) manage to make a scavenger hunt for ancient cup pieces, build tunnels and set up tasks that reaches throughout the majority of the property (how the fuck is the reflector task directly under the living room yet also has a path that leads to the library???) or how the fuck did he plan for Ammut being risen and for him being evil all within— what one year? not to mention wait for his wife to either die or divorce him so he could marry and have a son (KT’s grandfather).

Broke: KT is soo annoying for talking about “great-grandpa” this! “great grand-pa!” that! It doesn’t even make sense, because she never met him and didn’t even know he existed until she got to England!!!

Woke: KT was an orphan raised by her aunt and her grandfather, the latter of whom died very recently. He was likely the only male figure she had growing up, and the fact that his dying plea was that she uprooted her entire life in her final year of school to go to England and stop a terrible thing from happening in her grandfather’s stead was probably very troubling. Then, she finds out that she does have more family out there, a man who is supposedly a genius and most likely has answers… as well as being a link to her beloved, dead grandfather. No wonder she’s a bit obsessed!

Bespoke: Her protectiveness of her “great-grandpa” is a response to her deep, unresolved grief… and yet it’s still kinda annoying 💀

Maybe that isn’t just the prophecy surrounding the Touchstone of Ra. Maybe, just maybe, that is the duty of the Osirian. Maybe in every iteration of the role, the burden of death falls on the shoulders of the god of the afterlife’s protege, and the burden of life rests on the Paragon’s.

It’s the Chosen One’s task to rebuild the Cup of Ankh. It’s the Osirian’s task to die to spare the world the imbalance of eternity. After all, what was Rufus’ death if not sparing the world? What was Sarah’s long, natural life if not a burden?

Nina, the Paragon, built the Cup after centuries of it being broken, and ended the cycle, but the story couldn’t end until the Osirian finally died. The only difference this time was that the boy was allowed to live.

Maybe when Victor said, “The Osirian will give his life so that the world may be spared,” he wasn’t just talking about Eddie. He was talking about history.
