Shaun is my modern day AU Spinner!Rum, and to me he is perfect.

He also has some solid "non-member of the clergy" downtrodden Joseph Macavoy energy, which I love. The only quibble I had with this lovely movie was that the actor playing "young Shaun" looked so unlike Robert Carlyle. But maybe that was a storytelling choice, more distinctly splitting Shaun's life into a "before" and "after." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ In any case, Shaun is dreamy and Shelle is a beautiful ship.

I originally wanted to write a fic, to really do the prompt justice. I worked on that for about a week, but after almost pulling my hair out I finally remembered that I’ve failed at writing fiction at least 80% of the times I’ve tried.

Uh-oh. Oh dear. Oh man. I just read the first chapter of this story, and it is absolutely gorgeous AND it's Spinner!Rum & Lady!Belle AND it's weaving in references to my favorite Disney movie AND it has a courageous young Baelfire AND an uber-kind, brave Belle AND...I am immediately 100% invested, so much so that I may not be able to be normal about this.

One Thing Forever True - Chapter 12

Rumpelstiltskin appeared in the entry hall of the Dark Castle in a plume of red smoke, Belle cradled in his arms.  Despite the burning heat of her skin against his, her frame was racked with tremors.  She shivered like her life depended on it, as if she’d taken a swim in the lake in the depths of winter.  She’d discarded her cloak outside, been exposed to the night’s biting winds, and still she burned with fever.

Bae waited anxiously in the entry hall, pacing restlessly.  His features brightened visibly when he saw Rumpelstiltskin.  “You found her!  Is she - “  He cut off, his face going sickly pale at the sight of the blood soaking her dress and Rumpel’s front, making his silk shirt stick to his chest.  “What happened?”

“Werewolves,” Rumpel muttered grimly, already crossing the room with his short, but quick, stride.  “They frightened her horse, lured her into an ambush.  I was barely able to get to her before they…”  He trailed off, unable to finish the thought.  Losing Belle to Gaston had nearly ripped his heart in two.  Watching her die, frightened and screaming as a wolf ripped her throat out… that, he would never recover from.

I will make a Fic Rec page on my Tumblr just so I can build a special shrine and permalink to this story. Holy hell. The standard advice is "write the story you want to read," but this feels like I went to bed just *daydreaming* about the story I wanted to somehow, someday read, and little uber-talented Fic Elves went to work all night long, and then POOF BAM WHAM here is the most lovely Leroux!Erik/Christine gorgeously characterized, dark-angsty, hurt/comfort-sexy, somehow realistic and restrained, soon-to-be-finished, most perfect fanfic of all time waiting for me in the morning. I will be waiting with bated breath for the final chapter!

I love this story like Gollum loves the Precious. No regrets. Do with my heart what you will.

Unfortunately for him, Christine never forgets.

My first stab at what a marriage between Christine and Erik might have looked like. Leroux-based universe, with a heavy ladling of angst and a little weird smut. Warnings for very, very mild dubious consent in later chapters. Happily, this story is already completed, so I expect to publish chapters on a weekly basis.
