Still plugging along here. Nothing really to report other than sitting around waiting for biopsy results. But here, have a fish pattern I finally got around to finishing up! https://ravel.me/friday-the-fish

I've reached the part of the knitting where I've ripped back 2.5 rows to a missed increase only to knit two more rows and discover a dropped stitch requiring me to rip back 6 rows because the drop was next to a increase and we like our sanity thank you very much.

Fishy fish. Working on an intelligable pattern at the moment. Gotta minimise the fiddly-ness! One thing I'm learning is I seem to have a high tolerance for fiddling about, and when the pattern is no-sew there's a lot of that.
Not sure when I'll get this one done. Got a lung biopsy on monday and who knows how that will go lol.

I'm still going through and reworking old patterns to make them more user friendly/legible. I've just finished sorting out the little standing bird.
You can download it for free on ravelry: https://ravel.me/little-chubby-bird
You can make these little fatborbs either as one seamless piece (hard mode) or as two pieces that you sew or crochet together (easy mode).
There's a colour chart to make the robin in the photo as well, though the colour changes might not be for the faint of heart XD

I should probably start sharing some of these little no-sew crochet patterns. So if anyone wants to make a little worry wyrm, here's the pdf on ravelry: https://ravel.me/worry-wyrm-dragon… I've already shared it on a fb crochet group i'm in, it's been tested and works out, so here you go!

Working on a dragon pattern based on those worry worm fidget thingies. I guess you'd call it a worry wyrm?

Here's what I've been working on lately, a no sew/one piece flying bird pattern. Plain coloured ones are easier but I wanna make a pile of christmas robins now to gift!
Yeah, i'm doing xmas stuff. I was not expecting to be well enough to enjoy christmas this year, but by some miracle my cancer is still stable at the moment so fingers crossed it stays that way until my next scan in the new year. Yay (hopefully) chemo free christmas!

Little flying dragon. It took a surprising amount of time and frustration to get this pattern worked out as I was determined to make it completely one-piece and no-sew. Still needs some tweaking but this is much better than the previous 2458698 frogged attempts lol!
I did try to give it a cute star-shaped tail fin at first, but it looked... well, more like a certain type of leaf honestly and I'm not going for THAT kind of Puff the magic dragon <.<

Still in the mood for making Tiny things, so here's a little goldfish. This was a bit of a challenging pattern to work out as it's all one piece, no separate bits or sewing at all.

Tiny bird! A very much smaller and simplified version of a robin pattern I made a while ago. This one is no-sew and made of 3 pieces. I wanted something quick and simple to use up wool scraps.

Prototype cat pattern! Cat heads are surprisingly difficult to get right, if you don't define the shape enough you have a generic teddy, if you define it too much you get a bulldog lol. My previous cat pattern was edging towards the latter and had a lot of thread sculpting. Honestly they looked... a little off. This one is more of a simple variation on the bear with less faff. The tail and ears are doing a lot of work here but hopefully it's enough to say 'cat'...

So much this!
Admittedly I'm just muddling along and embracing any wonkiness. But I've never successfully done a magic ring. I tried sooo many times but it was just too fiddly and I couldn't get it to work at all (and that was before I had messed up hands. I'd have no chance now.)
I still have to fight the worry that i'm doing it 'wrong', but the 'chain 2, work into chain' method has never caused me any issues. If I get a visible hole because of thin wool or too many scs or whatever I just cheat and sew it closed on the inside. It works well enough for me and doesn't look bad, so I'd rather do that than faff about with magic rings...
hey idk who here is learning to crochet amigurumi and needs to hear this, but magic ring/loop/circle is hard and no one is gonna like, come after you if you don't use it. you can just chain four, slip stitch the last chain to the first, and then crochet into the circle you just made. it's like at most 5% worse looking, you don't have to stabilize it, and it's 1000x easier to do.
I've been crocheting for 4 years. I've been doing amigurumi for 3. I gave up on the magic ring/loop/circle after a few days of Not Getting It and you know what? it's never been a problem. is the starting circle very slightly looser? sure. has literally anyone noticed? nope.
the magic ring/loop/circle is hard. sure it's "easy once you get it" but that's true of a lot of stuff -- learning it is the hard part, especially for beginners. it's not like the amigurumi police are gonna come and arrest you for doing something else.

Are we sick of teddies yet <.< Here's one more, then I'm gonna work on cats for a bit.
Got out the Posh Wool for this one! An alpaca/wool mix. Honestly I... don't like using acrylic wool much. It's plastic after all. But affordable alternatives are hard to find so I don't like using up my little stash of nice stuff until I'm sure a pattern is final.
(does that make me a yarn snob? Oh dear..)

Pink panda
Pink because I didn't have enough black or dark grey wool, but I ended up with accidental Bi pride/Porygon colours so yay!
Now to decide whether to break out the Nice Wool and make a fancy bear, or work out a pattern for a different animal. Although I'm full of cold right now so figuring out stitch counts might be too much for my snotty brain...

Pouty bears! Okay, I love that XD

The bear army continues to grow...
This might be a bit boring/familiar as I'm rehashing stuff I've done before, just with a different pattern... sorry!
First I'll make a prototype with whatever random wool I have a lot of (speckly bear) then make any needed tweaks and make another plain one (blue/pink bear), then work out a colour change chart for any markings I might wanna do (brown bear). That can mean more pattern tweaks but thankfully this one didn't.
They're all wonky/imperfect of course, but I'm not running a business here or aiming for precision. I like how they all end up with individual faces and slightly different proportions because of my dodgy embroidery and the random brands of wool used. As long as it's cute and doesn't fall apart, I'm happy enough!
