Jonathan Capehart: …[Franklin Graham] said that being gay is “something to be repentant of, not something to be flaunted, praised or politicized.” What would you say to the Franklin Grahams of the world, the Mike Pences of the world who have an issue with the LGBTQ community?
Pete Buttigieg: I guess I would say that we all have a lot to repent for. Um… I have a lot to repent for when it comes to my marriage. Moments when I’ve not been as caring as I should be. Moments when I’ve been selfish. Moments when I’ve said a harsh word that I wish I could take back. But one thing that I absolutely should not be repentant for, in the context of my marriage, is the fact that I’m in love with my husband.
Mayor Pete Buttigieg with The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart (5/22/2019)

He’s the first out gay candidate to announce for the Democratic Party’s nomination for the 2020 presidential race. He’s also married, a Rhodes Scholar, and the nation’s youngest mayor. Read his fascinating story in Shortest Way Home: One Mayor’s Challenge and a Model for America’s Future. It’s new from Liveright Publishing Corporation.

NEW RELEASE ON KINDLE UNLIMITED!
Being a fugitive in the old west shouldn’t be this much fun. The year is 1860. Robby Riverton is a rising star on the New York stage. But he witnesses a murder by a famous crime boss and is forced to go on the run--all the way to Santa Fe. When he still hasn't ditched his pursuers, he disguises himself as a mail order bride he meets on the wagon train. Caught between gangsters that want to kill him, and the crazy, uncouth family of his "intended", Robby's only ally is a lazy sheriff who sees exactly who Robby is -- and can't resist him.

I've been in a lot of fandoms, but I gotta say that I don't think I've ever seen a fandom crumble as fast as Sherlock fandom did. Sorta impressive in a way lol. Like insane hype for years and then it took just three weeks for it to completely disintegrate. Does Sherlock even have a fandom anymore? It's crazy how a few years back you couldn't escape sherlock content on tumblr and now you almost can't even find it bc so many old creators have moved on after s4 and there haven't been many new ones.
Hey Nonny,
I honestly haven’t really been IN a lot of fandoms. I’ve been a fan of a lot things, but never as deep in it as I have been with Sherlock. And I’ve personally never seen TPTB fuck a show up so royally before. Like, not only did johnlock not happen but S4 was fucking awful. And with no resolution S3 was shit too.
We lost a lot of great people post S3. I think those were the smart ones with good hindsight.
BUT as far as the fandom goes, you just need to know where to look. The fandom itself has kind of split off into groups.
Those who actually liked S4, which I’m not the least bit interested.
There’s people who still believe Johnlock is going to happen and think that S4 was fake in one way or another. Even those groups are split among each other. The E/M/P folks and then there’s the John’s alibi/blog folks.
Then there’s those of us who are enjoying the fandom still, the fan art and fan fiction. There are fans of ACD canon, Granada Holmes and many other versions. The Sherlock Holmes fandom isn’t going anywhere, even if it isn’t as huge on tumblr as it once was.
I do have to agree, I don’t see as much Sherlock content on my dash as I used to and everyday I see less and less. If Mofftiss goal was to completely obliterate both their show and the fandom, they’ve done a bang up job!

New Post has been published on http://elieaston.com/release-day-for-desperately-seeking-santa/
Release day for “Desperately Seeking Santa”!
It’s release day for “Desperately Seeking Santa”, my Christmas story for 2017. This year’s story grew longer than I intended. It’s a short novel at 52K words.  I loved writing about Mack, a 6’10”, 285 college wrestler. He a shy and guarded man. The protagonist of the story, Gabe, is a journalism student who falls for Mack after seeing him wrestle, never suspecting Mack might be gay or that a friend might set them up on a date.
Meanwhile, Gabe is trying to summon up his spirit of Christmas to write an article about an Elks charity dinner for a local children’s home, and to uncover the truth about their mystery Santa.
The story features Jordan and Owen from “Superhero” as side characters but can be read as a stand-alone.
You can read more about “Desperately Seeking Santa”, including the first chapter, here.
Here’s the link to Amazon. The book is on KU and the purchase price is $3.99.

I don’t blame AA. To be clear, I hate Mary, esp S4 Mary. And yes, Mary’s plotline ruined the entire show. But it’s not Amanda’s fault. The fault lies squarely with the writers. I'm sure AA would have loved to have been written as a scenery-chewing bad ass villain in S4 ala Moriarty. She even hinted at such on her twitter. But nope, they made her a ridiculous martyred Mary Sue.
I blame Moftiss’s blindspot. I think Mark specifically refused to do a gay romance because the fans wanted it so badly. It wasn’t his initial idea, so a big FU to fans, especially since he has shown contempt for female fans of gay ships before. The more we wanted it, the more they dismissed the idea as ‘ridiculous’. Which is so idiotic right there.
They told us all along they weren’t going to do it, that it wasn’t their idea for the series, and, unfortunately, they were telling the truth. I personally think they saw Sherlock as secretly in unrequited love with John at the start of the show, ala The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes. But at the end they pivoted away even from that due to the huge pressure of the johnlock ship and their knee jerk reaction away from any hint of a romance. Hence that ridiculous bringing up of Irene in TLD.
The truth is: the show wasn’t all that brilliant from the start. It’s a modern day Sherlock Holmes with TPLoSH vibes. That’s it. We were fooled by how good the early scripts were into thinking they were going someplace planned and wonderful and amazing. But they weren’t.
My own guess is that Ben played Sherlock falling in love because that was the “secretly in unrequited love” part. And I think Martin played John in love because that’s really the secret tension, how it should have been, the interesting bit. It’s not Martin or Ben’s fault that S4 scripts served so hard away from that and basically blew the entire narrative.
But I suppose we’ll never know. Maybe someday Martin will talk openly about it. I sensed even before S4 he was disappointed with the direction things had gone, in that one radio interview he did where he said he doubted there’d be any more that it had ‘run its course’.

Thank you! Today it’s braces, tomorrow I get my wisdom teeth yanked. A VERY BAD week. Also, I should probably get a 48 hour pass on anything I post anywhere on the interwebs as wisdom teeth = drugs.
Actually, maybe I should just hide all the technology before going under. ;)

Yup
I am not going to give Mofftiss’ Dracula a chance.. Sorry that ship has sailed. For me they represent an unfinished promise in writing, not in Johnlock. And their treatment of the highly intelligent and perceptive fans was the last draw. As much as I still keep their first two seasons dear to my heart, their credibility is long gone. Again nothing to do with Johnlock and everything to do with the way they treat their source inspirations and anyone else who is equally invested in those.
