Okay a lot of it is more iffy but there is a solid point that I will get to last. So bear with me
There’s the Pince-Nez scene right, where they’re talking about death, and it’s specifically John who says that everyone deserves someone to mourn them. This is something that feels less like foreshadowing and more like it just has a deeper meaning when you know that John is going to be the one to mourn Sherlock, especially when that adventure ends with John saying that Sherlock’s alright (establishing that they’re friends, instead of John just thinking of Sherlock as the Genius)
Then there’s Creeping Man, with the entire scene dedicated to John talking about how dead people shouldn’t be used as content. ACD Watson, which the podcast clearly cares about, took forever to publish final problem because of what it meant to him, but now we also have John battling with whether it’s right to release the story of his friend’s death. This is something where it’s like ‘wow shco John, how come they let you have TWO scenes that gain depth when you know that your friend is going to die?’
And finally!!! Gloria Scott. Gloria Scott opens with John and Mariana discussing what to bring back to the flat, and it’s, in my opinion, a very blatant symbol for Sherlock (John choosing cactus, something that is prickly at first but eventually beautiful, Mariana choosing fruit, something that is useful if neat to look at). In addition, the entire adventure deals with plants as identity, with most of them being about the Trevors even as Sherlock is battling his own identity problems and how they relate to his memory (specifically his memory of the Victor-era, Victor being the one to connect Sherlock to plants in the first place). Then, at the end of the adventure, John and Mariana decide on an orchid, which is. Pretty directly stated as having to do with identity considering everything. And the orchid (a beautiful flower that’s often half artificially created and full incredibly delicate) dies before John and Mariana get home, before they’ve had it for long.
Makes me crazy

Guys that little Mariana and Sherlock bonding moment where he lets her know that he’s never going to let her safety/mental health be compromised by his need for closure… THAT was special to me. Like oh my days.
