Another AFO study this time featuring Yoichi

I really enjoyed this as I feel like I’ve really gotten used to my tablet whilst also using this as an excuse to experiment with my new water colour brush. I also used this to experiment with layout and I think it turned out pretty well if I do say so myself.

In the sewer afo appears in his quite significant coat for the last time - probably having yoichi’s blood being splashed all other it was good enough reason to not go out wearing this coat ever again

#never thought considered that possibly but it makes so much sense #he would've kept it not to wear but to keep in store somewhere as it has the last pieces of yoichi on it #most likely also got lost during his run from all might #much to consider though

the contrast between these two scenes...

you can argue that afo was lying when he told tomura that he was "near and dear to him", but I actually think he was being truthful here. he loves who tomura shigaraki is because he's something he helped create with his own hands and it's who he projects all his own desires/will onto, all so he could become him as he sees the image of tomura as the idealized version of himself. tomura isn't just a pawn to him, he's what afo is putting his whole future on. everything tomura became is what afo wants to be. which is why he was guided onto that path by afo and why later afo took his body for himself.

however when faced with tenko, tomura's core and who he really is in the inside, he has nothing but contempt for him. tenko is nothing afo wants to be and he despises tenko's own desire to be a hero. he doesn't care for who tenko is, only what he wants him to be. he has no use for a small, crying child therefore he only has nothing but spiteful words towards him.

it's sad in that shigaraki really believed afo cared for him as a person. afo was the only one who stopped to help him when he was alone, and gave him a home to live in and guided him to becoming stronger. shigaraki thought that meant he was loved and valued by afo but the reality was that he was being groomed for one specific purpose only and that the plan to take over his body had been in motion before he was even born.

was rereading the overhaul arc and came across this. I figured afo would've kept tabs on him after he had escaped, though interestingly enough he left him alone and even told tomura about him. I wonder if afo was aware of how much of a threat he would become, and of his later ambitions to be the next leader of the underworld and wanted shigaraki to learn and grow from dealing with him.

#probably so right? #a41 could've dealt with him but then tomura wouldn't have learned anything if a41 did everything for him #it's all just to make tomura a better successor so he could later take his place literally for himself #at least I think so

Also All For One: I think I heard Yoichi's last traces on this world disappear, and all the world has lost meaning and color. This is fine. I am absolutely in the prime of mental health. I'm still stuck on this like what do you mean afo would've disappeared if it hadn't been for him realizing yoichi's vestige had shattered too... did the shock just keep him strong enough to withstand the shattering? was the idea of yoichi disappearing potentially forever that devastating that it caused him to survive the impact even though he doesn't care about it all anymore because there's no point without yoichi?
