In a press conference held by the Palestinian Civil Defence in Gaza earlier today, they confirmed that they estimate 10,000 missing people remain missing under the rubble and that, with their very limited means right now, in order to be able to locate and exhume these bodies, the operation could take up to three years. Until then, these 10,000 are not counted among the casualties.
As summer approaches, the trapped bodies are going to be a major source of illnesses and epidemics are expected to spread. Already, there are 20,000 cases of hepatitis in Gaza.
All of this of course is made infinitely more difficult by Israel blocking fuel from entering while it continues to target civil defence vehicles. As a matter of fact, Rafah now has only 3 functioning fire trucks according to a Palestinian Civil Defence spokesperson.
Ponzi had her third challenge course lesson yesterday and we got into some obstacles that she found really, truly challenging!
I ended up having to physically place her back feet on the tire for her to realize that it was a possibility. She was stretched to her very tippy toes and refused to before I showed her 😅
We also finally got her to dip her toes in the acid bath (water feature) and she had tons of fun leaping through the window.
The barrels made me personally really nervous, as Ponzi likes to race over everything and they were quite slippery. So we worked on slowing down.
This is the first time she really showed us she was worn out physically and mentally by the end of our 30 minutes.
Mohammed here contacted me directly through tumblr, he was referred to me by a friend of his whose fundraiser I've also verified the legitimacy of. This fundraiser is just now starting out! Do not hesitate to donate!
