camaronas:
Lobco listened intently. One of life’s greatest joys was to learn about other people and their history–and she could only imagine that someone with such a hold of one of the most enigmatic and difficult to understand concepts had so many experiences to potentially share.
Needless to say what stuck out to her the most was the ide aof not experiencing time in a linear fashion. Truth be told it was hard to even wrap her head around what exactly that entailed and all the implications. If it deterred her from having a familiar she wondered what else it may have kept her from indulging in. A witch without a familiar, unless said witch was an extreme young or new one, felt so strange to her. Every witch she had come across in the past had had one, so that was another manner in which Tokinome was unique.
The shrimp couldn’t help but lean a little back and was caught off guard by the comment. Looking into her past? Who was she?
It wasn’t often that she talked about, and innate distrust and humility made it a hard thing to do. She was one who preferred the ease of listening for the most part so for a moment she looked flustered.
“My name is Lobco. I’m an ex familiar and before that I traveled the sea and Pitch World on my own, picking up jobs wherever I went so I’ve gotten a bit of experience in many things. Didn’t become an expert in any–other then housework, I suppose, and transcribing from my time with my former witch. I’ve always loved magic and wanted to learn it myself but I’ve got a long way to go.”
Uh. What else? Somehow that felt lackluster.
“What do you mean by feeling like a stranger among their own family?”
That was a feeling she was too deeply familiar with when she was among Chlomaki’s other familiars.
As Lobco spoke Tokinome nodded along, listening intently to the other’s words. It was a rarity for her to talk with someone without exploring them, so she was curious what information the redhead would reveal. And, as the shrimp continued, she certainly didn’t disappoint. An ex familiar, who has travelled across multiple worlds? What an interesting soul she was! That smile on her face just kept growing as Lobco spoke more, though the question did catch her off guard.
She paused, her smile faltering for a moment before she leaned back a little, letting out a slow breath. It was an interesting question, and honestly one she should have anticipated. She really was out of practice with talking to people...
“You mean with regards to not wanting a familiar? Well, if someone were to become my familiar, they’d most likely have to experience time in a similar way in which I do. No longer viewing it as a one way street, as simply linear, but instead traversing it, exploring it. If they wanted to visit their family, when in time would I return them? Should I aproximate the amount of time we’ve spent away, based on when I first made the contract? What if they’ve seen the future, and know of things that will come to pass to their family, but cannot speak of it? Suppose, in theory, I had a familiar, and we happened to arrive in their home world for a task. What if they saw their family, fifty years in the future? They might have only been with me for a few months - they wouldn’t understand the culture, who people are, nothing.”
She sighed, pausing for a moment to watch the other’s reaction, and checking one of her dangling clocks briefly.
“And... Even if I were to return them to their own time, they wouldn’t be themself anymore. They’d be someone new, changed and shaped by the experiences they’ve had. Of course, this is true for all of lifes journies, but if I were to keep a familiar and actually have them as company, they’d have to join me on my travels through time. They’d have seen impossible things, things that they wouldn’t be able to talk to their family about. This is without even mentioning the possibility for mistakes. What if we visit their family out of sync with linear time? They might try to talk about things that haven’t been discussed yet, or might be expected to know things they can’t.”
She leaned forwards again as she finished, her playful smile returning as she regarded the other, gently waving her hand as if to dismiss all that she’d just said. As if she could simply blow it away, like a bad smell.
“But enough about that~ You mentioned you want to learn magic, right? Any particular type you’re interested in, or just going for a general understanding?~ And if you’ve explored those worlds, I’m sure you must have stories about them, right~? Some interesting tales, from beyond this world~” She gestured as she spoke, feigning the expression of a young child who had just heard of the existence of other worlds.

Witches were quite the unique bunch, weren’t they? While there was basic magic that most seemed to know, they all seemed to have their specializations and it was fascinating to see all the different types out there. Lobco had seen her fair share and had read of even more but the person she saw before her certainly was a first.
Time.
Surely that must be it. Tokinome herself seemed to indicate as such with the emphasis she put on the clocks that hung from her hat and yet more pinned to her dress.
A Time witch?
Never would she have expected to meet someone with such power, much less be hired.
Hurriedly she gave a polite bow before sitting herself on at the empty seat across from Tokinome.
She had been feeling a little nervous before, and that increased, but she was also excited–especially when her client talked about introductions. Even if it turned out that she couldn’t help with what was requested, the prospect of learning a little more about her was already enticing.
“I would like to know more about you, if it would be alright. And if you had any questions, I would gladly answer them.”
The formality from the former familiar seemed to amuse the witch, as she giggled again, relaxing back into her chair as Lobco sat opposite her. At the request she blinked, canting her head, before letting out a slow breath, sitting up a bit.
“About me? Well, we don’t have forever, so I’ll stick to the important stuff for now~ I enjoy tea and biscuits, I keep journals like a hoarder, and I have this terrible habit of experiencing time in a non-linear fashion. Oh, and I’ve never kept a familiar! Always felt bad about any temptations to, to be honest. Not many people want to feel like a stranger amoung their own family, ha ha~”
She sighed a little, shifting in her seat, watching Lobco carefully despite how casual she seemed.
“What else... Well, I mostly came here because I was lonely, and I picked you because your skillset intrigued me. That, and I could use a hand translating some scrolls. I have tragically little patience for it, which is rather frustrating when you have little else to occupy your time!”
She leaned in at this point, focusing her attention entirely on Lobco, her smile twisting a little - not maliciously, but clearly planning something.
“What about you? Tell me about yourself, Lobco~ I’ve made a point of not looking into your past, in an effort to come to know you just as you are now. You are as much a stranger to me as I am to you, I presume. So, tell me... Who is Lobco?”

@camaronas
The Witch World was cast in its usual burnt golden hue, despite the sun being high in the sky. Lobco had been here on a number of occasions and with the exception of when she, with her former master, had visited during night time, this world was always cast in that golden glow. She wondered why that was. Was it merely coincidence? It was hard to tell time when one was world hopping and typically their visits were quick and filled with busywork that distracted her from such trivial thoughts. At the end of the day, it probably was mere coincidence, and if not what difference did it really make?
Yet these days her mind wandered so often.  Her contract with Chlomaki was over. She had managed to slip out from Hijoushiki’s hold. Here she was in the Witch World still too afraid to return home. Perhaps one day when she could be certain that he wasn’t searching for her.
For now she would just try to make her way on her own. Chlomaki had shown her own kindness in offering to teleport her back to the sea, but Lobco had instead chosen to come here. It was a place that would be very difficult for anyone not a witch, nor a familiar to one to come. It was much safer here than any other she could think to go to, but she also felt rather out of place. She was no longer a familiar, and what little magic she had was certainly not enough to categorize her as a witch.
Which meant she could help but shake this feeling like she was intruding. Logically she knew that no one cared and that she was far from the only one who was neither witch nor familiar here but still.
It was hard not to feel that way
nor to shake the feelings of loneliness off.
With a sigh she pushed herself off the bridge she’d been looking out over and finished making her way towards the guild. It was a rather convenient place she hadn’t known of until recently–meant specifically for hired hands. Not quite mercenaries but something akin to that–perhaps apprentices or familiars in training? People would turn in applications with their skill sets, and witches would take them on for single jobs. From what she had heard often contracts were made via this system. The shrimp had no intention of starting something so serious after having just voided one with Chlomaki, but she needed to make money some way. The cushion she had built up for herself over the years wasn’t going to last forever, and she needed some way of staying here permanently until she found some other solution.
Figured out what she wanted to do with her life.
She had gotten notification that someone had wanted to meet with her, thus she finished on her trek over.
Once she checked in at the registry she made her way to the room where her client was waiting.
“Hello.” She closed the door behind her and gave a deep bow. “My name is Lobco.”
Tokinome was rather quite decidedly not a witch who kept familiars. It was, for her, an ocupational hazard - being the time witch, she had a tendency to experience it in a less than linear style, which tended to present a bit of a memory problem, if the familiars were left behind. And, unfortunately, she hadn’t quite worked out how to prevent the ravages of time safely on others, which meant that if she did bring familiars with her, then they tended to suffer the tragedy of aging. So, she didn’t keep familiars.
For the most part, this didn’t trouble her - she was happy to spend her time bouncing around, visiting various other witches and people, or simply to spend it alone, performing her research. However, she had recently struck an issue that she didn’t seem to be able to solve herself. This was honestly something which she found rather quite annoying, this persistent annoyance she’d been unable to solve with neither magic nor time.
She was lonely.
This wasn’t to say that she didn’t have people she considered friends, indeed she spent time with other witches, interacting with them and talking to them, befriending them and doing her best to remind herself of what their lives involved. She had journals upon journals for each witch she talked to, detailing where they had last left off, dated chonologically so she could refresh herself and act like she still remembered them. But, despite this, she was lonely. She missed true companionship, even if such a thing was more a distant shadow of a memory by this point, any true recollection of those moments of her youth lost to the ravages of time. She missed being able to laugh with someone over a hot drink without having to pause time to check back for references, missed confiding her secrets in someone. She missed being able to meet someone and not have to struggle to remember their name.
She didn’t miss it enough to stop messing with time, of course. She was in far to deep to do that - she’d already paid so much, to stop now would be foolish. No, she wasn’t going back on her choice, but she was planning on pausing her temporal machinations for a little while, to experience life as it was like for others.
Lobco’s contract had caught her eye - she sounded like an interesting person, and failing that, she could always use a hand translating some of the older scrolls she’d ‘borrowed’ from distant times.
As the door opened, she looked up with a smile, a light chuckle causing the clocks suspended from her hat to bounce as the former familiar bowed. “Pleasure to make your acquaintance! I’m Tokinome, Witch of... Well, I trust my outfit gives that away, at the very least. Now, do you prefer to do more in depth introductions, or shall we discuss the terms of this arangement?~”

“Well, you know I can’t do my best work if I’m exhausted. So taking breaks seems like a normal thing to do, wouldn’t you say?”
The seraph glanced over at her sister, offering a smile of her own as she saw that Sol was ready to go. She paused for a moment, as if thinking about where to go, before she stretched her wings out as well. Maybe they didn’t need a particular destination this time
There was nothing wrong with just flying around for a little while. So, after a moment, she flapped her wings a few times, hovering just above the ground as she glanced at the other.
“
Shall we go, then?”
“I suppose that does make sense...” She’s clearly still conflicted over the idea, since her response to feeling tired is to simply try harder. Still, her sister was the head angel, so who was she to argue?
As she took to the air, Sol followed, nodding at the question and smiling. It had been a while since she’d stretched her wings, and some exercise would be good for her. If she’d had more insight, she might have found her need to justify excerise troubling, but that had never been her forte. Besides, her mind was occupied with other thoughts. She made sure to not fly higher than her sister, wings shifting as she hovered, stretching her arms a little.

“What? Are you actually going to take a break, Sol? And here I thought you never stopped working.”
The head angel chuckled lightly, looking up at her sister for a moment, before finally nodding. She saw no reason not to let Sol tag along
It wasn’t like it would hurt. She wasn’t going to leave the world, or anything like that. She just wanted a chance to wander, and get her mind off the tedious paperwork that was waiting for her.
“Anyways, I guess you can come. It’s more fun with more people, anyways.”
She blinked at the teasing comment, but smiled after a moment, letting her tension leave her. As her older sister agreed she stretched her wings a little, trying to warm up.
“I try not to. Work is important, after allElux needs this gets done. But, if it’s for you... I suppose I can make an exception.”
Tumblr media
She cracked a small smile as she spoke, stepping in a little closer to the other, getting ready to travel wherever she wished to go. As much as leaving so much work unfinished did hurt her, she wouldn’t turn down a chance to spend some time with her sister. That was something she always valued, especially since she was the head angel.

Her sister’s words did draw a soft sigh from Venus’s lips, and she shook her head in mild annoyance at the comments. She was well aware of what her sister thought of her habits
But honestly, it didn’t really matter all that much to her. The work eventually got done, and Elux never scolded her for it. So she saw no reason to change what she was doing.
Tumblr media
“I’ve already done a fair bit of work, Sol. I’m sure that everyone can manage if I just go on a short walk. You know I work better with a clear head.”
The obvious annoyance from her sister did cause her to frown more, stepping in closer to her, her wings fluffing up a little from annoyance. How dismissive Venus was being about it was annoying her, but she tried to not let it get to her - she was her sister, after all, and her head angel. She shouldn’t be annoyed with her, even if she was slacking off.
Tumblr media
“...I suppose that’s true. You wouldn’t mind me tagging along, would you? I could probably do with stretching my legs myself.” It was honestly in part to try and get Venus to slack off less, but spending time with her was always nice.

There is a quiet, disappointed sigh, accompanied by a pair of powerful wing beats, and the russling of papers.

“Venus, where are you going? You’re already behind on paperwork, so please don’t go wandering off...” She managed to keep from saying the again part, at least. She did admire her sister in some ways, but her work ethic was not one of them.

They felt so comfortable being held by him, a soft and happy sigh escaping the former God. “I cleaned everything, actually~” cleaning was one of the only things they were good at, actually. It didn’t take a lot of energy or a lot of extra thought, which made it perfect. They could zone completely out and come back to in a completely clean room, which was nice! Cooking took a bit more effort, but they were pretty good at that too and they always loved having food ready for when the Devil would return!
“Really now?~  Well, thank you for that~  Such a darling wife, I’m lucky to have you~”  He smiled as he spoke, leaning in to kiss their cheek as he did and giving her a gentle squeeze.  He was amazed he could love as much as he did, and he truly did mean those words.  Despite everything he’d done, he got to have this happiness.  That was a gift he treasured beyond words.  He held them close for a moment longer, before kissing their forehead and smiling down at them.  “I’m so glad to be home~”

“Yes, that’s precisely it. The Village is a small thing that I’ve created, where folks from all different worlds can congregate and live in peace together. As for the System
It’s a group of various different worlds that include both The Village and The Bakery. We all have connections and alliances with one another, and folks are free to visit each other as they so wish.”
The other’s questions didn’t really bother her too much, and in fact, she seemed more than happy to share. The System could always use more allies, as far as she was concerned. And she knew that she certainly wouldn’t be opposed to having another ally and friend.
Even if Mendax wasn’t a part of the System yet, she saw no reason why she couldn’t still see them as a friend.
“I personally see Eggplant as a mentor of sorts, as she’s been around for a lot longer than I have. I’ve been trying to learn what I can from her on how to effectively run the Village, though I have sort of taken what I’ve learned and made it my own.”
She didn’t like copying things exactly, after all. So she could easily find ways to make things her own.
Tumblr media
What a curious place this was.  Aetos created The Village, which meant they didn’t want to make an enemy of her.  Someone so powerful could be a useful ally to have though...  What interested them far more than any of that though was the System.  Multiple worlds, connected in an alliance?  That on it’s own was a tempting prospect, more allies were never a bad thing, after all.  But the thought of being able to freely move between them...  That excited them more than anything else.
“Hmm...  How would someone potentially join the System?  Forming more connections couldn’t hurt, especially if they’re like Eggplant.  Free movement between different worlds sounds delightful, though I am hesitant.  Is it safe?”
They fell quiet again after a moment, contemplating the other’s words on Eggplant.  That was unexpected, to say the least, though remarkably interesting.  If she was young like she said, then that meant she would be far easier to manipulate than Eggplant.  Almost certainly a useful ally then, if they could make her one.
“A mentor?  Well, she seems she’d make a good one!  Very calm and levelheaded!  I don’t suppose I could see the Village some time, could I?  I can promise I won’t cause any trouble, if you’ve any concerns around that!  Eggplant is kind of a rolemodel for me as well, so I try to act like her as much as I can!!”
She did feel bad about lying about Eggplant, especially since that was her friend.  But, if it meant making an ally of another one of her kind, then it was more than worth it.

They laughed as he mentioned them being good, comforted by the fingers running through their hair and the familiar affection. “I have been~ Or, as good as I can be.” they seem pleased with this, and nuzzle up against the man lovingly. They always felt so alone when he was gone, not that they couldn’t handle that. But it was nice to have him back.
He gently held them close as they nuzzled against him, his fingers continuing to gently play with their hair.  Their words caused him to raise an eyebrow, and he paused his affections for a moment, his tone amused.  “Oh?  Have you been making a mess of things around here, my love?~”  He was visibly relaxed as he held them, not worried in the slightest if they had made a mess.  He could always fix it.  And it was a small price to pay for getting to be with them.

Later into the night, the Devil would find his brother in one of the rooms within their home. A few stray candy wrappers liter the floor, as well as various toys. The younger was still in his costume, but was now laying on the ground with his eyes shut. Seems he tired himself out pretty thoroughly and had now fallen asleep. { Garash for Ruin }
Tumblr media
The devil sighed as he found his younger brother, a faint flicker of a smile coming to his face.  He picked his way through the toys over to Garash, before gently scooping him up, carrying him carefully.  “...”
