tradition dictated that when the king entered, when the grandiose oak doors shielding his majesty’s apartments from the rest of the court swung open and grooms dressed in liveried blues and reds stepped aside, courtiers would rise and the chatter would quiet. silence descended over the hall as arthur exited, yet seeing his youngest brother seated alone, the king rose a hand and gestured for edmund to remain where he was. “ do not move on my accord, edmund. you must be travel-weary. ” moving toward the prince, he drummed his fingers atop the edge of the table, intoning a low voice as he mused:  “ since i have you here, perhaps we could use this opportunity to... speak. ”  his words proved strained, as though mustered from exertion, or the clever machinations of the royal advisers he kept close to his chest.

grew up sequestered from court life because of the threat of the plague, and god forbid edmund ever became king.

incredibly intelligent, bit of a polymath! inspired by the classics and ancient cultures, hugely into the idea that our lives are guided by the sun and the moon, can cite text from every book in his library. 

studied the law extensively before he became king. 

somehow very faithful? not to the idea of fire and brimstone, but faith in general. doesn’t take mistresses––doesn’t have the time. his loyalty to england is second to none. prefers english people to y’all continentals, sorry. thinks you guys are very annoying. no previous children from previous entanglements. 

i believe he only has a daughter! but arthur is calm and doesn’t let passion rule his life, so he’s not overly worried considering him and his wife are both young, and he loves their (nameless sry) daughter. he’s been married for a few years now. 

his face says ‘you literally cannot bother me. unbothered’ but truth is he’s bothered all the time. perpetually annoyed.

will cut a bitch if he has to. will turn on a bitch if he has to. hell hath no fury like a windsor scorned.
