From wiki:
In the early 1930s, an emergency landing field had been built by the Works Progress Administration in the Mojave Desert near the small town of Inyokern, California. Opened in 1935, the field was acquired by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF) in 1942. In November 1943 it was transferred to the Navy, which established China Lake as the Naval Ordnance Test Station (NOTS).

Darkstar & Angel
--
SR-71, the real-life model of the Darkstar was disintegrated while flying Mach 3.2 which killed one of the two people who were on that aircraft. I wanted to think that a Mother Goose became the guardian angel for Maverick so he can be safe and also his son can have someone in his life.

Books/Documents in Maverick’s Cabinet
The rest of the books are too small/thin to identify. I’d guess couple of them might be motorcycle manuals? Might be visible when the DVD/Blu-Ray comes out later this year.

Maverick’s Airstream
Exterior
Interior
=> Airstream Globetrotter !!
Size of the airstream:
This really is hard to tell just from the movie footage, but based on the fact that the Microwave can be installed starting from 27ft size, I’d guess maverick has 27ft model
Conclusion:
=> Airstream Globetrotter 27FB !!

Maverick’s Test Pilot Plaque
- 412th Test Wing Captain 2006
- 412th TW - 412th Test Wing [https://www.edwards.af.mil/About/Fact-Sheets/Display/Article/393902/412th-test-wing/] : The 412th Test Wing plans, conducts, analyzes, and reports on all flight and ground testing of aircraft, weapons systems, software and components as well as modeling and simulation for the USAF. Located in Edwards Air Force Base, which is quite close to the Mojave dessert where Maverick’s hangar is located
- 412th MXG - 412th Maintenance Group (as engraved on the wall plaque) [https://www.edwards.af.mil/News/Article/828899/412th-mxg-collects-four-majcom-awards/412th-mxg-collects-four-majcom-awards/] : Through a maintenance group of over 2,000 people and an operations group of 3,000, the 412th Test Wing maintains and flies an average of 90 aircraft with upwards of 30 different aircraft designs and performs over 7,400 missions (over 1,900 test missions) on an annual basis.
---
>> I would guess Maverick has been a test pilot before 2006, and he had some opportunity to work with 412th Test Wing / Maintenance Group in USAF, and the wall plaque was given to him as commemorate gift from 412th MXG

ドアが外開き左勝手でドアの左側にシンクがあったよね確か。これはドアが右勝手だから微妙に違うけどまあまあ近いのでは🤔
追記:後日確認したら右勝手左外開きだったので、同じタイプでした。

Aviator Indoctrination in 1980
Majority of the info here is from a book BEFORE TOPGUN DAYS, experience from AI in 1979. Links at the bottom!
Aviator Indoctrination (6 weeks) - Pensacola, FL
First step of becoming Naval Aviator/Flight officers
Starts 0700~0800, finished in the afternoon
Types of students:
SNA (Student Naval Aviators) 1390
NFO (Naval Flight Officers) - RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) on a fighters / BN (Bombardier-navigators)
Extra info on students’ life:
includes theoretical studies (basic aerodynamics and aircraft engine fundamentals), accident investigations & war stories. Slide-show training programs in the library, low-intensity obstacle course near the officers’ quarters, hanging out at various night spots in Pensacola.
Ensign-mobile
Bachelor officers quarters (BOQ) was provided - looks like mid-range hotel with several buildings of two or three stories. Studio apartment with shared living room and kitchen. - only 1/4 or less of the classmates lived in apartments and the more left as time went on
Many were engineers but many other majors
few were married, mostly 21~24, few were almost 30
First day of training: personal flight gear gets issued in “Flight Gear Issue” (small cinder block warehouse on the far side of the base. each items are recorded in each person’s logbooks:
boots, safety
gloves, flying
helmet, flying
knife, survival
flight suit, flying (called “bag”)
jacket, flying
2nd day of training: Physical exam at NAMI (Naval Aerospace Medical Institute)
3rd day of training: Swimming pool
swimming and diving with flight suits and boots.
Simulating getting away from an aircraft crash (jump off from 15ft above water, swimming 20~30 ft underwater, break the surface then swim another short distance underwater)
after swimming, timed runs on an obstacle course, with maximum time allowed is 3″51′
2nd week: classroom sessions with physical fitness tests
in the afternoon: confidence course- 1.6 mile run, 1 mile swim
parachute landing
3rd week: completed more qualifications in aviation physiology
EEG (electroencephalogram) - could detect an adverse experience and be disqualified from flying helicopters
Altitude chamber - low-pressured chamber : given tasks to perform with thinner air with less oxygen
Dynamic ejection seat
Aviation-related academic endeavors
4th week Monday: Dilbert Bunker: how to escape from a plane that crashes into the sea and flips over
4th week Tuesday:
Helo Dunker : training for escape from a helicopter after water impact
untangle from parachute
rest of 4th week ~ 6th week: water survival training - performed on Pensacola Bay
water survival training: parachute drag. learn how to get out of harness while being dragged through water due to parachute that won’t collapse
helicopter hoist training with CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter
6th week’s last lesson: 2.5 day survival course
remote wooded area 1 hr from NAS Pensacola
taught basics of survival: land navigation, edible plants and animal, how to make use of available material (parachute)
land-navigated along courses of 3+ more, ate edible foliage, slept in crude shelters built from scratch. gather in groups around fire at the end of the day
End of 6th week: selection process
---
After AI:
SNA : off to other base for pilot training - NAS Whiting in Milton, FL ( TW-5: Training Air Wing Five ). Or off to Mississippi or Texas
IF Maverick painted the T-34C model himself, it can be assumed that he was in TW-5 with tail code ‘E’, and would have gotten a pilot training in NAS Whiting Field close to Pensacola.
Training Air Wing Five Tail Code "E": VT-2, VT-3, VT-6
NFO: 10 months in training squadron ( 5 months in VT-10 for basic flight training + 5 months advanced training at different VT) -> 9 months in F-14 training squadron => Front-line F-14 squadron
all NFO joined Training Air Wing Six (Tail Code "F") VT-10
Goose’s training timeline assumption
born 62, would have assigned O-2 in May of 86 or 85, so would have joined Navy (graduated from Academy) in 83 or 84.
Example timeline if he graduated 83′ class:
79.8 : admitted to Naval Academy
83.5 : graduate Naval Academy as ensign,
83.7 - 83.8 : AI program,
83.8 - 83.12 : training in VT-10,
83.12 - 84.4 : advanced training at other VT,
84.4 - 84.12 : F-14 VT,
85.1 - assigned to VF-1 where Maverick and Goose was assigned pair
85.5 - promoted to LTJG
86.7 - sent to Top Gun
would have been promoted to LT in 87.5
Maverick’s training timeline assumption
born 62, was O-3 in 86.7 if he was promoted right before Top Gun:
82.5 : Complete OSC program and commissioned as Ensign
82.7 - 82.8 : AI program,
82.8 - ??.? : primary flight training (maybe in TW-5)
??.? - ??.? : intermediate phase of flight training
??.? - ??.? : advanced naval flight training
??.? : awarded his “wings of gold” and assigned to VF-1 where Maverick and Goose was a pair
84.5 - promoted to LTJG
86.5 - promoted to LT
86.7 - sent to Top Gun
would have been promoted to LT in 87.5
---
Just some interesting Extra info
For those assigned to ships, many lived on the ship.
policies that required personnel to be in uniform when entering / leaving base and while on the base

Maverick’s Jackets
G-1 Military Flight Jacket in TG and TGM
Based on certain patches, Maverick's leather flight jacket originally belonged to his dad
OR since ANJ-3 (Army Navy Jacket 3) was standardized as the G-1 jacket in 1947 and has stayed the same, it could be that Maverick had patches from his dad and sew them when he received his G-1 on the first day of his Aviation Indoctrination program.
Patches that could belongs to Duke Michelle (Issued during/before the Vietnam war)
USS Galveston CLG-3: Far East Cruise 63′-64′

Hangman & Rooster's First Training Aircraft
-
Based on their T/M/S info:
Hangman: T-34, T-45, FA-18C/D/E/F
Rooster: T-6, T-45, FA-18C/D/E/F
-
And based on this little bit outdated pilot training pipeline (probably during 2005-2015, T-34 was replaced with T-6 in April 2015):
-
Hangman was trained with T-34
T-34C Turbo Mentor
--
Rooster was trained with T-6
T-6A Texan II turboprop
--
Then both got trained with T-45C during advanced training program for jet carrier aviation and tactical strike missions.
T-45C Goshawk jet aircraft
--
Maverick would have trained in T-34C Turbo Mentor

F/A-18 Blue Angel model on Maverick's workbench
Based on the font/details shown in the movie, I'm fairly certain this is one of the following toys
RW090 - RUNWAY24 USN BLUE ANGELS F/A-18
RW810 - RUNWAY24 F/A-18 BLUE ANGELS NO RUNWAY
The one with runway looks to have brighter yellow painting making it look extra similar, but that could be just camera setting differences.
-update!
I was able to purchase both from Amazon:
Sadly no licensed/manufactured date, so still doesn't know when Maverick would have been able to get this.
Based on my observations both models are identical, just difference of having the cute little runway or runway 24 sign.
