my favorite example of Elder Scrolls Online Quest Writing (TM) is this one quest where like. okay lemme greentext this shit

talk to random Argonian in town

he says a Dark Elf couple bought his daughter as a slave and worked her to death years ago

him and his wife have already killed the couple in question in revenge, but now they want to kill the couple's daughter too

ask for your help to lure her into an ambush

walk ten feet to a bar where the now-adult daughter is hanging out

you can ask her about her parents, she says she was really young when they owned slaves and she doesn't approve of it at all in retrospect

you are given multiple options to either warn her about the ambush or walk her directly into it

if you warn her about the ambush, your only option is to kill the Argonians outright. if you don't warn her, you have to help kill her. no diplomacy, only death

if you didn't warn the Dark Elf and killed her, the wife of the Argonian couple says afterwards that "we killed them all, but our daughter remains dead. we are just as bad as them"

if you felt bad for the Dark Elf girl and killed her attackers, as soon as the quest ends, she cheerfully says "gee willikers i can't wait til this Pact falls apart so i can go back to owning slaves just like my parents"
