After the past day, when it became clear the 22 holdouts were not going to budge (probably because they were receiving death threats from Jordan's camp), Jordan announced he will not seek a third vote. Instead, the GOP is working to empower Speaker Pro Tempore McHenry as acting Speaker for the rest of the year:

So, even tho the House GOP has the majority, they couldn't actually find anyone who could get the majority of their votes to elect a Speaker.

Wide consensus is that no Republican can gather the 217 votes from the GOP necessary to win the Speakership. In other words, they're probably going to need the Democrats to bail them out again.

Wanting to prep everyone ahead of time that the House GOP is about to get even worse than it was before, which is quite the feat. Chances are high that someone like Scalise will get the Speakership.
