it's an unexpected visit, and maybe, had things been different, she would have been on edge. azira is too tired for a rage she might have had. the hurt is still there, and it may never really go away. her chest still ached and longed for a place she no longer felt was hers.

maybe she could adjust to the vanilla kingdom, or perhaps she would find herself on the move, trying to find a place that felt like her own.

maybe she was just tired. she was always tired.

she remembers what was said exactly, constantly relives what happened. she feels awful for clinging to that memory. azira sighs and closes her eyes.

lilith spent most of her time in the garden, away from everyone else. it felt like that's what was better -- she wasn't...

even if she was what remained. the things done would always be a weight on her shoulders, overtaken with guilt and regret. there was permanent harm done -- there were things done she couldn't ever make up for.

she remembers how things used to be. she deserved the lack of trust. she asked too many questions, wanted to know too many things. that curiosity came at a heavy cost.

lilith closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. she would have done everything differently if she had known.

she hums softly as she tends to the flowers -- lilith jumps slightly at the appearance of magnus. they hadn't interacted much since her return, so of course she's surprised at the sight of him. she blinks a few times as he speaks before she begins to frown. at first, she doesn't know what to say, still reeling from his appearance and his words.

he didn’t say a word as he approached them. jj’s sly look was painted on his face as he gripped the small dagger hidden under his sleeve. a quick movement and the blade was plunged into rogue, not particularly concerned for where so long as it landed. smile never faltered, even when jj started to walk away.

it wasn’t as if it wasn’t without prompting. he didn’t like the way rogue looked at some of jj’s fellow hybrids.

rogue hadn’t been planning anything. they truly were just existing. at what cost, they didn’t know, but... it was nothing nefarious, so that counted for something, right? they weren’t doing anything. which, well, makes what happens next a hell of a lot more surprising. 

rogue wasn’t going to die, they knew that much. the vampire twists around quickly and snarls at the sneaky bastard. they’re not sure they’re right in their assumption, but...
