Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) , October 7 (Always First): India batter Sanju Samson on Thursday played one of the most brilliant innings of his international career as he scored an unbeaten 86, but failed to take Shikhar Dhawan-led Team India over the line against South Africa in the first ODI of the three-match series at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
The right-handed batter kept the host's hopes alive in the game till the last over, when India needed 30 runs, but as soon as he missed the fourth delivery, the game was over for Men in Blue.
"It is always nice to spend some time in the middle and we always play to take our team over the line. I missed connecting two shots, next time I will work even harder. But I am satisfied with my contribution," Samson said in a post-match press conference.
Samson returned with an unbeaten score of 86 with the help of 9 fours and 3 sixes. Speaking about South Africa's bowler Tabraiz Shamsi, Samson said that they decided to target the Proteas bowler in the last over as he knew that Shamsi was a little expensive against India in the game.
"Their bowlers were going about things nicely, Tabraiz Shamsi was a little expensive today so we felt we can target them. We knew he would bowl the last over, I knew if I had to get 24 runs in the final over, I can hit four sixes. I was taking the game deep, the plan was this only and the batters responded nicely," he added.
Further talking about the match against Proteas, Samson said: "It is always nice to spend some time in the middle and we always play to take our team over the line. I missed connecting two shots, next time I will work even harder. But I am satisfied with my contribution."
India lost to South Africa by 9 runs in a 40-over rain-truncated match played here at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow in the first game of the three-match ODI series.

Apple on Thursday announced the availability of iPhone 14 Plus, featuring a 6.7-inch display, an upgraded dual-camera system, Crash Detection, Emergency SOS via satellite, A15 Bionic and improved battery life, in India and other countries from Friday.
The customers in India can purchase iPhone 14 in colours like midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT) RED in 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage starting from Rs 89,900.
Customers who pre-ordered iPhone 14 Plus online will also begin receiving deliveries from Friday.

Panasonic unveils 4K professional camcorders in India
Japanese tech giant Panasonic on Thursday introduced two new 4K professional camcorders, Panasonic HC-X2 and HC-X20, for the growing community of videography professionals in India.
The new camcorders have integrated with 20x optical zoom, 24.5mm wide angle for both UHD and FHD, 4K high-precision AF with new face detection, and higher precision with a 1.0-type (1.0-inch) sensor.
HC-X2 is priced at Rs 2,69,990 and HC-X20 will cost Rs 2,29,990. Both the models can be purchased from across all the Panasonic stores in the country.
"The new models support highest quality of video production with next-generation technology, which seamlessly fits into the workflows of professional videographers", said Hardeep Sarna, Business Chief, Imaging Business Group, Panasonic Life Solutions India.

Akasa Air launches maiden flights from Delhi, announces pet-friendly service
After the completion of two months of its operations, Akasa Air is set to establish Delhi as the sixth destination on its network and inaugurate its first flight on the Delhi-Bengaluru and Delhi-Ahmedabad routes on October 7.
The airline also announced Pets-on-Board, a pet-friendly service in line with its commitment to create an inclusive travel experience.
Both the new routes will be served with daily flights in each direction. The airline has announced eight destinations so far, including Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Agartala and Guwahati being covered with 11 non-stop routes.

Produced by Kalyan Subramanian and Kaarthekeyen Santhanam of Stone Bench Films, and written and directed by Charukesh Sekar, the Amazon Prime Video's film is a drama thriller that is an empowering story of a woman who rises like a phoenix in the face of adversity. Ammu traces the thrilling transformation of a woman from being a victim of domestic violence to overcome her internal conflicts, discovering her inner strength and giving the big payback to her abusive husband.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) , October 7 (AF): The shooting for Pratik Gandhi-starrer 'Agni' has come to an end.
Helmed by 'Raees' fame Rahul Dholakia, 'Agni' also stars Divyendu Sharma and Saiyami Kher.
Excel Entertainment, the production company of Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, has produced 'Agni'.
Announcing the film's wrap, Farhan took to Instagram Story and congratulated the team.
He shared a picture of the film's cast with the director and wrote, "Congratulations team Agni."
The social media team of Excel Entertainment also shared a few pictures from the set to announce the film's wrap.
Reportedly, 'Agni' is based on firefighters and their challenges. Saie Tamhankar is also a part of the project. The film was extensively shot in Mumbai and Delhi.

Judge grants Elon Musk's request to halt Twitter trial until October 28

Washington , October 7 (AF): The Twitter-Musk trial is now on pause. Yes, you read it right.
A Delaware court has delayed Elon Musk's Twitter trial to allow the Tesla CEO more time to complete his USD 44 billion purchase of the social media platform, Variety reported.
"If the transaction does not close by 5 p.m. on October 28, 2022, the parties are instructed to contact me by email that evening to obtain November 2022 trial dates," the judge, Delaware Chancery Court chancellor Kathaleen St. Judge McCormick, said in the order.
Musk, after trying for three months to exit his deal to buy Twitter, in the last few days has grown frustrated that Twitter wasn't calling off its lawsuit. Lawyers representing Musk, in a filing Thursday with the Delaware Court of Chancery, requested that the trial, slated to commence October 17, be suspended while he works out a deal to finalize the required debt financing to swing the acquisition. Musk expects that to happen by October 28, per the court filing.
Twitter had opposed halting the trial, writing in a court filing that doing so was "an invitation to further mischief and delay."
Musk on Monday informed Twitter that he would proceed with his original USD 54.20/share offer for the company, valued at USD 44 billion, after he previously claimed on three occasions that he was justified in walking away from the agreement because (he had alleged) Twitter violated the merger terms. Attorneys for Twitter have argued that Musk simply didn't want to pay what he originally promised because his net worth declined with a drop in Tesla's stock price.
Musk's legal team wrote in Thursday's court filing, "Twitter will not take yes for an answer. Astonishingly, they have insisted on proceeding with this litigation, recklessly putting the deal at risk and gambling with their stockholders' interests. Proceeding toward trial is not only an enormous waste of party and judicial resources, it will undermine the ability of the parties to close the transaction."
Twitter argued in its court filing Thursday that the merger "can and should close next week."
"Until commit to close as required, Twitter is entitled to its day in court, to demonstrate its entitlement to specific performances and prove breaches so as to ensure complete relief in the event the closing should for any reason not occur," the company's lawyers said.
Twitter, in responding to Musk's Oct. 3 letter, had said in a statement, "We received the letter from the Musk parties which they have filed with the SEC. The intention of the company is to close the transaction at USD 54.20 per share." (AF)

Nine leopards serving 'life imprisonment' in U'khand!
Many would find it surprising that Uttarakhand has a transit and rehabilitation centre where nine Guldars (leopards) are kept in cages on charges of killing humans or entering into human settlement areas.
The Chidiyapur Transit and Rehabilitation Centre built on Haridwar-Najibabad Highway houses nine leopards serving their "prison term".
The imprisonment is such that the hope of release is negligible, and thus it becomes "life imprisonment".
These "convicted" leopards include Ruby, Rocky, Dara, Munna, Jat, Mona, Gabbar and Joshi.
A female leopard named Ruby, caught on charges of "human homicide" in 2015 when she was just six years old, is serving a sentence for the last seven years.
These leopards are released into open space for a few hours in daylight and then imprisoned in cages.
They are fed chicken, mutton and meat on six days of a week. While on Tuesday, all nine leopards have to observe a fast.
Thirteen-year-old man-eater Rocky was caught in Tehri's Santala village in 2017.
Similarly, Dara, aged 12, was caught from Kotdwar's Lalpani in 2017. Four-year-old Munna Guldar is locked here since birth due to separation from mother.
On the other hand, 6-year-old Mona was taken to the centre after she had entered DPS School in Rishikesh in 2020. Similarly, 10-year-old Gabbar was caught from Haridwar Forest Division in 2020.
An eight-year-old leopard was caught from Joshimath in 2020 has been named Joshi.
Uttarakhand's Chief Wildlife Warden Sameer Sinha says that this is a rehabilitation centre for wildlife. "Here animals injured in different incidents are brought for treatment and they are again released in their natural habitat after treatment."
However, in the case of leopard, Sinha says that since they become man-eaters, these lepards are imprisoned in cages here and then their release becomes impossible. Due to human touch and being in a cage for a long time, these leopards have become more dreaded under mental stress. Now it is not even possible to release them in the wild.
On Tuesday's fast, the Chief Wildlife Warden says that the animals do not get prey daily in the forest, so they are kept on fast for one day. This also improves their health.

Nykaa signs deal with Apparel Group to intensify West Asia ops

New Delhi , October 7 (AF): Beauty and fashion retailer Nykaa announced it has entered into an agreement to form a joint venture with Apparel Group, the largest lifestyle retail conglomerate in West Asia, to enter the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) market across the Kingdom of Bahrain, Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Qatar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The JV will create a new omnichannel entity in West Asia, which will be focused on beauty brands. Nykaa will have 55 per cent stake and the balance will be held by Apparel.
For the time being, the announcement didn't reveal the exact investment size or any revenue-sharing plans. The deal is estimated to be closed by March 31, 2023.
"To us, the investment is not the main thing, the market, its potential and what we can do in those markets and the revenue potential is what we should get excited about," said Falguni Nayar, founder and chief executive officer of Nykaa during the announcement.
In India, Nykaa has 112 retail stores (as of June 30, 2022), catering to nearly 28,000 pincodes and offering over 4,500 brands across platforms.
With this pact, the beauty and fashion retailer aims to leverage Apparel's wide network of offline retail stores of about 2,000 across 14 countries that offer around 75 brands. Apparel Group, founded by Sima Ved in 1996, is an omnichannel retailer in West Asia based out of the UAE.

On Wednesday, Prabhas attended Delhi's largest Ramlila, organised annually at the historic Red Fort grounds for its iconic celebrations where he was given the honour to perform the Raavan Dahan.
For the festivities, which the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee arranged, Prabhas was present along with his 'Adipurush' director Om Raut and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal.
Meanwhile, ever since the teaser of Prabhas starrer 'Adupurush' has been unveiled, the film and its depiction of Ramayan has been a hot topic of discussion. The mythological movie has been slammed widely for its poor VFX and the "misrepresentation" of characters. Earlier, while speaking to ANI about Ramayana, BJP spokesperson Malavika Avinash had said, "It represents this nation, its civilisation and its people. So no one can take it for granted, let alone a film director. I am angry and this misrepresentation saddens me".
'Adipurush' has been produced by T Series and Retrophiles. It is slated to hit the theatres on January 12, 2023, in IMAX and 3D. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Om, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair, the film will be released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada. (Always First)

'Kahani RubberBand Ki' trailer crossed 18 million views in one day

Mumbai (Maharashtra) , October 6 (Always First/NewsVoir): Bollywood has an array of genres in which hundreds of films are made every year. However, there has been a gap when it comes to making films revolving around sexual backgrounds. It is considered a big taboo in the country, but there are a few filmmakers who ensure to raise awareness about it through cinema. Debutante filmmaker and writer Sarika Sanjot is coming up with a power-packed film titled 'Kahani RubberBand Ki'.
The film has an ensemble star cast including Pratik Gandhi, Avika Gor, Manish Raisinghan, Aruna Irani, Kanwarjit Paintal and Gaurav Gera playing important roles. The trailer of 'Kahani RubberBand Ki' was released on October 3, and it has been getting an overwhelming response from the critics and the viewers. Going by trailer, the film promises to be a comedy entertainer and talks about sexual education and the use of condoms.
As per the trailer, Manish and Avika will be seen as a couple whereas Pratik is essaying the role of a lawyer in the comedy film. The 2-minute 16 seconds trailer gives a sneak peek into the life of a couple turning upside down by an accidental pregnancy because of a protection malfunction. Leaving everyone surprised, the film has managed to clock more than 18 million views on YouTube in less than 24 hours.
Well, the numbers are still rising and it clearly shows that the film's trailer has hit the bullseye with its informative yet entertaining content. The primary motive of director Sarika Sanjot was to raise awareness and entertain the audience about sex education. And it seems that she has succeeded in bringing the narrative in a hilarious way for the viewers.

Speaking about the terrific response to the film's trailer, the director said, "I am ecstatic and glad about the love we are getting for the film's trailer. As I make my foray into the industry with this film, I am delighted to execute and bring an important story to the audience." In addition, she stated that numbers were never her priority. "When the content is good, the number game will gradually increase," she added.
Besides Sarika Sanjot's directorial debut in Bollywood, 'Kahani RubberBand Ki' will also see Manish Raisinghan and Avika Gor as leading actors in a Hindi film. Produced by Sarika's banner Moon House Productions, 'Kahani RubberBand Ki' is slated to hit the cinemas on October 14, 2022.

Akasa Air to allow pets on board soon

New Delhi , October 6 (AF): After Air India, late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala-backed Akasa Air on Thursday announced that it would allow pets on board from November 1.
With this, this airline became the second commercial Indian carrier to permit pets on board.
"We are announcing pets on-board from November 1 this year, for which the bookings will commence from October 15 and the flying will start from November 1," Belson Coutinho, Chief Marketing and Experience Officer of Akasa Air told ANI.
Akasa will only allow pets weighing 7 kg in the cabin.
"The pets up to 7 kg (one pet) are allowed in/on board the cabin...the rest may be allowed in the cargo," Akasa Air said.
Earlier, Air India was the only commercial airline in the country which allowed pets on board with specific weights.
Further, Akasa Air has clarified that only domesticated pets (cats and dogs) will be allowed to fly in the cabin by paying a fee amount, which shall be announced shortly.
After completing nearly 60 days in the airline business, Vinay Dubey, CEO of India's low-cost airline, Akasa Air, announced that it will get 18 brand-new aircraft by the end of March next year.
"We expect 18 new Boeing 737-MAX aircraft by the end of March 2023," CEO Vinay Dubey told ANI.
Dubey further confirmed that there will be no change in the strategy or the policy of the airline after the demise of Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. (AF)

Kareena Kapoor Khan gives sneak peek into preparation for Hansal Mehta's next

New Delhi , October 6 (Always First): Actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, on Thursday treated fans with a glimpse from the sets of her upcoming movie with filmmaker Hansal Mehta on social media.
Taking to her Instagram stories, the 'Jab We Met' actor dropped a behind-the-scenes picture.
In the picture, Kareena was seen getting ready for the shot in the vanity van.
Sharing the picture, Getting ready for Day 1 Tom..." she also tagged the ace director Hansal Mehta and Ektaa Kapoor.
Kareena is currently in London for the shoot.
Reportedly, it's the debut film of Kareena as a producer. And Hansal's next flick will be backed by Ektaa Kapoor.
A month ago, Kareena dropped a picture from the project's script reading session.
In an Instagram picture, there is a script spiral book with the title of the film written on it. Though, the 42-year-old actor didn't reveal the full title, only, 'The' and 'Murder' could be seen rest she hid with a pencil on it.
On working with Kareena, Ektaa has earlier shared, "Kareena has been an actor with a huge, admirable (almost envious) body of work... and while her male co-stars turned producers in due course, she's finally joined the bandwagon now! I've always believed that women have an equal part or play in the business and success of a film."Ektaa added, "It's been a hard journey, but an encouraging & happy one! I'm so glad that today, we can empower each other like this! Here's to wishing Kareena Kapoor Khan the best on her journey as a producer...adding another feather to her already illustrious career! Meanwhile, on the work front, Kareena was seen in 'Laal Singh Chadha' opposite Aamir Khan. She also recently wrapped up shooting her OTT debut project helmed by Sujoy Ghosh.
