The Look
Tumblr media
It was just another workday as it would have seemed. The fans' cheers could be heard from the locker room area, along with the sounds of multiple intense arguments echoing down the corridors. It would have been quite a nice evening if it wasn’t for me having to break up yet another fight between my brother, Ted, and my best friend, Daniel. But at this point it seemed to be a regular thing now-a-days. It just feels like it never ends with those two.
As I turned the corner, the room glossed over with a violent demeanor when I laid eyes on Teddy, having pinned Daniel to the ground and was repeatedly throwing blows to his head. Here we go again, I thought to myself. Crossing my arms, I stepped forward with my gaze sternly fixed on my brother. In that moment, my presence was enough to make Ted halt all further aggressive actions. He immediately ceased his assault on Daniel, standing up straight under my watchful eye.
“What do you think you’re doing?” I said, my voice firm and unwavering.
“YNN, it’s not what it looks like.” Teddy tried to defend himself, though the sound of his voice tinged with apprehension.
I knew better than to believe that. I had put an end to these altercations more than a few dozen times before. My brother had a habit of letting his anger get the best of him and lashing out at others, not thinking about the consequences beforehand. To say I was growing quite tired of it would be an understatement and a half.
Without uttering a single word, I scolded him with a disapproving gaze. A silent reprimand that would often be the only thing he would understand as a reminder that his actions were not acceptable, no matter the reasoning behind them. Out of everything, I don't understand why that works but hey I won't complain that it does. Ted, after being confronted with my disappointed expression, chose to say nothing in return and walked away. Smart boy.
Turning my attention to Daniel, I offered him a small sad smile and a hand up, taking notice of the blood that was now trickling down his face. While it wasn’t really my responsibility to meddle in their conflicts, something they had both told me over and over again, I couldn't stand idly by while my brother pelted my best friend with hard hitting blows to the face. It pissed me off to do so, if I was being honest with you.
“Thanks,” Daniel said as he finally got up on his own two feet. “Still not your battle, you know.”
“My brother, my battle.” I responded and started to dab off the blood with a damped cloth that a crew member had just given me. “Even if not directly. Not even daddy can set his happy ass straight. Calls me every time." I admitted to him. “If he wants to fight you, great, it's part of our job description anyway. But he can wait until you are in the ring and not backstage. For one, that’s the coward's way of cheating the system and for two, if you want to beat the hell out of somebody you might as well get paid to do it.”
Daniel chuckled, a mix of appreciation and understanding crossing his face. “To his defense, I might have started it.”
A small smile spread upon my face as I shook my head slightly. “Look Bryan, I really don’t care who or what started it. It is my concern, as his sister and your friends, that when blood is drawn outside of that arena that I stop it no matter what the circumstances may be." I wiped the remainder of the blood from his face. “McMahon can threaten termination all he wants but he doesn’t know y’all like I do. He doesn’t know that firing you guys won’t solve anything, not with the way you two got at it. When Teddy and I first came into the company, Ted tried to pick a fight with anyone and everyone to make a name, in ring and out. Vince called our father, and all the old man told him was to get me to handle it. That has got to give you some sort of idea why I do what I do and why I put myself into the picture of these things.”
I handed the cloth back to the crew member and looked at Daniel sincerely. “I believe in your ability to take on any challenge just as much as I believe in Teddy’s. But one of you, if not careful, will end up seriously injured and you both know how I feel about hospitals.”
He nodded. “Yeah, we’re all SOL if we end up in the hospital and are counting on you to be there.”
“Ya damn skippy.” I exclaimed with a straight face. “Now get that head looked at. I can only wipe away so much blood before I, myself, start to feel woozy. I got to deal with the other idiot I tend to associate myself with on a constant basis.”
Daniel nodded and turned, making his way to medical. I stood there for a moment to take note of the last parts of that conversation. Maybe I got into the wrong profession. I thought to myself. Oh well, we’re here now. With that I turned and made my way down the now empty hallway towards my brother’s locker room.

Broke Him
Tumblr media
I was normally the one that took any storyline offered up to me. I was making money either way, providing for the ones I love. They got me the publicity I needed to crank my career up a notch. But the same couldn’t have been said about this last one. Creative wanted me to do a storyline with Bayley, a romantic one, and I turned it down. The fact that I turned it down surprised everyone, even myself just slightly, and I have been getting confused looks and raised eyebrows from everyone for the better part of the day. Couldn't say I blame them either. They don’t know my reasoning behind it.
Later that evening I was heading back towards my locker room when Balor approached me, a curious expression written upon his face. “Hey mate, heard you turned down a storyline. Care to share what that’s about?”
“Yeah… I did.” I admitted and placed my hands into the pockets of my jacket. “Just couldn’t do that specific one. They’ll find another to fill in that role, just not me.”
His eyebrow was raised for a moment. “Why not? I mean, dude, you normally jump at any and every opportunity. Why not that one?”
I shrugged slightly before saying, “Because I have more respect for my girl than I do for a romantic storyline, Finn.”
The Irish lad in front of me looked as if he had misheard my words but I knew he didn’t. I said what I said, and I meant every word. “Your girl? I understand the whole ‘having more respect for her’ thing but I wasn't even aware you had gotten with someone.”
“Yeah, well, I have. YN, actually.” I admitted as I looked over in her direction. She didn’t know, or at least I don't believe she had heard about me getting offered that storyline. I wouldn’t have been surprised if she had though, considering the whole locker room area has by now.
Finn looked back at the YHC haired girl, who stood talking to Charlotte. “Really?” he questioned. “When did that happen?”
“Quite a while ago, actually.” I said and smiled over at her when she noticed that the two of us were looking at her and smiled. Finn turned back to me with an evident look of skepticism upon his face. “You don’t believe me, do you.”
“It's kind of hard when the connection isn’t plain to see.” he said, and I do have to admit, I would have agreed with him if I was anyone else.
YNN and I really haven’t really put our relationship out there… until now that is. We figured it was better to keep work life and personal life separate for the time being and to be fair it has worked out better than expected. Now does that mean we don’t want to fold when the other gets even the slightest bit hurt in the ring? No, of course not. But we kept a check on each other in other ways. Looks from across the room and a text after our matches. It’s worked for us so far with no love lost.
“Wanted to keep it low-key for at least a while, especially at work. Didn’t want any unnecessary attention or complications.” I confessed and looked back down at him. “It’s worked so far. But creative had to go and throw a wrench on that by giving me an offer I couldn't take and now everyone is going to question my sanity for a while, which I can undoubtedly live with. It’s YN’s decision though if she wants to announce it completely.”
“Then why did you just tell me?” he questioned.
I watched as my girl split off from her conversation with Charlotte and walked over, having obviously been listening to the conversation but still trying to keep her face as neutral as possible to not let her best friend in on the fact she was only half-assed listening to her. “I don’t think there could be one other person in this entire company that can keep a secret better than the two of us, Finn.” she said as she made her way to the spot standing right next to him. “Or we have a mutual agreement that we trust you with that little piece of information better than anyone. Couldn’t tell you which one yet. Could be both.” Her tone was playful but hinted at the sincerity in her words.
Finn just about jumped out of his skin when he finally realized she was standing right beside him, and I couldn't help but laugh. “Dammit, YNN, you don’t have to sneak up on me like that.”
“Dude, I wasn’t that quiet.” she commented with a laugh I swore was a beautiful melody by itself. “Should get your hearing checked my guy. Seems like you’re losing it.”
“Losing my mind, maybe.” the Irish man said and rolled his eyes. “Did you hear what he did? You broke him.”
YN and I both laughed at his statement. “I didn’t break him. I didn’t ask him to pass it up. He could have done it if he wanted to. The whole point of keeping work and personal life separate. It was totally his decision and whatever the decision may be, I'll stand by him on it.”
“That and I didn't exactly get a chance to tell her about it before turning it down. They offered. I said no. It was, in total, a five-minute conversation.” I confessed.
Finn turned to YNN, “You didn’t know?”
The YHC haired girl just shook her head. “Had no idea until Ashley told me about it ten minutes ago. So no, I didn't break him.”
“No, apparently not,” he said and turned back to me. “You’re just going mental.”

Runaway
Tumblr media
YN and Dolph had been thick as thieves ever since she joined the WWE. He was the one that she felt like she could talk about anything with, and he felt the same way about her. So, when childhood memories came up on their carpooled trip to the next event site, it was not even the slightest bit shocking. It was something that they did often, and they enjoyed it.
“When I say Ryan just about broke his arm, I mean it. Kept complaining about it for days." Nic said, trying to contain the chuckle that wanted to slide out underneath his breath.
YN, who had already given in to the fits of laughter that had overtaken her, nodded and said, “Yeah, I would have too if my ass was just dumb enough to jump off of the house just to see if I could land it on a trampoline.” She slowly wiped away the tears that she had shed from laughing as hard as she was. “If the word dumbass had a picture next to it in the dictionary, it would be one of your brother doing that. Which I would have paid to see, just for your information.”
“What about you? Mmm? What stupid shit did you do in your youth?” he questioned with a smile on his face.
YN thought about it for a moment and shook her head. “Other than the whole run away from home at eighteen, I can't say I have done anything completely dumbfounding, to be completely honest with you.”
Nic quickly looked over at her and then back to the road. “You ran away from home?” His tone was one of complete shock. It was not something he expected her to say. Up until that point all he knew was that she had the best relationship with her folks growing up. But the more he started thinking about it the more Dolph realized that she rarely, if ever, spoke about her teenage or young adult years and he never had wondered why until now.
“Uhh… yeah.” YNN said, face falling from the realization she had never told her best friend that little piece of information before. “My childhood was great, you know that, but when I turned thirteen, maybe even fourteen, my parents were going through their divorce. Mom became a workaholic, never spending more than three, maybe four, hours at home, and dad, after moving out, drowned his sorrows in alcohol. He wasn’t a horrible drunk, but he wasn’t the best either.” she confessed as she began to play with the frayed strings at the bottom of her sweatshirt.
Nic was not used to hearing this furious warrior women he has come to know and love sound so small but she was finally opening up that part of her life to him and though he didn’t push her into telling him any of it, he wasn’t about to tell her to stop when she felt him to be a safe person to actually talk about this with.
“I did everything I could to please them both. I did my chores without being asked. Kept my grades up to above average. Applied to both to their preferred colleges and got accepted to both. But it seemed nothing I did was enough. Mom bought a prom dress but wasn’t there to help me get ready, so I ended up not going because it wasn’t going to be the same. She was late for my graduation. By the time she got there I had already walked the stage and accepted my diploma. Dad just didn’t show his face at all. At that point I was done with it all and wanted to trade my life in for a different one. I called my grandma in southern Kentucky and though she didn’t have a room for me, she and grandpa had just kicked out the renters of their rental house and told me if I promised to keep up with the place and help them pay the property bills, it was mine for the taking.” She took a moment to pause and finally looked over at him.
“For me it was a no brainer. I packed everything I thought I would need or want the next day while my mother was at work, left a note for her on her bedroom door, and was gone before she ever got home that night. Haven’t set eyes upon that house since then and honestly don’t plan to either.”
“Do you ever miss it?” he questioned without taking his eyes off the road. “Home, I mean.”
YN just shrugged and looked out of the front windshield. “I miss the home I had when I was a child. But not the one I drove away from that day." She took a deep breath and then continued. “My mother didn’t even notice I was gone for three days before she started calling around. By that time, I had already made it to Kentucky, been there for a day and a half, and grandpa and I were painting the house to colors that were more me. That place hadn’t been home for a long time before then and it won’t be now either. And to be completely honest, if I didn’t leave then the likeliness of me getting into this profession would have been slim to none. My mother never liked the idea of me being into wrestling the way I was, but grandma and grandpa were willing to support me in whatever endeavor I was into. So, there’s that too.”
Dolph nodded at her admission. “Well then, in that case, I'm sorry for the way it happened, but I'm not sorry about where it got you. I don’t think I want to imagine life in this business without you in it.”
YNN smiled slightly. “Even if you were in it at the time I wasn't?”
He chuckled. “I tend not to dwell on that fact for very long,” he confessed. “That was a whole different time.”
The two of them continued their ride with funny stories from their life in the business. Nic was happy that she had opened up to him in a way he hadn’t expected her to. But it gave him a greater understanding of her as a person and for that he was grateful.

To Be There
Tumblr media
YN YLN and her boyfriend, Jeff Hardy were strolling through the corridors of the backstage area after Jeff's match against Edge. They held hands as they walked back towards his locker room. Little did the couple know there was trouble lurking just in the shadows. Just as they turned the last corner, Matt, Jeff's older brother, and his girlfriend, Lita, emerged from their now evident hiding spots. The two launched their planned attack on the unsuspecting couple.
Jeff and YNN did their damnedest to fight them off the best they could, swapping blows with the other couple. But amidst the chaos, YNN found herself thrown into some equipment that was off to the side, which knocked her out cold. Matt laid one final blow to his younger brother before he and Lita ran off in the opposite direction of the distressed scene.
When he finally noticed his unconscious girlfriend barely being held upright by a storage case on the other side of the hallway, the raven-haired man was struck with panic and called for medical assistance as he made his way over to the girl. Minutes later, the sound of wailing sirens filled the air as the YLN girl was rushed out of the arena and to the nearest hospital. Jeff never once left her side the entire way, holding her hand as a way to comfort not only her but himself as well. The man made a silent vow that his brother would pay for this. To him, this action was unforgivable.
The news of Matt and Lita's attack spread around the locker room area like wildfire and when it finally got to Christian, YN's best friend, he could feel his heart sink in his chest. Worry fueled his determination as he gathered his things, as well as running to Jeff's locker room to gather theirs as well and hurried out of the arena. As he traveled the roads of Las Vegas, he tried to keep his thoughts positive. She had to be okay.
When he arrived at the hospital, he found the Hardy boy sitting next to his girlfriend's hospital bedside. YN was still out cold as she lay almost lifeless in the bed. The sight crushed the former tag team champ and he hesitated to walk inside the room.
After a few moments of standing in the doorway, Christian approached the other man, concerned etched on his face. "Hey, man." He said and placed a comforting hand on Jeff's shoulder.
"Oh, hey, Jay." The raven haired man greeted sadly as he looked up at him.
"How is she?" Jay questioned as he walked around the bed and sat down in the chair on the other side.
"Physically, other than a concussion and a slightly fractured shoulder blade from the impact, she's fine. Just a waiting game for her to wake up." Jeff confessed as he ran a hand through his hair. "I get... I get that Matt and I agreed to feud together but I never imagined that he would drag YNN into this. Don't get me wrong, man, she can fight if need be but she isn't a wrestler. You know her as well as I do, if not more, you know she doesn't want to be a major part of this kind of life. She’s happy with just being in the background."
Jason nodded his head, silently agreeing with his friend's statement. "Why do you think they did this?" He questioned as he looked upon the YHC haired girl's sleeping figure.
The other man shrugged, not knowing what to think at that point. "Your guess would be as good as mine right about now." He admitted and leaned back in his chair for the first time since he had sat down in it. "But he'll pay for it, I can assure you that. YN shouldn't be laying in this damn bed. Amy took it too far."
Christian went to say something else but was cut short by a small whimper escaping YN's mouth as she began to finally wake. Both men quickly sat up in their seats. She squinted slightly from the bright lights.
"Hey, baby girl," Jeff said as he took her hand in his. "How are you feeling?"
"Been better." She confessed, her voice raspy from sleep and lack of moisture in her mouth, "Do I dare ask what happened?"
"Matt and Amy happened." Jay stated, his tone full of anger for a moment. "She threw you into an equipment case and, well, you were bad enough they sent you here."
YN rolled her eyes at the words of her best friend. "Oh, great, unwanted exposure therapy. How lovely?"
"Yeah, well, you did give us quite the scare when you wouldn't wake up at the arena." Her boyfriend said and gave her hand a gentle squeeze. "I know you're not liking this, but the medics were concerned you were worse off than just the concussion and fractured shoulder that you ended up having, so you can't blame them."
"I don't," She said truthfully. "Just want to get out of here."
"I'll go tell the nurse you're awake. If we're lucky, we can go home in the morning. "Jeff stated as he stood from his seat. "Would you like anything?"
"Water would be great." The YHC girl admitted. "Cotton mouth is a bitch right about now."
"You got it." The man gave his girlfriend a small kiss on her forehead and walked out to inform her nurse.
Christian gave her a small worried smile as she looked over at him to which she returned. "Glad to see you're okay." He admitted to keep the conversation going to try to keep her mind off where she was, knowing her extreme dislike for hospitals.
She hummed slightly in response. "Why do you look like you're running on just purely coffee and nothing else?"
"Kinda am." Jay admitted to his best friend. "Got to the hotel at, like, three in the morning and had to be at the children's hospital at seven. So I'm running on, maybe, four hours and five cups of coffee."
"Damn, you're starting to sound like Jeff. Minus the ‘holy fuck, I'm glad that's over.’" She joked.
The blonde man chuckled and nodded, "Oh, but I'm thinking about it, I can assure you of that."
"Thank you, Jay," YN said after a moment or two. "For coming, I mean. After a jam-packed day, I would have understood if you were too tired to check on me."
"Shut your mouth, YNN, I could have been two states away when I heard and I would still have found a way to make it here to stay with you and Jeff until you got to go home." He confessed and reached over her to take hold of the hand that the Hardy man once was. "You don't have to thank me for doing my job as your best friend because it's something I will always find a way to do when you need me."
YNN smiled at his comforting words. She knew that she could always count on him and Jeff in moments like these. Neither man would ever leave her side when she needed them the most. The YLN girl often thought she would never be able to express just how grateful she was for the two of them. But as time went on she would sure as hell try.

Trip Up
Tumblr media
The anticipation hung heavily in the air as YNN Snap stepped into the ring, readying herself to face off against Carmella. The cheers of the crowd in the stands echoed around her, fueling her determination. Little did she know that this match would almost become the biggest turning point in her friendship with her best friend, Corey.
The match progressed in YNN's favor but she could sense something amiss as she watched Corey stand from his seat at the commentary table and walk over to ringside. It was out of the norm for him and the fact that it was his wife she was facing only made the gut feeling she had worse. Suddenly, when the referee couldn't see what he was doing, Graves grabbed YNN's foot causing her to fall. Upon landing a sharp pain ran through her arm as she tried to catch herself.
Carmella, ever the opportunist, swiftly delivered a match ending move, securing the victory. Fury mixed with physical and emotional pain welled up within the YHC haired girl as she realized what had just transpired. Her emotions consumed her as she held her hurt arm to her body to stabilize it. She turned to Mr. Graves, her eyes burning with hurt and anger. "Why would you do that?!” YNN questioned as silence fell over the audience. "I can't believe you!"
Her words stung him like venom as she slid out of the ring and walked up the ramp to the backstage area. Corey watched as the medics met her on the stage and the guilt hit him like a tidal wave when they escorted YNN to the back. He never meant to hurt her in any capacity, he just knew what he was told to do and he did it. But he hurt his best friend in the process and that was worse than any blow he could ever take.
After the show concluded, Corey retreated backstage, seething with guilt and regret of what he had done earlier in the night. He knew he had made a grave mistake, and he couldn't bear the thought of losing his friendship with YNN. So, he went in search of the YEC eyed girl.
Corey treaded through the maze of corridors of the backstage area, searching for any sign of the YHC haired girl. He searched everywhere he could think of from the clinical station to her locker room. He even stopped to check with Stephanie and Triple H in case they had seen her but had no luck.
When he finally found her, YNN was walking out of the arena with her left arm in a temporary sling. His guess was she was waiting until the morning to get it thoroughly checked out. The girl was known to push off going to a medical center if she thought the injury wasn't bad enough.
"YNN!" Corey called out to her right before she could make her exit. "YNN, I'm so sorry. I didn't know you didn't know that I was going to do that." He said as he finally caught up to her.
YNN rolled her eyes. "Of course, I didn't know, Core. " She said as she turned around to face him. "If I had known my arm wouldn't be in this death trap and I wouldn't have to go for X-rays at eight o'clock in the morning. All I was told was that I was supposed to score that match, nothing else.”
"YNN, I swear I didn't know. They told me to do it over the headsets and that it had been gone over with you and Leah." He explained with a guilty look across his features.
The YEC eyed girl sighed. "So, you really had no clue that we didn't know?" she questioned.
Graves shook his head. "I swear to it."
YNN sighed once more, the feelings of anger she held against the man subsiding. "I believe you."
"I didn't mean to get you hurt either. I'm sorry. Leah has already chewed me out for it too." He explained.
"Did she know that they were having you trip me up like that?" She asked.
Corey shook his head. "She's up there tearing them a new one right now and I'm sure that Steph and Hunter aren't too far behind her."
YNN's eyes widened at her best friend's words. "Are you saying they told no one but you?" He could practically see the steam pour out of her ears. "Those sons of bitches have something else coming to them when I get my hands on them."
Graves reached out and placed his hand on her unhurt arm, and like many times before, he started running it up and down it in a comforting motion. "Trust me, sweetheart, I have a few words of my own for them."
Just then, Carmella came running up to the two of them. "My god, YNN, are you alright? I saw your face when you landed, how bad is it?"
YNN shrugged slightly. "Med team said they suspect it's a fractured radial bone, but I won’t know for sure until the morning.' she said, which made Corey feel worse than he already did.
"Damn it, YNN, I'm sorry." He apologized. "I didn't think you would get hurt."
"Core, will you stop apologizing?" She asked. "I think established that it wasn't entirely your fault."
"Let the man apologize," Carmella said and placed her hands on her hips. "He at least could have given you a little bit of a warning before he just, you know, grabbed your ankle like that."
"Yeah, well, I kind of already hurt his ego a bit on national television so I think we can call it even." YNN stated and looked back over at Corey who just nodded wordlessly. "And, God forgive me, if they make this whole debacle into a storyline, I'll kill them. I don't mind wrestling my friends, I don't necessarily mind getting hurt and my ass handed to me from time to time. But I don't like that they almost tore apart a friendship that predates and will outdate my time in this business like they are playing Gods. It doesn't sit right with me. If he hasn't heard from Steph already, Vince will hear about this."
Both Corey and Carmella nodded at their friend's statement, knowing just how she felt. But it was Graves who was the one to speak. "Couldn't agree more, but let's get your arm better first."
"Right." Leah said. "Dumbass actions can wait. Your well-being is more important."
YNN nodded and adjusted the bag that weighed down her right side and Corey was quick to take it from her. "Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm ready to get out of here anyway."
"Okay. Let's get you out of here then." He said and led both the ladies out to the rental car.

Guiding Light
Tumblr media
Darkness enveloped me in its harsh embrace as I sat huddled in the corner of my locker room. I could feel the weight of the world, it felt like, bearing down on me. The voices in my head were becoming relentless and their whispers grew louder and louder with each passing moment. The heaviness of their words felt like an unbearable burden, and I didn't know how much longer I was going to be able to hold on. It was a battle fought alone, like so many times before, but this time, the darkness seemed insurmountable.
My brother, Cody, always the one to be vigilant and protective, noticed my internal torment. He could see through the façade I put up for the world to see and knew things for me were spiraling out of control. Cody knew all too well that when the voices ran rampant, it spelled trouble. So, when he noticed my state, he went to seek out the one person who he knew could save me from myself, my best friend, Randy Orton.
Randy had experienced similar battles within himself that he empathized with the turmoil that consumed me. As he entered the room, he didn't bother to turn on the lights. The man knew where I was, having done this very thing with me multiple times before. He also knew that sometimes the darkness provides solace, allowing me to confront my struggles without distractions even if it was terrifying at the same time. And without a word, Randy sat down next to me and pulled my now shaking figure into his hold.
We sat like that for a few moments before his calm and gentle voice tore through the loud whispers. "YN, the voices in your head, whatever they are saying, are wrong.” He said as his fingers traveled lightly up and down my arm. "You are stronger than them. You have the power to make them disappear."
His words were the lifeline I needed to pull myself away from the mental ledge I was standing on. A patient reminder that the voices didn't define me, that I was stronger than the darkness that tried to consume me. He was my beacon of hope, illuminating a path towards the light. I clung on to each word that Randy said like a person drowning clings to a life raft, desperate to survive.
Slowly but surely, my best friend talked me down from the brink. He had a way of reminding me that I was valuable and worthy of all the good things that had happened to me and all the things yet to come. That the darkness and the voices didn't get to win.
That night, like so many times before, Randy saved me in more ways than one. He made it known I was never alone in the mental fight against myself. That man was forever my guiding light, and I was more than grateful to have someone like him around for moments like this.

Be Your Reason
Tumblr media
Adrenaline coursed through my veins as I finished warming up in the serenity of my locker room and prepared to make my way towards the ring. My mind was filled with nothing but anticipation and excitement from the noise of the crowd the echoed throughout the backstage area. For a smaller live event like this one, the crowd really knew how to make theirselves known.
The event was in one of the bigger cities near YN’s hometown, which gave her the home-field advantage. I couldn’t help but be excited for her because of that. I knew she was going to kill it out there even though I didn’t get to see it. But little did I know, nothing about her match went as planned.
Stepping out of my locker room and was about to make my way down to the ring, Stephanie stopped me with a concerned look on her face. “Hey AJ,” she greeted, her tone full of worry.
“Hey Steph, what’s going on?”
“Something’s wrong with YNN,” she said. “She went out and about a minute later ran straight back to her locker room without a word. The poor girl didn’t even make it out to the ring.” The brunette woman in front of me explain and I couldn’t stop the immediate worry that had started to flow through my mind. “Could you go check on her? She’s not opening up to anyone else.”
I nodded at her question almost instantly. “Yeah, no problem.”  Without another word, I ran off in the direction of her locker room, my match with Reigns far forgotten. As I neared closer to the door, I desperately hoped that I would find her safe and sound within the room. I didn't know what happened but whatever it was, it had to be bad to make her ditch her match with Alexa.
When I opened the door, I found YN huddled in the far corner with a stream of tears falling down her face. I walked over to her with concern written on my face. "YNN, are you okay? What happened?"
Her trembling lip quivered as she struggled to form any words. Whatever happened out there had shook her up pretty badly. Finally, after a few moments, her words broke through their barrier, revealing just how much pain she was going through mentally. "I couldn't do it. Dad and Blake were out there, and I just panicked."
I was confused at the mention of her family being there. You would think that would have been something she wanted. "You freaked because they are here?" She nodded at my question and finally looked up at me.
The YHC haired girl hesitated for a moment like she didn't want to tell me. "They both have been so violent towards me every time I've gone home the past few months that I couldn’t tell you what bruises are from matches and which ones are from them anymore." Her confession hit me like a ton of bricks but not like what she would say next. "AJ, it's gotten to the point that I don't go home anymore. I'm scared of what they might do. I've been holding on by a thread and don't know how I keep going because without their support, I don't have a reason to do so."
My heart was now shattered after hearing just how bad her home life had gotten. I never knew about any of this. Never knew about the pain she was hiding behind the mask. No one did, I imagined.
Placing a comforting hand on her shoulder, I looked deep into her eyes. "YNN, you may not realize it, but you are stronger than most people, even me.” I said, keeping must tone soft and gentle. "You have so many people here, that you work with, that care about you. We’re here for you and to support you, whether it be in your career or your personal life. You're not alone in this or anything else for that matter. Let us be your reason to hold on -- your reason to stay strong and find your way to your happiness."
"How are so sure that I'm strong enough for that? I wasn't even strong enough to fend Daddy and Blake off when they attacked me." She questioned as she raked her nails down her face.
I instinctively took her hands in mine, pulling them away from her face so she couldn't do it again. "Baby girl, I've seen just how strong you can be, in the ring and out. There's nothing you can't do when you put your mind to it." I said and held her hand up to my mouth, placing a gentle kiss on the back of it. "This is just a bump in the road that you'll get over even if you need a little help."
"And you'll help?" YN asked; her voice filled with a mix of hope and unsureness.
"Most definitely." I answered without a second thought. "Me, Stephanie, Becky, Seth, and so many more. You can count on us, no matter what."
A moment of silence fell between us, but within that moment the tears stopped falling down her face. It was as if she had realized I wasn't going to let her travel this road alone anymore. It was then that I made my solemn vow.
Gently wiping the reminiscence of the fallen tears from her face, I said, “From this moment on, I promise to be your reason why. Your reason to keep pushing forward. YN, you mean the world to me, and I won’t ever let you go through the darkness alone."
She nodded, a piece of her YHC lair falling into her face, which I was quick to move back behind her ear. "I can't go home. I won’t go home."
I shook my head, my eyes never leaving hers. "You don't have to, sweetheart. Come stay with me."
YNN’s expression looked to be unsure of my words. "Are you sure? I don't want to be a burden on you."
"If I wasn't sure I wouldn't had said it, baby girl." I said and squeezed her hand. "I got you."
YN nodded once more and gave me a sad smile. "Thank you, AJ."
From that day forward, YNN knew she had a reason to keep going when she thought she didn’t. She knew there was at least one person who loved her unconditionally, no matter what she went through. That person was and always will be me.

The Explanation
Tumblr media
The loud thud of the locker room door slamming shut echoed through my mind as I watched YN retreat down the corridors of the backstage area. Before she hurried away, I could see the shock and pain etched into her face as she stood in the doorway in disbelief. The sight of her walking away, without saying a single word, broke my heart into a million pieces. I knew I had to find her and explain everything. Even if YNN wouldn’t believe a single word I said, it would be the truth and nothing less.
I made my way through the back area, trying to spot the YHC haired girl through the crowd. Panic welled up within me as I got closer and closer to the back door, realizing she had intended on leaving the arena all together after what she saw. My mind raced as I tried to catch up to her before doing so with all the different scenarios that could come from what transpired. The devastation of knowing how she must have been feeling was crushing me.
When I finally caught up to her near the back exit, her eyes in a downcast and head hung low, I knew I could let her leave like that. Not before I got her to hear me out and know what actually happened. I lightly grabbed her arm, stopping her mid-step, keeping my hand loose on her arm in case she had the instinct to jerk it away. YN turned to me with a guarded gaze in her YEC eyes, but I could still see the tiniest glimmer of curiosity show through.
“YNN, wait. Please.” I pleaded; my voice full of worry but completely sincere. “Just... Just hear me out. What you saw... Mandy and I... it wasn’t what it looked like; I swear.”
My little YHC haired girl raised an eyebrow; the look on her face now showed skepticism of my words. “Oh, really? Because it looked like you were jumping down Mandy’s throat. Excuse me for imagining that in full view. How could you?”
I took a deep breath as I gathered my thoughts. “It’s really not. Look, Mandy came into our locker room shortly before you came back from the ring. I didn’t know why she was there. She kind of barged her way in without warning. When is tried to ask her to leave nicely, she kissed me.” I began to explain, trying to keep my voice steady. I gently cupped YNN’s face with the hand that didn’t have a hold of her arm. "I would never do anything like that to you. She did it to provoke you. To try and get between us so that in y’alls match at Survivor Series all you would see was that in the back of your mind.”
YN’s eyes widened as she absorbed the information I had fed her. “Why? Why would she do that?” she asked, her voice filled with a mix of anger and confusion.
“I don’t know, Baby girl,” I admitted, still trying to figure it out myself. “But I do know is I would never, and I do mean never, betray you or our relationship in that way. You mean too much to me to even have any kind of thought of doing that.”
A painful silence hung in the air as YNN played back everything that had been said in the back of her mind. Finally, she spoke, her voice coming out in a softer tone than the one she used before. “You should have hunted me down and told me sooner.”
“I know and I'm sorry I didn’t. I panicked when I saw your reaction. I stayed until I got the explanation that I just gave you. I needed something to tell you other than just ‘It wasn’t my fault’ because I knew you wouldn’t fall for it,” I expressed, my eyes never leaving hers.
Her hesitation slowly faded, being replaced by a flicker of understanding. Placing her hand on top of mine that rested on her cheek, she gave it a slight squeeze. “I’ve known you for ten years, have dated you for half of them, and that’s long enough to know that I can believe you just by the look in your eyes. And I do. But if it happens against, I hope you know I will not be as easy to be convinced.”
Relief washed over me as I pulled her into a tight embrace. “Thank you,” I murmured against her hair. “I promise it will never happen again.”
“I’m going to hold you to that,” she stated as she returned my embrace by wrapping her arms around me. “Mandy is so getting her ass handed to her next time I see her.”
I chuckled and squeezed her tighter. “It’s warranted.”

Lose It All
Tumblr media
YN walked into the arena with three hours before Monday Night Raw started and headed straight towards her assigned locker room. Her mind was clouded with the different thoughts and emotions she had felt the past few months, so she kept her head down as much as she could until she could reach a safe place for her to let go of the false smile, she often wore these days. The girl was still going through the motions from the passing of her mother four months prior. Despite the way her performances in the ring being top notch, YN felt the void but continued to hide the pain beneath the stoic façade.
As she made her way to the locker room, she was startled to see that Cody Rhodes, her closest friend, was standing just outside the door waiting for her. With his trademark charismatic smile, he extended his hand to her and said, “I believe it’s past time for us to have a little chat. Don’t you?”
The YHC-haired girl hesitated for a moment before nodding and took his hand in hers as he led her into the room. The two of them settled down on the bench once inside and YN instantly started fidgeting with her hands. She wasn’t the type of girl that found it easy to talk about her feelings no matter who the person she was talking to was.
Cody leaned forward with his elbows resting on his knees as he tried to get a better look at his best friend, his voice was gentle yet firm as he spoke to her. “I think you know that by now everyone has noticed how you walk around like there’s a two-ton brick on your shoulders and, Babygirl, that’s no way to live. You don’t have to fight whatever is going on in your head by yourself. So, if you’re ready and willing to talk, now’s the time. I’m right here and more than willing to listen and help you get through it.”
Her eyes began to well up with tears as he reminded her that there was always someone there to be her listening ear. She took a deep breath and poured her heart out for him as she shared the pain she was going through internally and the feeligns of loneliness that had grappled onto her since her mother’s death.
The blue-eyed man listened attentively to every word YN had to say with nothing but complete empathy for her written in his eyes. He nodded as he offered words of comfort and understanding whenever she needed to hear them. With losing his father not too long ago, he understood what she was feeling and what she might have needed to hear. Cody also knew YN just needed to know there was someone there for her. He didn’t try to fix her pain because he knew there was only so little that could, instead, he provided a safe space in him for her emotions to be acknowledged and validated.
As the words flooded out, YN could feel the weight lifting from her chest. His presence alone was able to get through the day but his willingness to sit there and listen to everything she had ever felt in the past few months gave her the strength to confront her grief head-on. Something that she had avoided doing for the longest time.
After what had felt like an eternity of talking, YN had finished letting go of everything. She wiped away the tears that had fallen, even though she was sure there were more to come. Looking into Cody’s eyes, she whispered, “Thank you, Cody.”
“What are you thanking me for?” he questioned.
YN looked down at her hands that were still fidgeting with each other. “For being you. For being...” she took a moment to breathe deeply before she continued, “there just to listen. In the past four months, you have been the first and only person who has done that. Though I know that I have put on this brave mask and face the day like nothing in the world can tear me down, I’ve been needing someone to actually let me lose it all on them for a bit. I just didn’t realize how bad I needed that until now.”
Cody smiled warmly and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. “You don’t have to thank me for any of that. I was simply returning the favor you once gave me. You’re my best friend so that makes you family. Just remember you’re never alone in this, ever.”
YN gave him and slight smile and nodded. From that point on, Cody took it upon himself to periodically get her to tell him all that weighed on her. He had no idea how much it truly helped her through it all, but she appreciated it all the same.

Home Early
Tumblr media
As I stood in the kitchen, stirring the simmering pot on the stove, the sound of the front door opening caught my attention. I turned around, and my heart skipped a beat as I saw John, my beloved husband, walking in after a long two weeks away. The fatigue etched on his face melted away as he spotted me, and a wide smile spread across his lips.
"What are you doing home? RAW isn’t even over yet." I asked, my voice filled with equal parts surprise and delight as I pointed over to the TV that sat in the living room that was on the other side of the bar.
John approached me, his eyes gleaming with affection. "Yeah, I know. I just couldn’t take being away from home much longer. So, right after my match I hit the showers and got the hell out of there."
My heart swelled with joy, and I rushed into his arms, feeling his warm embrace envelop me. Having him back home was a relief. "Well, you won’t hear me complaining about getting to spend as much time with you as I can." I took a moment to take in the feeling of being in his arms once again. “God, I’ve missed you.
He pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead, his touch sending a wave of comfort through me. "I missed you too, sweetheart. So, what's for dinner?"
I chuckled, gesturing toward the delicious aroma wafting through the kitchen. "Only your favorite, homemade chicken Alfredo with a side of roasted vegetables."
His eyes sparkled with excitement. "You always know how to spoil me, don't you?"
I playfully nudged him. "Well, you deserve it. You work so hard and are away from home for weeks at a time most of the time. So why not make your favorite for you when you get home?"
His lips curved into a mischievous smile. "You really know how to make a guy feel special, don’t ya? God, I’m lucky to have you."
My cheeks flushed with warmth at his words, and I reached out to caress his cheek. "Well, it’s not like you make it difficult to do so." I said with a small chuckle. “You work so hard to supply us with what we need while being away for most of the year. You need praise too.”
Leaning in closer, John whispered, his voice filled with tenderness, "I can’t take all the credit. You’re the one that keeps me going. Without you, I would have quit doing this a long time ago."
I shook my head slightly, “No you wouldn’t have. You love that business too much to give up on it.”
John shrugged his shoulders slightly. “I’ve come pretty damn close before, not gonna lie. That was before I met you. Having you with me through this just makes it a lot easier than going at it alone.”
A sympathetic smile made its way across my face. “It is my job as your wife to help you stay the slightest bit sane.
“I do appreciate that.” With a playful smirk, John murmured, "And just so you know, after dinner, I have a surprise for you."
My heart fluttered with anticipation. "What kind of surprise?"
He winked at me. "I guess you'll have to wait and see. But I promise it'll be worth it."
As we sat down at the table, sharing a delicious meal and stories of our time apart, the world outside faded into the background. In that moment, it was just us, immersed in the warmth of our love and the simple joy of being together. No work, besides what was showing on the TV, just us. It was something I will forever enjoy.

Win For Her
Tumblr media
Dominik had always been passionate about wrestling. Growing up, he had watched his father, the legendary Rey Mysterio, dazzle the WWE Universe with his acrobatics and charisma. Now, as a rising star in the company, Dominik found himself on a similar path, but with an unexpected twist - he had fallen in love with YN YLN, Triple H's niece, who had become one of the biggest supporters he’s ever had.
YN had wrestling in her blood, just like Dominik. She had grown up around the business, listening to her uncle's stories, and watching the greats like The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and of course, her favorite, Triple H, make their mark. When she and Dominik started dating, it was as if fate had brought them together. Their shared passion for the squared circle was the glue that bound their hearts, among other things.
Every week, YNN would be in the audience, watching Dominik's matches with bated breath. She could see the dedication and hard work he put into each performance, and she was proud of how much he had grown as a wrestler. Dom, in turn, knew she was watching and wanted to make her proud with every move he made in the ring. In his head, he was only performing for her.
One evening, after a successful match on RAW, Dominik found himself backstage, catching his breath and wiping the sweat from his brow. Finn Balor approached him with a congratulatory pat on the back. "Great job out there, man. You're really making a name for yourself."
The younger man smiled, grateful for the support of his peers. But as he looked over Finn's shoulder, he saw YN standing there with her uncle. She was beaming with pride, and her eyes were fixed on him as she carried on the conversation with Hunter.
Feeling a surge of motivation, Dom turned his attention back to Finn and said, "Thanks, dude. I appreciate it." He gestured toward YN with his head before continuing, "I can't let her down."
The Irishman followed Dominik's gaze and nodded knowingly. "I get it, man. She's your biggest fan, and she believes in you. Keep doing what you're doing, and you'll make her proud every time you step into that ring. I don’t think she could ever not be proud of you."
Dominik's heart swelled with determination. He knew that no matter how tough the competition got or how challenging the road ahead was, he had YN's unwavering support. With a renewed sense of purpose, he headed over to where YN and Triple H were standing. When he finally got up to the duo, they stopped talking.
“Oh, am I not worthy of being a part of the conversation?” he questioned playfully as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
YNN shook her head. “No. Not at all. Hearing someone brag about you gives you too much of an ego.”
Hunter laughed at his niece’s comment. “Your aunt used to say the same thing about me.”
“Because it was true,” she said in a humorous voice. “I don’t remember a whole lot from back then, since I was a legit child, but I do remember that. Walking around like you own the place because one person said, ‘Triple H is the best there ever was’ or ‘Helmsley sure knows what he’s doing’. That was all it took.”
“You would know the feeling if you would get in the ring and spare with someone.” her uncle noted.
The YEC-eyed girl shook her head once more. “Nah, I'm good with just watching.”
Dom placed his head on her shoulder and asked, “Why not?”
“I hurt myself enough on my own. I don’t need a colleague to do it for me. Hard pass.” The three of them shared a good laugh at her statement. It was hard for either Dominik or Triple H to argue that point.
Even if YN didn’t wrestle, she was a great support system for the two of them. Dom was grateful to have her by his side and knowing that she always had his back no matter what move he made gave him the strength to keep going.

Pushing Away
Tumblr media
I sat on the couch in my living room, phone clutched in my hand and held up to my ear as I waited for my best friend, Trish, to answer. She had been the one I had always turned to when I couldn’t talk to my brother and today was no different. I had to get what’s been bothering me for weeks off my chest and she was just the person I needed to talk to about it.
“Hey, YNN. What’s up?” her voice came through the phone’s speaker, filled with warmth and a little concern.
I took a deep breath and decided it was best just to dive right into it. “Do you think I did something wrong? Adam hasn’t talked to me in weeks and it’s like he’s been pushing me away though I haven’t the slightest idea of why.”
“Oh, honey, I doubt you did anything wrong. You and your brother are like two peas in a pod. I don’t know what’s going on with him, but I highly doubt it has anything to do with you.” she replied. Her words slightly calmed me down. Trish knew Adam and me better than anyone else. She knew that there wasn’t much of anything that could cause a rift between the two of us.
“You’re probably right,” I said as I leaned back into the comfy cushions of the sofa.
“What brought this on anyway?” my best friend questioned.
I ran my fingers through my hair, my frustration clear in my voice as I spoke into my phone. “We used to be inseparable, you know? But ever since creative asked him to that storyline with Amy, he’s been... distant. I haven’t seen much of him at work, hell, he doesn’t speak to me much on the off days either.”
Trish let out a sympathetic sigh. “It is a pretty intense storyline. Not that I don’t think that they both can keep work and home life separated but, do you think I may have something to do with it?”
I shrugged even though I knew she couldn’t see it. “I don’t know, T. It’s unlike him. I mean, Adam normally tells me everything, but I can barely get a simple ‘hello’ at work and he’s been ignoring texts here lately. I’m getting shut out. So don’t know what to think as of this moment.”
Trish was silent for a moment, probably thinking over what I had just told her. “Have you tried talking to him about it? I mean the boy probably doesn’t even know the way he’s been acting is affecting you the way it is.”
I nodded to myself. “Yeah, I've tried. He just brushes it off saying he’s too busy to talk about ‘whatever it was’ with me.”
She let out a thoughtful hum. “Maybe you should give him some space. That and time is sometimes what people need to think through and get over some things.”
I groaned in frustration. “I know but I don’t want it to get to the point where he shuts me out completely. I don’t think I could live like that. He’s my big brother and he means the world to me. Been there for me when I needed him the most and I would like to think I've always done the same for him.”
Her voice was gentle as she spoke. “YN, you and Adam have this connection that nobody could dare to break through. Not me, not Amy, not even creative. You have nothing to worry about. Family always comes first.”
Her words did manage to bring me some comfort and a little bit of light during this glume party I was throwing for myself. “You’re right. You’re right. I guess I just needed someone to talk to and get some of this frustration out.”
“I’ll always be here to listen and help you keep your head on straight, YNN. You know I'm here for you. Sometimes you just have to remember that things have a way of working themselves out on their own.”
As I hung up the phone with Trish, I couldn’t help but feel a little better after talking to her. I knew she was right in every aspect of our conversation. Family was important and if I waited enough, time would fix what was not yet broken. At least I hoped it would.
Tumblr media
A few days later I found myself walking through the backstage area at SmackDown, adjusting my gear as I waited for my time to go out into the ring. The arena was buzzing with enthusiasm from the fans as they cheered for either Christian or JBL. As I walked backstage, I spotted Adam from a distance. He was walking alone which was unusual. These days he was always followed by Amy to keep face, but since he wasn’t it seemed like the best time to try and talk to him about everything.
Taking a deep breath, I made my way over to him. My heart was pounding faster with nervous anticipation with every step I took. As I approached him, I could see the tension in his shoulder. It was a stark contrast to the brother I knew and loved.
“Adam!” I called out as I finally caught up to him. He turned to me, the look of surprise in his eyes which he was quick to mask with a smile.
“YNN, hey,” he said, his voice sounding a bit forced.
The two of us stood there for a moment, the sounds of the bussing arena fading into the background. I had given it as much time as I could handle, but I couldn’t ignore the distance anymore. I had to know why.
“Umm, can we talk?” I asked, my voice slightly beginning to tremble. “I’ve been trying to figure out why you’ve been avoiding me, and I can’t think of anything. If I did something wrong, can you just tell me and put me out of my misery?”
He hesitated for a moment, glancing around to make sure no one was within earshot. Finally, he sighed and nodded, leading me down the hall to a much more secluded area.
Once we were alone, I couldn't help but let my frustration and confusion be known. “Adam, we used to be close and always told each other everything. But now it feels like I did something wrong and you’re pushing me away for it. Why? Did I do something that I'm not aware of? I’m confused.”
He ran a hand through his hair, his eyes looking everywhere but at me. “YNN, it's not about you. It’s not about anything you may have done wrong. In fact, you did absolutely nothing wrong. It's just... it's been crazy lately, with this new storyline with Lita and everything. I didn’t want you to get caught up in it all. Didn't want it to drive you crazy insane like it’s doing me right about now.”
I frowned at the words that came from his mouth. None of it was convincing me in the slightest. “Both of us have been put through some pretty gnarly storylines before but we always had each other’s back. So, why is this time any different from the last?”
My brother looked at me, his gaze softening with each passing moment. “It’s different because it involves Amy, one of your closest friends. I didn’t want to involve you in that chaos and feel uncomfortable during it all. I don’t know how long this will last.”
I blink in complete surprise. “Adam, you don’t have to protect me from a storyline of all things. That is on the top of the list of things I can handle very well even if it involves my friends. Because it’s just a storyline. What’s more important to me is that my brother is by my side when I need him.”
He sighed and finally met my gaze. “I guess I just didn’t want you to see me in that kind of role, especially with Amy. It’s been difficult to even think about and I thought if I kept my distance from you, it would be easier not to think about.”
I reached out and put a hand on his arm. “You don’t need to keep your distance from me because of all of that. I’m your sister, I probably know more about you than I possibly should, unfortunately, but none of that should ever deter the fact that we’ll be there for each other. Not even the roles you or I have to play for the job we hold.”
He smiled and the tension in his shoulders began to ease. “You’re right. God, you’re so right. I'm sorry for making you think you ever did something wrong and pushing you away. I should have just talked to you about it instead. I don’t know why I didn’t think you would be understanding of the whole situation.”
I nodded, relieved that we had finally had this conversation and gotten through the worst of it. “You’re forgiven, but you have to promise me you won’t ever do it again. Nothing comes between us. If it does, I'm telling Mom.”
With a chuckle and nod, Adam pulled me into a hug. “Yeah, I promise. From now on no more secrets and no more pushing you away.”

Hold His Hand
Tumblr media
I woke up this morning with a mix of excitement and nervousness about how the day was going to play out. It was SummerSlam Day, one of the biggest events on the WWE calendar. Though I wasn’t a WWE superstar, I was still a staff member who had worked closely with all the stars on the roster. Especially Triple H. Over the years, Paul has become my best friend and on occasion my therapist. Tonight, he was going up against The Rock, a great talent in his own right and Dwayne was definitely a crowd favorite. They had been building this match up for months and neither man could have been more ready than they were.
The match was one of the most heated matches I have seen in a while. Hunter and Rock went back and forth for a while on who was dominating the match. The crowd was roaring loudly in the background and were all on the edge of their seats, or at least I was. Everything was going really well, it seemed, but in a split second, all of that changed.
Dwayne had delivered the strongest spinebuster I had ever seen he had ever done. It was something that Triple H could normally come back from with no problem, but Paul wasn’t getting off the mat. When the cameras got closer, I could see the look on his face was etched in nothing but pain. The referee stopped the match completely and I watched as the medical team rushed down to the ring with a backboard and gurney.
My body acted before my brain could catch up with what I was doing, and I ran down to the ring after them. It was like I was autopilot and the only thing I could focus on was getting to Paul. When I got out there to him, the medics had just placed the neck brace on him.
I followed them as they headed to the ambulance that we kept on site for moments like this, Hunter held my hand the entire way to ground himself. We stayed locked hand in hand the whole way to the hospital. I don’t know who was more comforted by it, me or Paul.
Tumblr media
I sat there in the waiting room as complete nervousness raked through me as I waited for an update on how bad the injuries to Paul’s back were. When the doctor finally came out, he filled me in on everything that was going on and informed me about the road to recovery that my best friend had in store for him. She then directed me to his room.
I stood in the doorway for a moment, taking note of all the wires that he was hooked up to and how he was a ghostly shade.
“So, our Cerebral Assassin isn’t as indestructible as we thought,” I said as I made my way further into the room. “You really know how to scare the crap out of a girl, you know?” The relief mixed with concern was fully evident in my voice as I spoke.
Paul managed to give me a weak smile before he said, “Sorry, YNN. It was not my intention to make you worry the way I knew you probably were this whole time.”
I reached out and took his hand in mine, giving it a gentle squeeze. “You don’t have to apologize. Thing only thing I need from you is to get better and from what I was told, the damage wasn’t all that intensive. You just need to take the time to heal.”
“So, I'm told,” he stated with a small nod. “I was also informed that I have a great support system to go along with it.”
I smiled slightly. “Oh, do you actually think I would let you recover from this without me especially knowing how stubborn you are and wouldn’t follow orders to a T without me? You're funny.”
“So, you’re gonna play nurse now?” Paul questioned with a look of amusement written on his face.
I shook my head at his question. “Nurse? No. The best friend that is as equally as stubborn as you when it comes to helping the people she loves? Most definitely. So don’t try anything, mister. It won’t work in your favor. I assure you.” I warned the blonde-haired man that was lying in the hospital bed in front of me.
Paul managed to let out a small painfilled laugh but just hearing that made me feel a little more at ease than I was.
Tumblr media
Over the next few weeks, Paul went through some tough physical therapy and numerous doctor's appointments. It was slow and grueling, but he was getting through it all like the champ he was, and I was there every step of the way. Sometimes we would joke about when he returned to the ring, which helped get him through the majority of it all.
During the day I would help him with the daily tasks around his house that he was still having trouble doing. It never bothered me to help him. If it meant it was helping him recover, then it was worth it even if I was a little short to reach most of the things he or I needed. This led to being called “Shorty” or “Smurf” a lot. Which was nothing new.
One evening, as we sat out on the porch enjoying a nicely lit fire, if I do say so myself, he looked over at me with a grateful smile. “Thank you for being here for me, YNN.”
“That’s what friends are for. We take care of each other. Besides not many people are able to keep you in line.” I said with a loving smile of my own.
“Well, I’m lucky to have someone like you who can.”
Soon after that, Hunter made his return to the ring, and the Cerebral Assassin came but in full force. The look on his face before heading back out into the ring read of pure gratitude. Gratitude to his fans who cheered for him and kept him in the hope of getting back out there and doing what he loves.
I knew there would be a moment in time somewhere in the future when he might be in the same boat again. I knew there would be more times that I would need to be there to hold his hand again to ground the two of us. And just like before, I will be there every step of the way.

The Switch
Tumblr media
As I sat on the couch in our cozy home, my mind was in a whirlwind of thoughts. Shane had presented me with the opportunity to switch brands from RAW to SmackDown, and I couldn't shake the dilemma that gnawed at my heart. I loved the idea of spreading my wings, of proving myself away from the shadow of my fiancé, The Miz. Though at the same time, working with him every day had been a dream come true. I never had to go without him and to have Mike there whenever I needed him was just a life saver in and of itself. But this was a chance to prove myself to not just the fans and my fellow superstars but to me as well.
"Hey, babe," I began hesitantly, glancing over at Mike as he relaxed in his favorite armchair, a wrestling magazine in his hand. "I've got something on my mind, and I need your thoughts on it to really help me make my mind up on it."
Mike looked up from the magazine and over to me, a concerned looked on his face. "Okay... what’s you thinking about there, Babygirl."
I took a deep breath and leaned closer to him. "Well, Shane offered a chance to switch to SmackDown Monday night, caught me on the way to catering, and I'm torn. I mean, I love working with you on RAW, but part of me wants to see what I can do on my own."
He set the magazine aside, his expression thoughtful. "I get it, YNN. It's a big decision. But you're incredibly talented, and you've got all the potential in the world. If you think SmackDown can offer you a better opportunity to shine, then maybe you should consider it. No matter what you decide to do, I’ll have your back a hundred percent. You know that."
I smiled at his support, grateful that he was taking it so well. "Thanks, Mike. I guess I just needed to hear you say it. Although I'm still torn on what to do, I know whatever I choose I’ve still got you beside me at the end of the day.”
“You'll never have to worry about that, sweetheart.”
Tumblr media
I nodded, my heart racing with anticipation. "Sure, Stephanie. What's up?"
She led me to the quietness of her office, away from the bustling energy of the locker room. "I've heard you've been offered a spot on SmackDown by my dear brother. Now, I'm not rushing you to a decision, by any means, but I just wanted to know if you decided to stay here on RAW or not."
I took a deep breath, the words coming out with more certainty than I had expected. "I think I’m going to make the switch. I love it here on RAW, but I think it's time for a new challenge. And I’ve talked to Mike about it and he’s really supportive of it if I so choose it. I haven’t made a for sure decision but I'm strongly leaning to switching it up."
Stephanie nodded approvingly. "I think you'll do great on SmackDown, YNN. Your talent will shine wherever you go. Just remember, the door is always open if you decide to return."
As I walked away from our conversation, my mind was filled with a mix of excitement and sadness. I was going to miss RAW and working alongside Mike, but I knew this was the right move for me.
In the end, the choice was made, and it was a bittersweet farewell to RAW. I was ready for the new adventure that awaited me on SmackDown, to prove my skills as (Your Ring Name), not just The Miz's fiancée.
And as the days rolled on, I found solace in the support of my fiancé, who knew that while we might be on different brands, our love and partnership in life and in wrestling would never change.

By My Side
Tumblr media
I was pumped up and ready for my match on Monday Night Raw. The crowd was roaring, and the adrenaline was coursing through my veins. As I stepped into the ring, I could feel the energy of the fans fueling my every move. Little did I know that this night would take an unexpected turn.
The match started off great. I was giving it my all, delivering powerful moves and thrilling the crowd. But then, in a split second, everything changed. Liv Morgan executed a move that went horribly wrong, and I flew to the mat, arms out in front of me. When I landed, all I felt was excruciating pain going up my left arm.
I clutched my injured arm, feeling the same pain go up it as soon as I touched it. The referee quickly called for medical assistance, and the paramedics rushed to the ring. I could hear the gasps and worried murmurs from the audience as they realized the severity of my injury. The sound of Liv apologizing over and over in my ear let me know that it was so bad that she broke character because she was more concerned about me than she was about keeping face.
As I lay there, trying to fight back tears, I heard a familiar voice calling my name. It was my brother, Matt. He had been watching the match backstage and had rushed out to the ring as soon as he saw what happened.
"YN! Oh my god. Hang in there, sis," Matt said, his voice filled with concern. "I'm right here, you’re gonna be okay."
I managed to look up at him, my eyes filled with pain. "Matty, it hurts so bad," I whimpered.
"I know, YNN. But I'm here now, and we're going to get you fixed up, okay?" he reassured me, gently taking my hand in his.
The paramedics carefully placed me on a stretcher and wheeled me out of the arena. Matt walked alongside me, never letting go of my hand. The crowd's cheers turned into worried whispers as they watched us leave.
The ambulance ride felt like an eternity. The pain in my arm was unbearable, but Matt's presence gave me some comfort. He held the hand of my uninjured arm tightly, offering silent support as we raced towards the hospital. I tried to focus on anything and everything that wasn’t the pain pulsing through my left arm.
Once we arrived at the hospital, the medical staff quickly assessed my injury. It turned out that I had broken my arm in multiple places and would need surgery to fix it. The news hit me hard, and I couldn't help but feel scared. I hated the thought of any type of surgery. But I knew the probabilities when going into this profession.
As they prepared me for surgery a few hours later, Matt stayed by my side, his reassuring presence giving me strength. "You're going to be okay, YNN. I promise," he said, his voice filled with determination.
I nodded weakly, tears streaming down my face. "I'm scared, Matty. What if something goes wrong?"
He squeezed my hand gently. "Nothing will go wrong. But even if it does you know, I'll always be here to help you get through anything. You're strong, YN, and you'll come out of this stronger than ever."
With those words, they wheeled me into the operating room, and the anesthesia took over. The last thing I saw was Matt's worried face, his eyes filled with love and support.
When I woke up, groggy from the anesthesia, Matt was there, sitting by my side. His presence brought me comfort, and I managed to give him a weak smile. “Well, hey there big bro.”
"Hey there yourself, princess," he said softly, his voice filled with relief. “I told you that you would make it through okay. Doc said everything went perfectly and you’ll be action ready in no time.”
I nodded, feeling a mix of pain, from the anesthetic wearing off, and gratitude. "Thank you, Matt. i don't think I would have been able to make it through this whole ordeal if you weren’t here with me."
He smiled back at me, his eyes filled with love. "I meant what I said about being here for you no matter what. As your big brother, it's my job to look out for you."
And in that moment, I knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, I had my brother by my side. Together, we would face anything that came our way.

Sicky
Tumblr media
YN had been looking forward to competing in her first Summer Slam for months. It was all she could think about for the last couple of weeks and the anticipation was overwhelming but also welcomed. However, fate was not working in her favor. With just a little over a week left until the major event, she woke up feeling absolutely miserable. Her head was pounding, nose running, and couldn’t seem to keep anything she ate down, no matter how little the amount was.
After making the necessary phone calls to Vince and Hunter, she dialed the person who had been her hype man since the very beginning of her career, Dean Ambrose.
“Hey, YNN! What’s up?” Jon’s voice echoed out of her speaker, and she could hear the smile that had no doubt written itself on his face.
“Well...” YN began but was thrown it a fit of coughing before she even get out what she wanted to tell the man.
“Shit, YN, that sounded rough.”
“It was. It's been like this all morning.” she stated into her phone as she laid down on the couch. “This year might not be my year for Summer Slam after all.”
“Think you’ll be that sick for that long?” the man questioned after a silent ‘thank you’ to whoever he was talking to on the other end. “I mean you do have a week to get better. Just over a week, actually.”
“Maybe not this sick, but most likely I won’t be up to par enough to wrestle. I’m also not trying to get Becky or Asuka sick either. Hell, I don’t want to be the reason anyone gets sick, to be honest.” She confessed and pulled a blanket over her. “All that and H has done said my health is more important than the match anyway. Said to take care of myself and not to worry about it.”
“He has a good point there.” He said while it sounded like he was getting into his car. “Would it help if I brought soup or something?”
YN shook her head even though she knew that he couldn’t see her. “No. I mean, would I like it? Yeah of course. But I don’t think I could keep it down. I ate just a piece of toast this morning for breakfast, and it was back up within fifteen minutes. Plus, I don’t want to get you sick too. You’ve got a big match coming up, Mr. Ambrose. You don’t need to be as sick as I am either.”
“You’ve got hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies, right?” Jon questioned.
She knew exactly where the conversation was going and by that point, he had made up his mind. There was no way to get out of him coming over to take care of her. So, YN sighed, “Yeah.”
“Then that’s the end of the conversation. I’ll be there in an hour.” he said and YNN could hear him start up his car. “Don’t worry, sicky, I got my key. Take a nap or something.”
“Why you gotta be stubborn?” she questioned with a sniffle.
“Because I care. Now, nap. Be there in a little while.” he answered and added a ‘bye’ before hanging up the phone.
The YHC haired girl decided to take her best friend’s advice and get some sleep hoping that it would magically take some of the misery away.
Tumblr media
“I thought you were just bringing soup.” she stated, her voice was still scratchy, and everything seemed to be just as bad as it was before other than the pounding in her head had let up some.
Jon turned to look at her and shrugged. “I figured fresh would probably do you more good.”
She nodded and looked around the kitchen. The whole room, other than the small part of it that he was using, had been cleaned top to bottom. Dishes from the night before had been washed, countertops had been wiped down and by the container of Clorox wipes by the stove, everything had been sanitized.
“You cleaned the kitchen?” YN questioned with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes, sicky, I cleaned the kitchen. I’m here to take care of you and your place for the time being. Now, go back to being that cute and cozy little burrito you were when I came into the house and let me do my thing. Soup will be ready in 5 minutes.” the blonde-haired man said as he turned back to the pot.
Thought she wanted so much to fight him on it, YN knew it wouldn’t do her no good. So, she did as she was told and went back to her spot on the couch, wrapped herself back up in her blanket and turned on the tv.
Five minutes later Jon walked into the living room with bowl in hand. “Here you go, and I also got some meds for you to take after. Hopefully you can keep everything down long enough for the pills to kick in.”
“You didn’t have to do all of this, you know?” she asked with a grateful smile written on her face.
Jon sat down next to her on the couch and said, “No, what kind of person would I be if I left my best friend to suffer alone? Not a very good one, I can tell you that right now.”
“Thank you. Even though staying away from me was a better option that I know you would have never taken up, but I do appreciate everything.”
Jon smiled. “There is nowhere else I would rather be. Eat up, soup’s getting cold.”
