it seemed to be a NEVER ENDING cycle between them both: meet by chance, and then part ways --- repeating this again, and again ( much to his DISDAIN ). it was an attraction, however. something akin to that of a MAGNETIC PULL, as with every time he’d come into contact with her, despite his distaste of it, he seemingly couldn’t WALK AWAY ( maybe he couldn’t. maybe he liked the CONFLICT ). even now as she speaks ( it seems we underestimated you ), as easy as it would be to walk away, that PULL towards HER is as strong as ever; grounding him in place.

talk about nate and his drawing abilities. because he's a crazy good artist. so did he develop an interest in art when he was younger? or was it just something he did to record memories when he couldn't capture things with a camera? did he practice a lot or is it just a natural talent? how often does he draw? is it something he really enjoys doing?

nate developed an interest in art back before the age of ten - mostly due to sam having been quite into drawing back then as a means to make a distraction for him. once sam was kicked out of the orphanage, it was something that nate had picked up on his own as, of course, a distraction to the environment he was left in. it was something that could make him happy when he needed it most ( ie. after picking a fight with another kid and immediately getting scolded and talked down by the nuns ). that was very first step into keeping a journal with him at all times.

once he’d been taken out of the orphanage ( courtesy of sam helping him to escape ), and he and sam had begun to travel about more, then drawing had switched from a method of distraction to a way to document places, people, or things he wanted to remember– these moment usual captured along with a small side note, whether it be a detail specific to the drawing itself or merely a humourous remark. of course as the years went on and he traveled about more, it’d become more of a hobby for him, as well as a way to record important details about the locations he’d been and things he’d seen in the case that he’d need said information later on down the road.

it was definitely a talent he had to adapt to through numerous amounts of practice, as he was by no means a natural born artist – and even to this day he still finds ways to touch up on his drawing ability, usually in the way of including more detail, however minor they may be. though it might not be on a near day to day basis as he would have done during his earlier years, there’s still plenty of times when he’s in the comfort of his own home that one could easily walk into a room to find him sketching away. it’s an interest he’s kept with him for years, so of course it’s going to be something he enjoys doing.

❝ che ? ------ ajay do you copy ? ❞ words are spoken over comms, though no response is given ( or at least not one that she can hear between the chaos raining down upon their location ). they’d been SEPARATED by a bombardment and varying types of gunfire as numerous squads all met up in once space between narrow canyon way; the both of them having ( seemingly ) parted ways for the time being. in truth they could both handle themselves, they both had combat training ( even before having joined the games ) --- taking down entire squads alone due to circumstances as the current weren’t uncommon place for them, nor were it impossible.. but this was more than simply one or two addition squads here ( no, this was more like five or six all conjoined into one place, fighting it out ).

smoke grenade having been dropped at her feet to make for cover for her escape, she’s willing to take her chances with the possible straggler having the same idea of trying to avoid playing the seventh party, than fight her way through to sooner reunite with lifeline ( and risk getting downed and out in the process ). and so long trek around mountainous cliff is begun ( and as she’d expected, others had similar ideas to her own; the encounters leaving her with fewer bullets and even fewer meds and shields ).

it’d been a good several minutes since she’d reached point of interest ( having had plenty of time to resupply herself with what scraps they around from previous teams looting the place ), but all was quiet as she’d assumed --------- or at least things were, until she’d heard two sets of footsteps coming her way. unholstering wingman from her hip, she waits with back pressed to wall of building for them to grow closer; only stepping out once they sounded only several feet away and taking a shot ( only for a barrage of gunfire to finish the job from a gun that was not her own, her gaze drifting up to its place of origin ).

❝ --------- not bad, shooter. ❞ look of temporary confusion is quickly replaced with that of relief in finding squadmate being the source of aid. concerns are spoken by her, and anita can’t help the small smile that pulls at the corners of plush lips. ❝ i’m alright. had a couple of rough moments in between here and there, but its nothing i couldn’t take care of------ woulda been easier with you around though. ❞
