Okay, so I had a dream where I watched a video of people performing a cover of a new Oogie Boogie song. Problem is, said song doesn’t exist. So me, being me, decided ‘hey, why don’t I make it exist’?

Me who doesn’t compose music and has only written new lyrics to songs that do exist. mind you.

So this is the result - the melody of a new song for Oogie Boogie for a spin-off of some sort that doesn’t exist! Premise of the song and lyrics are under the cut. Please go easy on me. I don’t record music so I only focused on the vocal line... And I let my friend borrow my mic so I had to use my laptop. >.>;

PS. It’s perfectly fine to reblog this and give feedback. It was made for fun. If you wanna do anything with it, go for it! Just let me know either here or on @skeletonwithabowtie

Premise 

Hallowe’en hasn’t been doing so well due to changes in the human world. However, to the ghouls, it doesn’t seem that way. If anything, things starting going downhill after Jack and Sally fully established their relationship (thus cutting into Jack’s time to help organise the Holiday) While most remain optimistic that things will improve, some begin to feel disillusioned. Egged on by some new ghouls (I literally have ‘New Faces’ written here, so let’s go with that), these ghouls have been rallied up and brought to a meeting in Lock, Shock and Barrel’s treehouse. This is headed by none other than a revived Oogie Boogie. This, his ‘big bad song’, focuses on how he wants to help fix things by getting Jack out of the way. After all, he’s too focused on being in love to do what he’s supposed to do! By applying a ‘what would Jack do’ to the situation, Oogie wins over the residents, who agree to help overthrow Jack.

Well, well, well... Ain’t this a turn of events? You sure know how to make a guy feel flattered! Let’s get right down to business, boys.

Now I know it’s absurd but by now you have learned Things aren’t going so swell. The word from the dead is Jack’s outta his head (Which never goes very well) He’s made Hallowe’en second-best And put one thing above the rest. There’s one fact I know when push comes to shove: How can you scare when you’re in love?? The boneman has a heart but it all falls apart When you think about his mess. Hallowe’en Town’s big day will soon go astray... It ain’t easy for me to confess.

We need to dice an’ dress it up! Throw some new scares in by the cup! Beat out the old, fold in the new! Then seal it up an’ leave it to stew! We cannot hold back just because it’s ol’ Jack. It’s far too late to pick up the slack. We gotta throw it all in, give in a spin, It’s time we serve a dish of trouble! [laughs]

Now don’t take that the wrong way, friends. It just fit with the rhythm. [chuckles]

So your Master Of Fright had a terrible night Head over heels for that doll. He’s obsessed to impress, can’t get it off of his chest. He can’t see what he’s doing at all! I’ve been King I know what to do although I can’t do this without you. If I go it alone Jack will strike me down before I try an’ convince the tooown~

If we wanna make change we gotta rearrange The alignments of ev’ry ghoul. We gotta tell ‘em the truth an’ show ‘em the proof: Jack’s made them all look like fools! We play democratically, even boneman will see The he ain’t above the rules.

Then we take our chance to form an’ redouble, To strike an’ pop that delusional bubble. We’ll turn his legacy into rubble! Let’s put him in his place... with trouble!

I was going to wait and post this tomorrow, but I thought it made more sense to post it tonight, so people would have a chance to listen! So this is my take two of a one-girl This Is Hallowe’en!

Take two, you might ask? I actually did this for the first anniversary of this blog back in 2014, but I felt like I could do a better job, what with an actual mic and all. (I’ve actually compared the two and there definitely is improvement imo. I mean, the first attempt was covered with a headset and you can tell D: ) Mind you, most of the voices are the same as they were first time around with one main difference - Sally as the narrator rather than an attempt at an old man. We need to give our favourite ragdoll some love!

I’m sure this has been done already, but I forgot to check. I decided to write English lyrics to the very cute Mimikyu song. The lyrics were inspired by Japanese translations out there, so it should still match the original video. I also made sure the rhyming pattern matched throughout.

Well... It’s been a while since I properly recorded anything, and I spent a lot of the day trying to decide what to do. Eventually, I was reminded of Ashley’s song from Warioware: Touched! and wondered why I never thought of it before.

All the voices in this are mine. I’m getting better at hitting lower notes these days.

At last! I’m able to record again! During the last week or so of college, I was listening to the 2014 Annie soundtrack and I remembered how much I enjoyed the movie. In particular, I thought this song was brilliant and wanted to try covering it. Now the problem is: there’s no instrumental available for this particular version. Thankfully, Audacity saved the day! (Hooray!) There’s a little echo, but it’s not the end of the world.

'Want You Gone' - GLaDOS (Portal 2 ending song)

I've been listening to the two endings songs of Portal and Portal 2 for the past few days while writing up college work, so I decided to take advantage of some free time and try amy hand at recording it. Head's up to this video for posting a tutorial of how to make a robotic-sounding voice without downloading another program!

While I was on holidays, two big things happened. The first was that I went to see Aladdin on Broadway. The second was that I bought a microphone. These eventually combined into this recording. Now I still need to get used to it, but it's such a good quality mic!

The song is called 'Proud of Your Boy', and was deleted from the movie (which was apparently a very hard decision), but when they started work on the stage production, they thankfully managed to put it back in! In the song, Aladdin wants to try and be a better person, no matter how impossible it may be, so that his mother would be proud of him if she were still alive.

There actually is. Final quarter of the song. As I said, I've never spoken Russian before but I was learning the pronunciations from the Russian version of the song. You may not hear it well, and I am probably not saying the words right, but it is definitely there.

I honestly don’t know.  Anyway, I sing (in order) : English, Japanese, French, Russian. [Note: If you speak any of these languages normally, please forgive me. I studied French, I’ve sung enough in Japanese before, but I’ve never spoken Russian before.]

It's about time I did something new, and I decided to do a cover of 'Dumb Ways to Die' by Tangerine Kitty. It's known for the video of the same name. I download the Android version of the game a few months back and I love it so much. The song was just an added bonus for me.
