Trenton Doyle Hancock, African American, and his wife JooYoung Choi, Korean American, are both critically acclaimed American artists! Trenton makes prints, videos, drawings, sculptures, individual performances, and collaged felt paintings. He is well known for his artwork featuring the Mounds and the Vegans, two opposing forces that he created that represent the eternal battle between good and evil. Trenton has won numerous awards over the years and he was one of the youngest artists to ever be featured in the prestigious Whitney Biennial when he was selected in 2000 for the first time. His work has appeared in numerous exhibitions, storybooks, a mural at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium, and even a ballet. JooYoung is equally talented with her artwork through paintings, video, sculpture, animation, music, and installation art multidisciplinary world-building. She is famous for creating a theme she calls the Cosmic Womb, which is semiautobiographical representing her experience as a Korean adoptee in the US. Her artwork has been shown globally in numerous exhibits and media outlets including the Asian Pacific American Experience, the National Museum of Mexican Art, and the Korean Global News Network. Barry Jenkins, African American, and Lulu Wang, Chinese American, are one of today’s Hollywood power couples! Barry is an award-winning film director, producer, and screenwriter and is probably best known as the director and screenwriter of the 2016 Academy Award winning film, "Moonlight", and the director, producer, and screenwriter of the 2018 film, "If Beale Street Could Talk". Barry also directed the 5th episode of the Netflix series, "Dear White People". Lulu was born in Beijing and moved to Miami, Florida with her family at the age of six. She is fluent in both Mandarin and English. Lulu directed and wrote her first feature-length movie in 2014, "Posthumuos", and she also wrote and directed the critically acclaimed 2019 movie, "The Farewell" which did very well on the Asian Film Festival circuit and was released to general theaters in July of 2019. We are very proud of Rui Hachimura, Japanese and Beninese, who was just drafted #9 in the 2019 NBA Draft by the Washington Wizards in Washington, DC!! Rui is the first Japanese born player to be drafted in the first round of the NBA draft. Three other Japanese born players have either played with or been drafted by NBA teams, but none of them have had any significant playing time or results in the NBA. Rui will undoubtedly be the first Japanese born basketball star in the NBA and he already has a huge following in Japan! We wish Rui continued success with the Wizards and many blessings!
