Dark Dreams

Twilight: It has been surmised by great philosophers, that evil doesn't exist. Not innately, at least. Sure, there's Chrysalis, but the changelings learned how to love. Thus, they obviously have the capacity for it.

Twilight: Is neutrality evil? Neutrality is strongest in pure ignorance. A Hydra could crush a pony by walking through a forest, and all it knows is now has gunk stuck to its claw.

Twilight: Apathy is strange. It's "not caring" about things. A house is demolished to make way for a business, because the profit is greater. Trees are chopped down for a bridge, but the local wildlife isn't even noticed as the trees fall. These are some common forms of apathy.

Twilight: What terrifies me is intelligent apathy. Perhaps, deliberate uncaring would be a better way to describe it?

It hurts you BECAUSE you don't matter to it. It's not like a foal frying ants. It knows you are scared, and it doesn't care. You're just, in the way. Of it. And whatever it wants. Little more than sentient dust.

Twilight: And should you ever fall under it's gaze…

Twilight: You're gone.

Everything, just... Disappears. Layer by Layer, frame by frame, atom by atom. It doesn't matter what matter makes up you; it's turn apart.

... This is the fear that is the "Unnoble Intelligence," or "Unknowable", as the Armors call it.

It is so terrifying, no abjurer can counter its abilities, no priest can call a prayer powerful enough to calm their nerves, and even the mightiest warrior shakes and cries before it.

I only saw a sliver of it when it attacked. And now, I can't stop seeing its face as I sleep.

What is evil?

Is it hatred? Anguish? Uncaring?

Or pure hostility, for the sake of seeing others cry out in pain?

If evil never rests, neither shall good, no matter the strength of the evil.
