No, but Jacob never feeling worthy to be anyone's family just breaks me

We see it constantly with Augustus. He's so ready to claim Jacob as "my boy" and his son, but still we see Jacob constantly trying to earn his approval, which he didn't even need to, 'cause he already earned it years ago

Then with Maisie he just can't imagine why she would want to be a family. He doesn't understand why she would want him as part of her family, despite how he has shown her care and protected her from the start. Despite them bonding quite a lot

He doesn't realize how much people love him and he doesn't understand why they want him around 🥲

I'll never get over how protective Jacob is of kids on hunting ships because he was just a kid when his ship was attacked and of course he's terrified of the idea of them going through the same thing he had to :'(

I loved The Sea Beast so much  is it a perfect movie? no.  But it is like if you took a list of everything that makes me LOVE a movie and put it into one beautiful film.  Jacob and Maisie are everything to me

When the witch lady said Captain Crow would lose everything, I assumed it was just going to be the ship. Which, he did lose, but what really mattered was Jacob, and he threw it all away 😭

perhaps it’s the aroace spec in me, but i choose to believe that jacob holland is aroace and that it’s just him and maisie as a fantastic single father and daughter duo for the rest of their lives

the sea beast was WOW...the message of the sins of imperialism, of deep seated corruption & our right & power to challenge it, to fully recognize it, to speak up & fight against it...against systemic hate & misrepresentation...against propaganda & hate-mongering...against generational hatred & war...the message for kids that they have their rights & their individual power to change the world for the better...that they are allowed the depth to acknowledge the strides their predecessors have made while also seeing that their actions were only made positive by the negative circumstances which they, the new generation, have the ability to change, & to make kind; better for all in their future.

I really love the detail in the seabeast that when maisies in the infirmary, Jacob is giving her his blood. I dunno it just really solidifies that they're connected

Alright I’m seein waaaay too many of y'all startin to ship Jacob and that unnamed young sailor boy from the Inevitable/Crow’s Crew. Y'all that’s. that’s a child. a teenager. Sure, perhaps a teen getting ready to enter adulthood, but that’s still a teen. I get that there’s no precise like. set-in-stone ages for any of these characters, but you can tell by not only his face, but by the way Jacob treats him after he catches him from falling that he’s deemed a child/teen, especially in Jacob’s eyes. Jacob literally tells him to hide. The only other person he does this with is Maisie. Jacob has not given this special treatment to anyone else on the crew, the only two people who he’s told this too have been, once again, the unnamed sailor and Maisie. He wouldn’t and didn’t do this to any of the adults on the crew. I’m not even going to argue this point with any of y'all if you try to defend this, that’s a fuckin child. Stop bein weird. If you need to ship Jacob with anybody, please make a fuckin OC. (Also unrelated but semi-related, I don’t see ANY of you gushing over Jacob saving the bagpipe player or shipping them together, which I’m not saying you should or have to, but I think its pretty sus that out of the two people Jacob catches, those of y'all who are doin this shippin junk focus and cling to the skinny young teen boy instead of the fat older guy when it comes to your “potential shipping options” but that’s just my personal opinion <:/)
