There seems to be this idea that Mary Ann was one of the most "redeemable" Rat Grinders because she was never motivated by rage in the same way as the others, that she was kind of emotionally detached from all the things they were doing and was proven to be the same person before and after being shatter-starred. But I think, in some ways, that may be worse?

In fact, I think it makes her an incredibly interesting character that she didn't really seem to care about what resurrecting a rage god may entail. To use Brennan's words from the Adventuring Party, "her social life does not touch this school at all", which to me tells me that Mary Ann had NO investment in whatever going-ons the Rat Grinders have. It was a side-hustle for her, a gig to support her Animal Crossing business. I love that for her.

Just, Mary Ann being the type to bring about the end of the world and not even be paying attention because she's too busy feeding her Tamagotchi is INFINITELY more interesting to me. The others may have been motivated by hatred and rage to commit acts beyond their usual purview, but from the start Mary Ann just always had an all-encompassing indifference to whether the world lives or dies, as long as she got to keep her neopoints.
