one thing that i love abt the bear is how much carmy is unsuited to his career and how actively miserable it is making him 24/7…like rarely do you find a character so unwillingly entrapped in their narrative outside of like. the MCU or movies about the vietnam war

something interesting i noticed when editing that video is that in the episodes fishes when Donna taps/holds the side of carmy’s face, there isn’t a sound effect, but when carmy is remembering that moment during his panic attack, it’s played with the sound of a slap/hard strike. the bear always does really neat things with sound and i like how this illustrates carmy’s tendency to think catastrophically and how deeply Donna did affect him and damage him, but even then his memory is “worse” than the actual moment was…that even though she didn’t really strike him carmy feels that physical aggression, that hurt and that fear from her, because even just the threat of it/that feeling of instability has left marks on both his current state and his memory of the past
