Good Omens fic recs #19

Bark Dust by rfsmiley - A/C, 8k words.  Aziraphale and Crowley meet in the middle of the Saxon Wars, and when Crowley is injured with a blessed sword, Aziraphale takes care of him.  I'd say physical hurt/comfort is pretty rare in this fandom for obvious reasons, but this is a stellar example of it.

a lighthouse (burning) by books-and-omens - A/C, 108k words.  It's hard to categorize this fic -- it's a time travel story and a ghost story and psychological horror and also on occasion deeply romantic.  The basic story is that Aziraphale and Crowley travel to an empty lighthouse to investigate why the humans who kept it have disappeared, and then they get caught up in something wild.  There's a lot of hurt in this before you get any comfort, but it is worth pushing through.

One Night In Bangor (And the World's Your Oyster) by Atalan - A/C, 17k words.  Another very funny fic in the genre of Heaven and Hell having shared corporate parties.  The demons have a bet over who can get an angel into bed.  Crowley and Aziraphale use it as an excuse to hang out together.

come raise your flag upon me by trinityofone - A/C, 5k words.

At the end of S2, Crowley agrees to come to Heaven, and loses his memory when he is "forgiven," but immediately begins to cause trouble (like the demon we love).  This is NOT as angsty as you would expect, because sometimes you need some light-hearted amnesia, I am not kidding about this.  S2 wrecked us enough.

Greedy Ducks by orphan_account - A/C, 6k words.  In desperation, Crowley sent Aziraphale an email right before Armageddidn't, never expecting him to read it.  Thing is, after the world doesn't end, Aziraphale does read it, and it changes everything.

i NEED to know that kristen talks to bucky next episode. like the bad kids are obviously so very much siblings in their own right, but i NEED kristen to check in and make sure her younger brother is doing okay. there is so much shady stuff happening and i know it’s not kristen’s responsibility. but please, kristen “older sibling as a shield” applebees look after your brother once again

Actually constantly thinking about Fabian seacaster and like especially after this episode like bill seacaster is such a more active parent to Fabian even in death and it is so clear like Fabian is like oh my papa and obviously Fabian was always going to choose to save his mother in season 1 over bill and clearly that is the right choice and both Fabian and Bill think so, but the absolute tragedy that Fabian chose to save the least active parent who, even after saving her and sacrificing his father in the process, shows so little care and concern for him is insane. Like Fabian had to choose to save his mom but that’s so bad that like he literally saved her and she just continues to abandon him and like now he doesn’t get to have his dad that’s so sad for him

This post is so incoherent but I’m literally always thinking about Fabian and his complicated parent dynamics especially with Bill

Also I love aewlyn and Fabian together so much and constantly thinking about how Lou said part of what drew Fabian to Aewlyn was that she reminded him of bill like the implications of that is love to see them interact 

Also I wanna know how Fabian really feels about maesie and like how he would handle a dynamic that’s less chaotic also tho buying out a restaurant and paying huedal students to talk about him to make him seem cool but not too cool I literally love him so much he is insane also thank you Maisie for recognizing Fabian’s contributions (poor boy just doesn’t want to be alone)

Also fully support Fabian’s anti-sibling crusade tbh

the thing is like. as an overwhelmed teenager who was just killed by a system that didn’t protect them properly and wants above all to live, yeah i can see pledging yourself to an unnameable rage god, like you should be angry your school just shipped you off to die alone in the mountains on your spring break.

that said, given gorgug, kristen, adaine, and riz have all died and not pledged themselves to a rage god, i simply know that adaine in particular will see this as simply a skill issue

i know i talk about it all the time bc it’s one of my favourite lines from fantasy high but sandra lynn saying to fig “everything you’re going through is something that i get i was just like you” in light of her (most likely) being groomed by bobby dawn, with figs ill-advised interactions with older men in freshman year….. ya i’m thinking about it
