sarangbe:
the alcohol in his system has sarang feeling warm; the heat in his body rising to his cheeks and painting them over in a pale scarlet hue. ever since he turned twenty, he’s been indulging in the many varieties of alcohol south korea has to offer. some might argue that he drinks a little too often, but he convinces himself that it’s okay because life’s stressful, and sometimes, ending a long day at school with a shot or two of soju takes the edge off of him for the remainder of his night. he’s trying not to become overly dependent on the buzz, but for now, he’s enjoying himself — what’s the harm in that ?? that, and if anyone were to ask why he’s gone a little overboard tonight, he’d tell them that he’s celebrating a job well-done at the open mic. he genuinely thought he’d choke, but he didn’t, so he’s feeling particularly giddy. not to mention he also met a lot of colorful personalities at the festival, and he’s excited to get to know them more. maybe some more than others, but he’s not thinking about that at the moment. all he has on his mind is the fact that he’s hand-in-hand with his best friend, feeling high and loose, and in only a matter of moments, they’ll be collapsing onto his couch — catching up on rest and sharing the memories they made.
“ mmm, i did have a lot of fun !! ” he hums in a singsong rhythm, turning to meet his friend’s sightline; the smile on his face so wide that it causes his nose to scrunch. “ i’m glad you think so !! to be honest, i don’t think my voice is anything special, but it’s cute that you think it is. ” sarang sighs, squeezing onto alex’s palm affectionately as he guides them home. “ it really meant a lot to me that you were being so supportive of me in the audience, too. seriously, like, when i was feeling nervous, all i had to do was look at you and my nerves went away, so thank you… ” with that, he pauses in his place, then stamps a sweet kiss onto the other’s cheek. though, it’s also in this intermission that his comrade informs him of a temporary tattoo he received, and when it’s cheekily mentioned said tattoo is located on a particularly private part of his body, sarang giggles. “ ooh, well, i can’t wait to see !! why didn’t you tell me you were gonna get one ?? we could’ve had matching tattoos !! ” he jokingly chides, then picks up their jaunt where they left off; turning the corner that leads to his building.
using his code to allow them access, the door unlocks itself and they’re inside. “ oof, well, i… to be honest, i kind of did a lot over the weekend, and me being buzzed right now is not… helping me remember any of it right now. ” sarang admits, licking over his lips; silently thanking the heavens that there’s elevators that’ll guide them up to his floor. if he had to climb stairs in his current state, he’d be in for a world of hurt. when the doors to their lift open wide, he tugs alex into the confined space and immediately snuggles against him when the barrier closes; needy.
“ what about you, hmm ?? what did you get up to ?? you know, besides getting a temporary tattoo without your best friend… ” it’s all in jest and he hopes that alex realizes that; sarang’s head resting atop his pal’s shoulder as one of his arms loops around his waist. “ mmm… you’re warm, and you smell really good. ”
Festivals are places you’re meant to get drunk at, right? At least that’s what Alex has always heard. Perhaps he’s not full on drunk—definitely buzzed, though. It’s more fun this way, with the world feeling just a little wobbly around him, his legs only a little unsteady. He’s pretty sure he’s the more steady of the two, though it’s hard to tell as he holds tightly to Sarang, watching him instead of watching where he’s walking. He just feels lucky. Plus, he’s not blind, he knows his best friend is probably one of the prettiest people he knows, and he’d be wasting the opportunity if he didn’t look at him as much as possible.
“You’re voice is enchanting!” Alex doesn’t have the most extensive knowledge when it comes to what makes singing good, but to him Sarang sounded incredible, and he’d wished he’d been able to sing more than one song. “I probably should’ve danced or something, I’m not sure I did very well.” He laughs a little to hide the fact he’s genuinely worried he made a fool of himself. He’s about to continue speaking when Sarang’s lips meet his cheek and he has to pause to smile so wide his cheeks hurt.
“I should’ve, but it was a spur of the moment decision, and I couldn’t find you!” He had hoped to find Sarang to get them together, but, typically, his impatience and excitement got the better of him. “What if it’s just your name?” He jokes, wiggling his eyebrows at Sarang. “I suppose you’d have had to get my name, so as to not make me look stupid.” He continues as Sarang snuggles up against him. Instinctively his arm curls around him, holding him close. Affection comes easily to Alex, the desire to show all his friends just how much he loves them through touch is always at the forefront of his relationships. Yet, with Sarang, he’s even more comfortable—it’s as easy as breathing.
“Well, I sang a little song for my adoring audience, then I got a raunchy tattoo, ate so much I thought I might explode, and then drank some really good somaek while listening to people perform.” For a moment, they’re quiet, then when Sarang speaks again Alex smiles. “It’s my job to be warm so my best friend doesn’t get cold, right?” As the elevator stops, and the doors slide open, Alex reluctantly drops his arm back to his side and takes Sarang’s hand again, leading the way out of the elevator. The sooner they get inside and can lay down and put on movies the better—his feet feel as though they might fall on from all the walking around the festival he’d done.

bella notte.
Starter for @sarangbe !
What an eventful weekend. The past two days had been filled with excitement, even if Alex had had to forfeit an afternoon of work to make the most of it. It had been the first time Alex had ever sung in front of so many strangers that weren’t a bunch of classmates parents, and he’d loved it. It had just reinforced his desire to become an idol, even if he knew it was far fetched. But, if he had to decide on the best part of the weekend, it’d have to be right now.
The sun has long ago dipped beneath the horizon, and the night air has a sweet chill that cuts through the dense summer heat. The perfect night to be stumbling along the street towards Sarang’s place. Alex watches his best friend, smiling to himself as he takes note of how lucky he is to have him in his life. Maybe it’s the somaek talking, but he feels his insides bubble with affection and he can’t help but beam.
“Did you have fun, Sarangie?” He asks, squeezing his friends hand a little. “Your performance was incredible. You should sing for me more often.” He’d made a special effort to be there for Sarang’s performance, cheering and holding up a little homemade sign with Sarang’s name on it in sparkly gel pen. It was a little embarrassing now that he thinks back on it, but if it helped Sarang feel loved and supported Alex would embarrass himself a hundred times over.
“Also, I got this wicked temporary tattoo I wanna show you when we get to yours. I can’t show you yet...” He smirks cheekily at him, then bursts into a fit of giggles. Definitely the somaek. The temporary tattoo is, if he’s being completely honest, very near the top of his list of exciting things he did this weekend, right alongside performing for a huge crowd of people. He’d always wanted a real one, but time and money has kept him from it, so he supposes this will have to suffice for now.
“So, what else did you get up to at the festival?”

GREENPLUGGED MUSIC FESTIVAL July 10th, 16:30 Performance // 김알렉스
Performing ‘PHASE ME’ by Woosung [ LYRICS ]
He really shouldn’t be this nervous—he’s performed on stages before multiple times, especially since starting college. Yet his palms are still a little sweaty, and he can feel his heart beating so violently that he’s sure his whole body trembles with each thump. He wipes his hands on his thighs and takes a deep breath, adjusting the strap of his prized sea-foam pearl Fender Stratocaster. He’s never really just sung in front of people before, he’s always been part of an ensemble, or singing just a few lines on his own, and always in a dark theatre, so he can barely see the audience. But this is different; it’s the middle of the day, and he’s outside, in the sun, with his audience very visible to him, and he’s singing an entire song by himself. What if he messes up?
Alex had only decided on performing when he’d seen the flier for the event the week prior. A week really isn’t enough time to be fully prepared, especially as most of his free time is usually spent making sure he doesn’t neglect his friendships or his basic needs like eating and sleeping. He’d picked a song he already knew how to play, and had only had to brush up on the lyrics a little, yet he still feels underprepared. It’s just for fun, he reminds himself. This is purely to get used to being on stage, to practise interacting with an audience in a way that his college classes don’t really prepare him for.
He’d told some of his friends he’d be performing, so knowing they’ll be out there (or at least he hopes some of them will be) makes him feel a little better. He wonders what they’ll think, and suddenly he realises maybe his friends being there is worse for his nerves. Proving himself to people he cares deeply about seems far more daunting than proving himself to strangers... Oh no. He’s successfully psyched himself out, and just as he’s given the cue to go onstage!
Taking a final gulp from his water bottle and rubbing his palms on his thighs one last time he grips the neck of his guitar and hurries onto the stage. There are more people than he’d realised from his previous position beside the stage, stretching far back from the stage, all with their eyes locked on him. For a second, Alex worries that he’s frozen up, but then he manages a smile and a bow. He clears his throat, takes ahold of the mic with the hand not still holding tight to the neck of his guitar, and introduces himself. Then, the performance begins.
He starts plucking the strings, eyes passing over the audience. When he spots a few of his friends he can’t help but smile—maybe their presence will be fine after all. He just hopes they don’t think he sucks.
Honestly, it’s not a song about something that Alex really has any personal experience with, but he’s pretty sure he can imagine it well enough. For someone his age he’s got embarrassingly little experience when it comes to relationships, or romance in general. He’d never even kissed anyone, so he’s really got to pretend for this song; pretend he’s a someone who’s so far out of a relationship that he’s completely over it. It seems like a pretty ‘cool guy’ song to Alex, since he knows he’s the type of person who’d likely never get over someone, not completely at least.
His voice is steady, though it’s not a particularly challenging song to sing for the most part. A lot of it is attitude and pacing, getting the feelings right, and not rushing it. He’s got the added benefit of being able to say he sang while playing the guitar, which isn’t as easy as it looks. Without the drums though there’s a more intimate feel to the song, the guitar alone keeping it feeling, in a not entirely unpleasant way, a little empty. He known it would, but hey, he’s just one guy, he can’t do it all, and he thinks having a guitar at all is better than trying to make this song work just standing around doing nothing but singing.
For some people, that can work. Like Sarang, he thinks, who could hold his attention with a smile alone.  Some people just have an aura that entraps you, and Alex is pretty sure he doesn’t have that, so he’s got to compensate somehow.
The pre-chorus ends with a longer, louder, higher note that makes him lean back from the mic just a little, remembering when he’d practised with a microphone for a school concert years ago, and had noted how he’d have to control the volume that way on stronger parts of the songs. It’s the part of the song that he worried about a little, and he winces a little as he hears a slight strain in his voice. He pushes through though, hoping it wasn’t too noticeable to those without much musical knowledge watching.
The chorus is where he can’t rely on his vocal skills at all, he’s got to use his charisma. It was something he’d practised in the mirror whenever he’d had time throughout the past week. As he sways a little to the beat, fingers working at the strings and fretboard, he looks out at the crowd, realising that nervousness he’d previously felt had almost completely ebbed away as he’d relaxed into the performance. It was fun, being on stage, and he always forgot that afterwards, right up until he got back on.
The second pre-chorus he manages to get the high note clear and strong, relaxing into it as best he can, and the boost he gets from not messing up this time leads him into the final chorus, when his sly little grin tugs on the corner of his lips. He musters up the courage, even, to wink at someone in the crowd watching just before the song ends. It’s not something he’d ever be able to do seriously, but the song seemed to call for that kind of guy.
Then, it’s over, and he’s bowing once more to the audience and thanking them for listening before he’s beckoned off stage, and past the next performer, waiting nervously where he’d stood just minutes ago. Alex breathes a sigh of relief as he unplugs his guitar and packs it back into its case before taking a seat for a moment to let the adrenaline that he’d not even noticed flooding him on stage trickle out of his system. His hands shake a little, and he finds himself smiling—he did it.

a bad brew.
Starter for @beseonghan !
If there’s one thing Alex hates, it’s people who don’t appreciate what they’ve got. Growing up, Alex had nothing. He didn’t even have clothes that fit him, or substantial food for dinner. Life was hard, and now that it wasn’t so much anymore, he felt incredibly lucky, and appreciative of all he had. But some people just get handed things, get doors opened for them without them having to do any of the work that everyone else has to to get there. Which is why Alex hates Baek Seonghan.
To everyone else he seems nice, like a calm, organised guy with snazzy notes and a handsome face—but Alex knows better. He’d caught him in a moment when that mask slipped, when he’d revealed his true self, and ever since he’d tried to get him to slip up in front of other people, because no one else believes him. To everyone else, Seonghan’s not a two-faced ass, he’s just a hard-worker, someone who gets stuff done, someone who’s ambitious and determined. If it were true, Alex would have great respect for him, but why is it that all the best people turn out to be the worst?
One thing on his list of reasons to hate Seonghan is the fact that, knowing how much Alex dislikes him, he’s decided to make the Starbucks that Alex works at his regular place to get his morning coffee. Surely there’s other places Seonghan could get his morning energy boost—somewhere that didn’t consistently ruin Alex’s days. Today is like any other, it would seem, as Alex hurriedly swipes a cloth over the countertop, wanting to finish his shift and get out of there, when he notices Seonghan enter the cafe.
Just his luck. He’d been hoping Seonghan would be late, and Alex would have finished up his shift before he’d got the chance to make him question whether his job was worth not being able to throw a cup of ice at Seonghan. But, it would seem his enemy is to be his final order of his shift, as he had been many times before. He wonders why Seonghan still comes here, knowing Alex is going to purposefully mess up his order; because he absolutely is.
“Good morning, what can I get you?” He asks through gritted teeth as his manager hovers nearby, too close for Alex to forgo the standard greeting they have to say to every customer who comes in. It is absolutely not a good morning, not when Seonghan is around.

Hi there! I’m super excited to finally be able to get plotting with everyone! This here is KIM ALEX, a 19 year old studying Dance Performance at K-Arts. He also works two jobs alongside studying (Starbucks barista and convenience store employee), so he’s a pretty busy bee. He’s a very adventurous guy, and thinks life’s too short not to try everything, so naturally he’s a bit of a mess sometimes. You can find his profile here (★), and his history here (★). I’ll leave some general info and  plot ideas under the cut, but if you’d like to plot please like this post and I’ll send you a message! I also have a discord upon request!
—INFO!
Alex was born in Melbourne, Australia and moved to Seoul when he was 15
[ Unbeknownst to Alex ] He has half sibling(s) on his dad’s side, as when Alex was conceived his dad had a pregnant wife back home
He grew up very poor, so now is pretty money conscious—he will treat his friends a lot, but won’t necessarily buy himself something he needs
He lives in Dongdaemun-gu in a two bed apartment with a roommate, however he rarely invites anyone over (unless he’s very close to them) because he’s always too busy to tidy his bedroom and he’s ashamed of it
He went to Korea International School from 2018-2021 to help him transition to life in Korea easier (plus his Korean was pretty rough back then)
His teen years were full of ‘experiences’—he wanted to try it all, which included underage drinking and smoking, staying out late and getting into some mild mischief
Luckily he never got himself into any real trouble but he didn’t do so well grade-wise (unless it was in something artsy or sporty)
He partook in a wide range of extracurriculars in school—sports clubs, dance, choir, learnt the guitar and piano—you name it, he’s done it at one point
He hates to sit still and have too much time to think, that’s when his peppy personality gets sucked up by the vacuum of existential dread surrounding life, career, money and the fact he’s not slept for more than 5 hours a night since he was a child
You’d never really know he was struggling with all that he’s piled onto his plate though, as he’s always very upbeat and positive, and pretty easy-going with most people, plus he doesn’t like to talk about his problems—that is unless you’re a very close friend of his
Currently he’s working, studying, and trying his best to fit in time for friends around all of it (while also keeping an eye out for opportunities that might lead him down the career path he’s aiming for—being an idol)
—CONNECTIONS!
FRIENDS! he’s a huge social butterfly and will befriend anyone—he’s the type to make friends with his friends friends cousins girlfriends dog, so he could really know anyone tbh
Or enemies! While Alex typically likes most people, he’s got an issue with people who seem to have it all, or have easy lives, and yet still complain about it, or seem ungrateful—money (and those who have a lot of it) is a touchy subject for him
University connections—while he’s in the dance department, he’s 100% got friends in every single department
A roommate! Alex is comfortable money-wise, so he doesn’t live in a dodgy, mouldy apartment, but he does need someone to halve the rent with, so if you’re looking for a generous and considerate roommate, he’s your guy (just don’t look in his room at the end of a busy week pls, he’s not liable for what you may see if you do)
Someone who knew him when he was younger, whether it be a school organised pen pal, a family friend of some kind, or even someone he met online when he finally got access to the scary world of the internet
Romance—someone he had a crush on in the past, or someone who had a crush on him, maybe. Maybe even someone he’s got a trivial crush on right now! Thing is he’s horribly oblivious and even if your muse liked him/liked him back and made a move he’d never know. He’d need it spelled out with a whole ‘promise I’m not joking’ on the end
Someone he used to/still does go drinking with/goes on wild adventures with and gets into rather silly situations with (but creates incredible memories with at the same time)
