ppl will say “demisexual and demiromantic apply to literally everyone why is it a label” and then play smash or pass, see people on the street and comment to their friends how attractive they are, meet someone at a bar and ask them on a date, start talking to someone in the hopes that it will end up sexual/romantic one day
like bro. an actual lack of attraction until a serious connection has formed is not the same thing as wanting to get to know someone before you have sex or date them.

"tbh we might have clowned on [aros & aces] a lil too harshly" bigotry. the term you're looking for is bigotry. denying communities their vocabulary and ability to safely exist because you think you're the personal arbiter of which identities are "valid" is bigotry. minimizing and infantilizing and harassing entire groups of people based on their orientation is bigotry. aphobia isn't some forgettable phase of being cringe as a teenager, it's bigotry that inflicted long term damage to these communities.

it’s pride month so it felt appropriate to make screencaps out of the perfect scene in Galavant where an army of gays save the day

Anti-voting rhetoric will be the death of the left. Literally.
Not a single fucking Republican voted to protect roe. It was fucking overturned in the first place bc trump got three Supreme Court appointments.
Every fucking thing wrong in this country is almost certainly the result of Republicans being in power. In 2020, Texas cut half of the polling places in black neighborhoods, and doubled them in white ones, regardless of population. It was Republicans bitching about mail in voting, and constantly, constantly fearmonger about voter fraud. Literally, their platform is about making civil rights harder to practice.
Would you like to know why? It’s because Republican politicians know better than anyone that higher voter participation means higher republican loss.
But what do I see from the online left, champions of the oppressed?
“Voting doesn’t do anything, the parties are the same, the system is rigged, etc, etc”
Don’t sit here and tell me you give a fuck about marginalized people if you aren’t ready to march your ass to the voting booth and vote out the party actively stripping their rights away.
Protest, donate, community build, unionize, and vote, vote, vote.
By the time direct action is the only option, it will be too fucking late.

Asexual men deserve a space in the queer community, no ifs, ands, or buts.

As an ace person, and I know I speak for a lot of ace people when I say this, seeing a non-sexual but highly devoted relationship between two main characters meant a lot to me. I imagine it also meant a lot for aromantic people.
While I would still love the TV series and the book even if Aziraphale and Crowley were in an explicit romantic relationship, I'm really hoping that their relationship doesn't change. Idk it just meant a lot to me as it was and felt very validating.
A lot of gay people love to ignore and devalue the representation that ace people do get. Neil Gaiman isn't a coward for how he depicted Aziraphale and Crowley. As an ace person, it was mind blowing and kind of revolutionary. They are in a devoted, committed relationship that isn't explicitly romantic, and at no point is that shown as wrong or as something that needs to change.
Given there are at least three queer couples in Our Flag Means Death, do you feel a bit of a coward re: the first series of Good Omens?
Given that I was adapting a book that already existed for my dead friend and collaborator who had asked me to adapt it faithfully as a last request, I don’t feel bad about doing what he asked at all. And with the overall Good Omens story I don’t feel like I’m in any competition with any other shows. Perhaps you will find what you were missing in Good Omens Season 2. Perhaps not. Wait and see.

no one:
asexuals before realizing they’re ace: isn’t it weird how we call people “hot” when we just mean, like, pretty? it makes it sound like you actually feel hot when you see them. which isn’t a thing. anyway

god seeing people afraid to id as ace/aro because "what if it is just a phase? what if it is just hormones? what if it is just mental illness? what if I do find "the right person?"" makes me so righteously angry because I promise you, I promise no one in the community is going to revoke your aspec card on account of hypotheticals. if someone told you that then the stupid motherfucker lied to you. you do not look at water and go "well I'm not sure if I should drink this, because if the temperature drops below zero, it'll turn to ice." relax. let yourself just be. drink the water if you're thirsty. because it's water right now. doesn't matter if it'll be ice by tomorrow, or mist by next tuesday. it's water and you can drink it if you want to.
