This is a regularly repeating conversation that covers anything and everything. Lost an organ? Well, you didn’t ask. Secretly eloped? Never came up. Adopted a child? Well, I’m telling you now. Spent four months in an alternate dimension and came back ten minutes after you left? Huh, could have sworn I mentioned that, but to be fair it’s not like you asked.
And every. Single. Time. Batman is just like… No? It’s not? Why would I have thought to ask that?
Barbara tells Bruce it’s karma for never telling the Justice League anything. Bruce is not amused. Barbara proceeds to invite him to her wedding.
okay okay what if those holograms in young justice that get put up of dead members are actually connected to their life source and no one knows it until one day, when Dick is down there mourning his dead friends and brother, Jason’s hologram starts flickering. Dick now stares at it and gets Tim, Bruce, and Babs to try and figure out what was going on. It keeps flickering for days until it stops and turns off. They all try and turn it back on, magic and whatnot don’t work on it either, it just won’t turn back on. When they find out Jason is alive, they piece together how the holograms work.
On another day, Dick is sitting down, mourning Wally. When it flashes (no pun intended) and turns off. Dick races to go find Wally.
After Jon goes missing, Damian goes to the holograms hoping to see him one more time, but Jon’s hologram wasn’t up. He waits and waits until Jon finally comes back.
Tim, after seeing how the holograms have helped his brothers, goes down to Kon’s hologram. He sits at the hologram for days, it never changes. After being forced to leave and actually sleep, Tim then goes down everyday to check Kon. It never changes. Ever. Eventually Tim brings Bernard down with him, they sit and watch Kon’s hologram, unchanging.
"Bruce loves his children to infinity but sucks at communication" gotta be one of my favourite tropes.
What Bruce means: I miss you so much it hurts, you are a great hero, and I'm really glad that you still consider me as part of your life and share your thoughts with me.
What Bruce does: hums meaningfully in response to Dick's story.
What Bruce means: I'm sorry about everything that happened between us, I still love you and want to fix our relationship, I'm incredibly grateful that you don't avoid me.
What Bruce does: nods at Jason when sees him on the patrol.
What Bruce means: I deeply care about you, you are truly important to me, I worry about your health and I don't want you to repeat my mistakes, neglecting yourself for the sake of a mission.
What Bruce does: gives Tim a snack without any explanation.
What Bruce means: I'm very proud that, despite everything you were taught, you choose to be a good person and help people, you have a kind soul, and it's an honour to me to call you my son.
What Bruce does: gives Damian an intensive head pat.
Should I say that Cassie is a blessing?
They stare at each other's soul for a solid five minutes and it's basically a full ass conversation.
Okay so in most of my batfam fics, I use 1990 as Dick's birth year because
I, too, am a millennial and it seems right for him idk
I grew up on the Teen Titans animated series where that fits
It makes math for everyone else's birth years so easy omg thank you based round numbers
Today it hit me that given who Dick is as a person, particularly as a tween and teen, he would have been BLARING pop punk and emo and screamo from absurdly nice speakers both in Titans Tower and at home.
This leads me to an important conclusion: in the millennial Dick timeline, Bruce Wayne knows every word of the entire American Idiot album by heart and it was not by choice.
Part of the whole appeal is how they're just normal ass people without any powers, minus Duke, but still go out there stopping some major crime scheme.
Even better if you compare them to athletes or gymnasts, who retire in their 20's.
Has the batfam ever cared about this? No. So it's not stopping them.
And you know what would be even funnier?
If Bruce would be the last to retire. The one who started it all.
Plzzzz tell us more abou the yokai watch au 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
Well, i do have some ideas.. (might even draw them later)
How ingo gets the yokai watch!
Ingo finds a watch on a train going home. He assumes someone left it, so he switches tracks to return it to the lost and found box. He would hear voices, asking ingo to "wear" it. He cracks, and proceeded to wear it, summoning whisper!
How emmet gets the yokai watch!
At the scene of ingo's "disappearance", the police hand Emmet a watch. He recognises it as ingo's, and takes it home with him. In his grief, he puts the watch on willingly. Nothing happens! Though, the watch verrry is weird. Emmet fiddles around with it, and accidentally opens the yokai lens/light. Making Whisper appear! He seemed very surprised.
In this universe, yokai would have some sort of fascination for battle. Ingo would be the one to make the yokai-equivalent of the battle subway. Though.. ever since his disappearance.. someone else has taken over the battle subway.

Ever since the gear station was built, there has been reports of people getting lost on the trains, mistaking a station for another. Items vanishing, and making an appearance on a different line. Train conductors making wrong turns on the tracks, even if they swear they didn't do anything to cause such a detour.
Rumours say, the subway is haunted. They say, the one haunting the subway frequents in the abandoned tunnels and tracks. But it was never confirmed. This made the subway a tourist destination, despite it's unreliableness.
Emmet never believed in ghost stories, but Ingo was fascinated by them! He hoped to one day meet the subway ghost. Thankfully, he and Emmet shared the Train special interest, and both managed to get jobs as train conductors. Although..
