And weird things were happening. Weird enough that Nancy, her best friend, had been called in to help -- and Bess tagged along. If there was one thing in life Bess wished she had given more attention to, it was how to take care of one's car by themselves. She had just been so used to being able to call up George, her cousin, and she'd help her out - or even one of the Hardy Boys would give her a hand if they were close to town. Give her a code, she can crack it. Give her an Instagram photo, she probably can find who and where that person was and what day they were there. Give her a broken car that refuses to turn over stuck in a parking lot ON a rainy night AND her phone was dead? Bess was close to tears.

Looking around at all the closed establishments, she saw only one with a dim light behind its glass doors. Rushing over, hands holding her bag over her head as a makeshift umbrella, she knocked on the front door - despite the large 'closed' sign hanging below the shop's name: 'ENCORE RECORDS'.

"Hello?" Bess called over the pitter-patter of rain.
