the fringes of your mind snap back, tunnel vision of red retreating into the back of your brain for now. but its always there, lurking & waiting for your control to slip just a little bit. you don't tell the others just how fragile your control is, they know the basics. but what they don't know is how you tie your wrists and ankles in your tent every night. since alfira ... well, you can't take any chances.

tired eyes raise from the fire to the wizard standing beside it & the fakest of smiles splits across porcelain cheeks. ❝ just contemplating sticking my head in the fire and burning the parasite from my brain. i've survived this far, so why not chance a fire facial. ❞

you shrug, stand and dust the dirt from your butt, almost skipping over to gale and taking his arm. ❝ what's on the menu tonight , chef gale of waterdeep? i can't cook but i'm really good at chopping and taste testing if you need extra hands. ❞ with his superior intelligence, you don't expect gale to fall for your ruse of 'everything is a-okay!' but you at least hope he drops it.

a reasonable question considering you're coated in blood more often than not. its become a second skin to you, and although you remember nothing before the tadpole you know deep in your soul that this is nothing new. despite this, you feel oddly embarrassed at her question & you unconsciously wipe away at the speckles & rivulets of blood that have dried on your face. maybe you got a little carried away earlier, after all the shadow-cursed lands offer you the perfect opportunity to kill as your urge contents whilst remaining guilt free, knowing you're only slaughtering husks of things that have long since perished.

𝐁𝐇𝐀𝐀𝐄𝐋. an independent, private & low-activity writing blog for THE DARK URGE from baldur's gate 3. written as a companion character & diverging from d&d lore. temporarily iconless with no fancy graphics. about.

one. i'm really not familiar with d&d lore outside of bg3 therefore i'm keeping it relatively ambiguous for my own sanity. i try to stick to it as much as i can with my limited knowledge, but i take certain liberties and if that bugs you then sorry babes probs not the blog for you. two. nova is written as a companion character rather than the main, while i don't mind writing her as the 'leader' of the tadpole gang, just note that in my default verse she will always be a companion. three. unless your muse personally knew nova before the tadpole insertion, they have no clue about her backstory and true identity as the chosen of bhaal. the only people who would know her as such would be gortash, ketheric, orin, raphael and inner circle cultists. four. there are some canon aspects of the dark urge that i won't include in my interpretation, the main one being necrophilia. that doesn't exist here i am disgusted. however, there will be some heavily triggering themes, so please take care when interacting with me. i will tag everything accordingly so don't stress. five. i'm not gonna lie, i love romance and i love to ship but it'll only happen if our muses have chemistry and our vibes mesh. spice might happen idk but it'll be tagged if it does. ** i write nova as having been in a romantic relationship with enver gortash, its a big part of her history but i will never force this on any gortash blogs. six. these are super basic rules they'll get better in the next few days bare with me.
