Orientation guide for Fistulas.
First of all, Congrats on making it into Bolan Medical College. One of the most prestigious and oldest colleges in Balochistan. I know it was hard to get here but let me assure you the journey from here on will be even harder. So put in all your effort from the start.
Let's get on with orientation. So let's start with the basics.
You must be wondering...
What living in a dorm be like?
Living in a dorm sure sounds scary, well at least for those who are going to live away from home for the very first. TBH it will be a bit difficult at first to settle in a new environment, among new people but it gets easy with time when you make new friends and become accustomed.
Tumblr media
Living in a dorm has its own advantages like you will be able to build lifelong friendships with upperclassmen and classmates. You will get to meet people from diverse backgrounds and with different opinions that will help you grow as an individual. Having trouble with some topics? barge into a friends room and tell him to explain it to you. A win right?. You will find some really good mentors, get to enjoy student organized dorm events. Undoubtedly, you’ll make some of the best memories that you will treasure your whole life.
Though, Hostel life has its advantage but getting a room would be difficult. Why you ask? you will know soon enough.
LIFE HERE AT BMC
BMC ESSENTIALS:
The Meow: Now that you are officially a Bolanian. Let me introduce you to the Meow. So, one day you might be sitting outside the Cafe with your friends or enjoying your food and you might find this guy standing in front you. First of all don’t shush him... He’s a Bolanian too and is your senior so treat him with respect. same goes for ‘Muffin’ who’s his partner in crime and often accompanies him.
Tumblr media
Sports:
Here at bolan you can play all kinds of indoor sports and out door sports. There are separate grounds for Cricket, Football and Futsal. If you are into them. We've Sports complex where you can play badminton or tennis or any other board game. But imo board games like chess and ludo are most enjoyed when played outside next to college canteen in grassy. Because refreshing air coupled with Dew and spectators makes it even more enjoyable. Also we have separate courts for volleyball and basket ball right next to the sports complex. So you will never run out of options to play here at BMC.
Events:
Many different Events take place here at BMC, some of them are
SPORTS WEEK, which is the most awaiting event every year and goes for as the name suggests for a week all day long with matches taking place between different teams.
BAITBAAZI, The nerd playground that’s what I like to call it. if you don’t know what baitbaazi is. its a shayari battle?? :D you will get to experience all sorts of romantic, cheesy and cringy shayaris here. Do attend those.
Color Festival (Holi), The Festival of Spring is celebrated with great passion here at college, Everyone wear bright colorful outfits to celebrate it while in hostel many celebrate it by playing with dry color (holi).
Debating competitions, although rare but they do occur once in a while so cross you fingers and hope that it happens soon enough.
Societies:
Other than excellent education BMC also offers many student run societies that help to hone your skills through active participation in different activities and also serve as a platform to meet and engage with fellow like minded students. Some of those societies are
BUMHS Literary Club (BLC)
Tumblr media
BLC is a place where students could meet to read and write. It's the perfect club to join if are a poet or writer. Club members meet to discuss books and crafts or share their writings.
BMC PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB (BPC)
Tumblr media
If you are someone who enjoys capturing moments or best of nature or in simple words is into photography. This club might be a fit for you. Not only you will get to bond with other club members and learn from them but also showcase your work.
BMC PATIENT WELFARE SOCIETY(BPWS)
Tumblr media
BMC Patient Welfare Society is one society that I would personally suggest you to join. As it will allow you to interact with real patients and understand their problems, medicine is profession that requires very much interaction with patients the sooner you do the better. By joining BPWS you would be contributing to the growth and development of the society. You will not only be honing your leadership and networking skills but also be working with people of different cultures and giving your CV a chance to shine a little brighter.
Other than societies many national and international student organization have their local chapters established inside BMC.
THE BLOOD HEROES
Tumblr media
The Blood Heroes have recently started shining among the students. TBH is a completely volunteer run organization with primary aim of providing blood to thalassemia patients or those who require it but has also conducted many awareness campaigns to clear the misconceptions surrounding the blood donation. TBH has arranged multiple blood donation camps inside and outside of BMC.
