This method works on iPad and iPod touch as well. Follow these simple steps to use the DFU mode:
On your PC, run iTunes or Finder according to the version of the operating system you use.
Switch off your mobile device, iPad, or iPod touch before beginning the next step.
Connect both the devices (PC and mobile/iPad) with a USB cable.
After switching off your mobile, press and hold onto the On/Off button at the top of your device for 3 seconds.
Press and hold the Home button at the center of your device while holding the On/Off button from 10 seconds.
You will have to begin the process until step 5 if you find the Apple logo appearing on the screen.
After 10 seconds, remove your hold from the On and Off button but continue to press the Home button for 5 seconds.
If the “Plug into iTunes” screen appears on your device, then you will have to restart the procedure. But, when you find a blank screen, that’s when you know that your device has entered the DFU mode.
iPhone 7, iPhone 8 and iPhone X
The procedure for all these three mobile devices is the same until the fourth step of the previous procedure. The process changes further.
iPhone 7 or later:
Press and hold the home button at the center of the phone while holding the On/Off button.
Continue to hold both the buttons for ten more seconds, and then you will enter the DFU mode if you don’t see the Apple logo on the screen. If you see the Apple logo, then you will have to restart the whole procedure.
For iPhone 8 and iPhone X:
After holding the On/Off button for 3 seconds, hold down the Volume button along with it.
Continue to hold both the buttons for 10 seconds.
Release your hold from the On and Off button while continuing to hold the Volume button for another 5 seconds.
Your device will enter the DFU mode if you don’t see the “Plug into iTunes” message appearing on the screen. If the message appears, then restart the procedure.
Putting iPhone with FaceID into DFU mode
It also uses a lot of similar steps as above.
Connect your iPhone and your PC or Mac with a USB cable. And make sure that you have switched off your phone and are running iTunes or Finder on your desktop before connecting the devices.
Press and hold the Side or the On/Off button of your iPhone for 3 seconds.
While holding the On/Off button, press and hold the volume down button as well.
Hold both the buttons for 10 seconds and if you see the Apple logo appearing on screen, you will have to redo the procedure.
If you don’t see anything appearing on screen, then release the side button while continuing to hold the volume button for about five more seconds. If you see “Plug into iTunes” appearing on screen, then you will have to redo the whole procedure. If not, then your device has entered the DFU mode.
Your Mac or Windows desktop would detect your mobile, and it will begin to restore.
Putting iPad with FaceID in DFU mode
Begin with turning off your iPad and connecting it with your Mac or Windows PC. Also, start running iTunes or the Finder on your PC before beginning.
Press and hold down the Power button for 3 seconds.

FancyZones
