HEY YOU KID PSST OVER HERE
Tumblr media
Howdy. I'm going to just make an actual post for tumblr. My friends and I are creating a horror comedy podcast about three custodians who go around cleaning haunted buildings. We already have an amazing start and are now in the process of putting it all together! That's where we would like to extend the offer out to y'all. As of right now the project is volunteer based but we hope to someday be able to compensate people for their work. Right now it's a passion project I am my very small team are dumping our hearts, blood, sweat, tears, and even some teeth into.
If this is something you'd be interested in we are still looking for voices and some proof readers (and some other jobs may pop up as we go along) so feel free to reach out to myself or my co-creator @headphone-cat with questions or if you'd like the link to our production discord for auditions!| Any interest applicants must be 18+ we will be age verifying so keep that in mind.
We are so excited to share our project with y'all and look hearing from you!

Some of the folks behind my favorite horror podcast just recently started a new podcast called World Gone Wrong and if you like podcasts at all I cannot recommend it enough
It's a fictional chat show about the end of the world between two roommates currently living half the country apart and they're talking about things like how to werewolf-proof your home against your lycanthropy-infected purse dog and it's so funny but there's something so gentle and empathetic about it that feels so relevant to the way everything actually is. Even though they're talking about pod people.
There's only 4 episodes so far so it's a really quick listen, please listen to World Gone Wrong

A little-known fact about SPACE SPECKS is that not only is it representation for aspec people, it's also representation for directionally challenged people that can and will get lost in a paper bag.

She’s alive. I can’t believe it but she—
In the Carhartt—I, I put it on after I couldn’t go back to sleep and I was pulling it tight around me when I heard this crinkle—it’s like she knew—
It’s fucking chicken blood—
I’m sorry, I just need—a need a second, I—

How scary is the show? As a fellow Canadian and lover of ADs, Hi Nay has been on my radar for a while, but I've hesitated because I'm not generally a big fan of horror. I can handle some, but don't like being terrified. What level would you say the show is at, from "cosy listening" to "will give you nightmares"? Thanks! :)
I like to compare the scary levels of Hi Nay to that of the series Supernatural - the first three seasons are properly spooky, but then as it becomes more plot driven it's less straightforwardly scary and more horror fantasy.
In Hi Nay, we do some spooky sound effects here and there, but I don't think we'll give anyone nightmares~ I'd say, if you've listened to the Magnus Archives, that we're just a bit scarier than that SFX wise, but only for a couple of episodes. The scariest we get are Episode 1: Bulok (Rot), Episode 12: Pagbigti (Hanging), and Episode 25: Talikuran (Turn Your Back).
Each episode has extensive trigger warnings to help people decide what they can handle content-wise.
Most of the rest of the series isn't too spooky, though some may be conceptually scary. But I'd love to hear other listeners chime in as well about how spooky you all think Hi Nay is!
People call us cozy listening regardless of all this, but I think that's because of our characters 😊 They have a fantastic and compelling relationship, and they add a level of comedy and warmth that helps combat the scares.
Tl;dr It might help to listen to us in the daytime for some of our episodes, but the overall experience isn't just all scares, and I hope you get to listen and enjoy anyway!

Shoutout to OG radio audio drama
I am far too young to have been around during the true golden age of radio, but my grandfather always let us listen to cd's of his favourite audio drama's when we had to do long car journeys. They were from the 50's, they sounded so old and all the names were weird and American, which I wasn't familiar with. It was MAGICAL. Journey into Space (the dutch translated version) formed me into the woman I am today. I found it on youtube some time ago and it still gives me chills. My sister and I will still look at eachother and wisper-scream "Whitakerrrrrr" whenever something spooky happens, as a reference to this story we heard together almost 20 years ago in my grandfathers old suzuki.
I am so unbelievably happy we live in a renaissance and that in a way, we all come together on this blue site to listen to our favourite story every week, like families used to gather together in the living room to listen to their favourite stories. It's such a little ray of sunlight.

I woke up in the middle of the night—I’m still at Richie’s loft and I— for a second, I thought I could hear laughter from the other room.
When I was very, very small, my parents would have these two couples over for dinner once a month. They would play faro—which is an absolutely ancient game that my mom’s dad used to play with her when she was growing up and, I swear, my parents were the last people in the world to play it—
But anyway, they’d have their friends over and we’d all have dinner together and then they’d play cards until about midnight—or at least, it felt like they were up until late, but I guess I was going to bed so early then. But our house wasn't very big and my room was just off the kitchen, the only room where we had a table big enough for six people and I’d fall asleep to the sounds of their murmuring voices. And if I woke up at all, I’d hear that—their hushed laughter, like a warm breeze coming in from the next room.
That’s how I feel. In this loft, in Sylvie’s shop, in this whole city—like I’m just the next room over. Maybe I was just dreaming about the times we used to have in this loft, or maybe I really did hear laughter from the living room. Because I’ve heard things before—I’ve seen things. The man in the hotel room in Colorado—I think he really was there. I think our worlds overlapped, just enough, that we got a glimpse.
And maybe that’s happening here. Richie isn’t in this loft anymore, not unless he got out early, but there’s something nice, comforting, in thinking that this place, even now, with whoever occupies it, is still filled with joy.
