Apr 27: The Fountain Fight
Three cultists (half-orc, halfling, human) sent here to gather water from the fountain are locked in battle with two medium ochre jellies. It’s going poorly for the cultists. Their discarded buckets lie next to the fountain. The fountain’s spout is shaped like a retching skeleton with water pouring from its every facial orifice. The water is mildly unholy—drinking a cup heals an evil creature 1 HP. A non-evil creature who drinks any must make a constitution save or be poisoned for one hour.

Apr 26: The Clearing
Eight Chainbreaker cultists are breaking and clearing out the stalactites and stalagmites from this cave. Many are sporting bandages somewhere on their body, and a couple are missing fingers. The cultists don’t know why this is necessary, only that Idde (see [AREA]) believes it is, and they believe in her.
(Non-key rambling under the cut)
I realized yesterday that so far, this cult has an established strength of like five guys. This room is wholly an attempt to rectify that somewhat.

Brinefathom Caves: Level 2B
Rooms 2.31-2.32 (Week 3)
Rooms 2.33-2.42 (Week 4)
Rooms 2.43-2.53 (Week 5)
Room 2.54-2.62 (Week 6)
Room 2.63 (Week 7)
(Non-key rambling under the cut)
I said I'd have this up last week, but it turned out I had one dangling room that I hadn't inked or included in a weekly post. So of course I panicked and inked it at the library with the crummy pens there so I could scan this page, but I still didn't have a summary post for it, oh well.
This page should also probably wholly re-numbered. No dungeon that's even moderately Jaquaysed can have perfectly sensible numbering, but even by that standard, 2.43 is in a nonsense place by virtue of when I made it vs. when I made the rooms to either side of it.

Apr 25: The Risen Path
A 10’ wide line in the center of this cave stands slightly proud of the rest of the floor. Its long edges are inscribed with faintly-glowing magical symbols that glow brighter as a creature walks along the path (in either direction). Once the creature reaches the opposite end, the symbols flash brightly and one of the creature’s ability scores, chosen at random, increases by 2. This effect works only once per creature.

Apr 24: The Whispering Path
A stone pathway is suspended over a pit that appears deep that the bottom is shrouded in swirling mist. When a creature traverses the pathway, they can hear soft, melodic whispering telling them to jump off and must succeed at a Wis saving throw or comply. A creature who jumps takes cold damage, loses all memory of a (non-party-member) person important to them, and reappears at the western entrance a minute later.

Apr 23: The Stolen Scriptures
Idde Yolgem, a female dwarf with a left arm made of magical force, sits crosslegged on the ground in this cave, reading and editing a manuscript. It’s a stolen scroll from the Cult of the Chained God. The crates contain several more (some “corrected,” some not) plus a scroll of speak with dead that Idde hasn’t found.
Idde is calm, even if threatened, but is only interested in discussing her beliefs. She’s perfectly open and friendly toward anyone willing to listen.

Apr 21: The Leech Pool
Faintly-glowing moss clings to the walls and ceiling of this mostly-flooded chamber. Pale, strangely-shaped seaweed grows in the murky water, which reaches a depth of about 5’. The water is also home to small blind fish, harmless ordinary leeches, and three giant leeches. The Chainbreakers would like to be rid of the giant leeches so they can harvest other creatures from the pool, but they can’t spare the manpower.

Apr 20: The Dark Crystals
The large gray crystals that spike out from the walls and floor of this chamber glow with a dim light and give off a low hum. They are connected by an intricate network of painted lines and symbols. An elf cult fanatic (not immediately visible from the entrance) is touching up the paint.
He—and the rest of the chainbreakers—believe that powering up the crystals will help free the god trapped in the bowels of the dungeon, but in fact the crystals’ power travels up, not down: they are responsible for the rising dead on the first floor. If at least a third of the crystals are broken or a majority of the magic paint is scrubbed off, no more undead will rise above.

Apr 19: The Living Stalagmite
More large stalactites, stalagmites, and natural columns dot this cave. The stalagmite in the center is a roper, the parent of the piercers in [AREA]. There is a frost brand rapier behind a pillar on the eastern side of the chamber, dropped by a former victim.

Apr 18: The Living Stalactites
This damp, high-ceilinged cave is full of large stalactites, stalagmites, and natural columns where they have joined. Four of the stalactites are piercers that attack creatures passing beneath them.

Apr 17: The Chainbreakers’ Infirmary
A female halfling wearing simple cult robes and a bandage around her left hand, Lorella Gardener, is rolling more bandages near the crates in the back of this cave. She’s facing the entrance but paying attention to her work; she’ll yell for help if she notices interlopers. The crates contain bedding, strips of linen, and sachets of medicinal herbs. Another cultist (half-elf) sleeps in one of the cots. His shape under the blanket is odd—he’s missing half of his left leg.

Apr 16: The Chainbreakers’ Bivouac
A tripwire is strung across the only entrance to this cave. When triggered, it rings a set of bells that can be heard throughout the chamber. Three cultists (two humans and a dwarf) with spears stand guard, out of view of the entrance.
Much of the cave is filled with tents and lean-tos containing bedrolls and camping equipment. There is a natural spring in the south with a tin bucket beside it, and a clean, empty cauldron over a cold fire pit. The northwest corner has a rope ladder leading up through a narrow natural chimney to the surface.
