YOSHUA - SHORT FILM

Yoshua is a fantasy-drama short film written & directed by Matthew Castellanos about a nationwide hunt for the blue alien population "Tierra Amarillas," which is also the name of the rumored enchanted land they call home. The government has deemed Tierra Amarillas dangerous because of their mystical powers, but deep in South Central Los Angeles, a group of outcast teens are secretly protecting one of them, Yoshua. Now that the group is growing up and moving apart, they are forced to make decisions on how they will protect their big blue alien friend. Will they stay in South Central or flee? 

I had the immense pleasure of shooting 2nd unit on Yoshua in collaboration with Matt and his highly creative team.

Starring Otmara Marrero (Startup, Clementine), Aimee Carrero (Elena of Avalor, Young & Hungry), Johnny Ortiz (American Crime, McFarland, USA), Spence Moore II (Criminal Minds, Startup), and Kim House. Executive Produced by Margie Gilmore and Nina Yang Bongiovi (Fruitvale Station, Dope), and produced by Christin Mizelle. It is one of five original films developed, produced and distributed through the AT&T Hello Lab Mentorship program.

I had the pleasure of live-directing a TV after show for Disney’s Descendants 2 movie!  Our work included several live hits airing on Disney Channel during the commercial breaks of the premiere of the film, as well as a live after show with the cast of Descendants 2.  We had an amazingly talented crew on this with plenty of support from the Disney team, and it was a blast to work on!

In a collaboration with Airows, we took Cadillac’s high-powered CTS-V for a spin around LA, and snapped these sleek photos of this incredible machine.

“Cadillac was foolish enough to hand us the keys to a blacked-out CTS-V and let us go wild with it for an extra long weekend. Nicknamed “Cad-zilla,” the V8 powered ride hits 200 miles per hour while still having all the practicability of a four door sedan, letting you pick up the in-laws on the way home from the race track with ease.

Spinning around Los Angeles, we managed to snap a few shots between ignoring speed limits and taking this thing to its limits. Let's just say calling it "photogenic" would be a major league understatment...”

Working closely with AIROWS magazine, we created a brand new still + motion series for GQ highlighting creative living spaces in Los Angeles.  

First up, a tour of a sun-drenched loft in Los Angeles designed by Joe Sadler, the man behind menswear brand CWST and the creator of the iconic Coexist logo. We like to think of this project as "MTV Cribs with taste" and we hope you enjoy this look inside Sadler's beautifully eclectic spot.

Our next project is a tour of a laid-back and cool Los Angeles bungalow that's home to Mr. Daniel Corrigan--the co-founder and creative director of Simon Miller. We like to think of this project as "MTV Cribs with taste" and we hope you enjoy this look inside Corrigan's incredible spot.
