Still solidifying my idea of what happened to Red Velvet Cookie's arm that night, but one idea I had was something along the lines of this: he was baked with a twin. The dough of his hand and another cookie's had been baked together. When a witch went to grab one of them off the tray to eat, they ended up breaking off red Velvet's arm to separate the two cookies from each other.
