He dripped blood behind him the entire time • "We need Helion to get these chains off her." • Yet Elain didn't seem to notice them as she rose up on her toes and kissed the shadowsinger's cheek. • "This is Truth-Teller," he told her softly. "I won't be using it today—so I want you to." • I have never once seen Azriel let another person touch that knife. • Light and dark, the space between their bodies a blend of the two. • "He is Elain's mate." I waited. "It would be an invasion of her privacy to track him." • "If Lucien kills Graysen, then good riddance." • "Are we supposed to get the sisters presents?" • I felt, more than saw, my sister go still as he approached. Her throat bobbed. • "Sit. I'll take care of it." • "Wait until everyone is seated before eating." • I made to move toward her, but someone beat me to it. • "Oh, that's from me." • Elain smiled again, ducking her head. Azriel mastered himself enough to say, "Thank you." • Azriel and Elain remained in the sitting room, my sister showing him the plans she'd sketched to expand the garden in the back of the town house • "Because of the shit with Elain?" Azriel stilled. "What happened to Elain?" • No one spoke, though shadows gathered in the corners of the room, like snakes preparing to strike. • "I know. I helped rescue Elain, after all." • Azriel stiffened, an outright sign of temper from him as he said quietly, "There is an innate darkness to the Dread Trove that Elain should not be exposed to." • Azriel stood in the doorway, monitoring them. As if he'd heard Elain's sharp laugh and wondered what had caused it. • Then his gaze shifted to Elain, and though it was utterly neutral, something charged went through it. Between them. • A pretty lie. She'd seen Azriel before the fire plenty. But she looked at who sat close to it and knew the answer. • Because her mate had been in the family room and Azriel had needed to stay by the door the whole time because he couldn't stand the sight of it, the scent of their mating bond • Letting his scarred fingers touch her immaculate skin. • It had never gone this far. They'd exchanged looks, the occasional brush of their fingers, but never this. Never blatant, unrestricted touching. • He needed to know what the skin of her neck tasted like. What those perfect lips tasted like. Her breasts. Her sex. He needed her coming on his tongue -- • How that beautiful face might appear as he entered her, what sounds she'd make. • Elain bit her lower lip, and it took every ounce of Azriel's restraint to keep from putting his own teeth there. • Her arousal drifted up to him, and his eyes nearly rolled back in his head at the sweet scent. He'd beg on his knees for a chance to taste it. • Just this taste in the dead of the longest night of the year, where only the Mother might witness them. • Tilting her face the way he wanted it. • Offer and permission • "You can't order me to do that."

Well then maybe talk to the Gwynriels who make those rules for Gwyn and her trauma bc they’re everywhere on this app and others.

And let me ask you this, since SJM isn’t going to pit women against each other and use Gwyn for Elriel angst, she also isn’t going to use Elain for gwynriel angst, which is actually what the case would be since we already know Az and Elain have feelings for each other. That should be a pretty big clue as to what couple is and and isn’t happening.

Im glad we agree no one’s trauma should hold them back and I hope when Gwyn has healed and is ready, she finds love.

And what makes you think SJM is going to write that story and do it justice? If the power imbalance between a virgin fmc and non-virgin mmc make her uncomfortable, don’t you think her writing about a virgin fmc having sex for the first time with the guy who found her being raped might also make her uncomfortable bc of those power imbalances? Bc that takes a lot of care, research, nuance, consulting, and more to be written in a way that does the scene justice, but also in a way that isn’t harmful to real life survivor.

Im not denying SJM will give her characters healing and happiness, but just saying she didn’t set Gwyn’s character up to have her healing arc right now, her going back to the library and also having nothing to do with the actual plot of the books would indicate any Gwyn story we may get would happen later. I mean, she’s living in a women’s shelter and is so agoraphobic that she cannot even leave to see her best friends mating ceremony. So yes, it’s up to the author, and she clearly isn’t writing Gwyn’s story any time soon.

Please show me where I put “x amount of time” on Gwyn’s healing? The only one putting a timeline on things is you, and the fact you cannot see how harmful and disgusting that is just proves my point. The books have done nothing to set up Gwyn’s story, unless you think her healing is going to happen off page. Take it up with SJM.

This from the same people who have convinced themselves Lucien wants Vassa despite him not giving consent that he's interested in her romantically. After Lucien too suffered SA.

Gwyn is not real. She doesn't have to give her consent for us to imagine that a male she felt comfortable being alone with in the middle of the night with no one else around might be someone she is eventually interested in romantically.

A female who chooses to interact with Az during training, something you don't see with Emerie towards Az. Gwyn actively teases and seeks out conversation with him specifically.

She's shown more interest in Az after a few months than we saw from Elain after over a year. Looking at someone does not trump actually talking to them and that's about all Elain did in SF.

Using Gwyn's trauma as a reason to deny her the possibility of love in future books is an absolutely disgusting take in this fandom.

That's what healing journeys are about and trying to gaslight readers into thinking they're bad people for currently shipping Gwyn with Az just because she hasn't verbally stated "I want to sleep with you" at this point in the series makes you look like an enemy to SA victims, not an advocate.

Since this is a conversation you had with me, I figured I’d respond.

First, we aren’t the ones who have made Gwyn’s entire personality about her trauma. You guys have.

- Gwyn cannot be a Lightsinger bc of her trauma

- Gwyn cannot be angst for Elriel bc of her trauma

- Gwyn cannot do anything of ill intent bc of her trauma

- Gwyn deserves to find love bc of her trauma

YOU all have created guidelines of what her character can and cannot be based on her trauma.

What’s funny though, is you guys never stop to wonder if she is in a place where she would actually be ready to try a relationship. She cannot even be sure she can leave the library for Nessian’s mating ceremony. Healing isnt just finding a boyfriend, but somehow that’s the most important part to you all.

Like you said, this is a romance series. And I’m sorry, but I think we can all agree that SJM isn’t the author to handle something as sensitive as a healing arc that deals with the trauma of being raped. She said she doesn’t even like to write scenes of the female losing her virginity bc of the power imbalance (and no, unlike some of you believe, Gwyn is still very much a virgin).

No one is denying Gwyn love in a future book, but it is incredibly sad the the fans who apparently care about her most, don’t actually care about her healing, the timeline of that healing, or whether or not she’s ready for a romance.

As you said yesterday, two years has been plenty of time to move on from her trauma, proving that you don’t give a flying fuck about her trauma, her healing, or this story being handle appropriately. You just want her with Az

I wonder what actual SA survivors would think about the timeline you’ve given Gwyn, since this would be a book that impacts them greater than the average reader? Two years, time to get a move on, yeah? Healing doesn’t happen just bc you want it to, and this comment shows you do not want her story done justice. Gwyn going back to the library, back to her shelter, shows she’s not ready. Her giving zero indication that she is interested in currently having a relationship shows she’s not ready.

If you want me to believe that any of you actually give a shit about Gwyn, show me you actually care about her healing outside of getting with Azriel. You NEED her healing to take place bc you want her with Az, not bc you want her to heal. If you just wanted her to find healing and happiness, there wouldn’t be a timeline you were shoving down her throat. But hey, you need that timeline so all the kinky shadow bondage nsfw art y’all commission doesn’t remain creepy af, right?

And Gwyn may not be real, but her trauma is real for too many people. Considering that fact, you would think you’d want her potential story done with the utmost care and consideration, not just a means to an end to get her with Azriel.

I feel sorry for Gwyn that she has fans like all of you. And I feel even more sorry for any survivors out there who encounter your timelines and your pressures for healing without even the slightest consideration for where that person is on their road to healing.

The thing is...If Elain leaves the Night Court, Azriel will follow her.

Azriel isn't Cassian. Rhys's happiness isn't of paramount importance to him. Elain's is.

So if Elain goes, Azriel will go too.

If she goes to Spring, he'll be in Spring too.

If she goes to the Human Lands, he'll be there as well.

And if Elain is going to Hel, Azriel will be right by her side.

There exists no possibility of Azriel not being with Elain. He was the one who walked her out of the darkness of her own mind and he's be walking alongside her until the end.

Azriel in ACOWAR has me in a chokehold: How much power does Azriel actually have?

Azriel, having just rescued Elain, finds himself injured. He is ordered to sit out the physical battle and fight alongside Rhys with his powers on the hilltop.

Before the battle begins he arms Elain with Truth-Teller. Shocked faces and wide eyed glances from the IC tell us this is no small gesture.

While giving Elain TT has been hypothesized into oblivion I think it’s important in the overall context of this post and in Azriel’s roll in helping win this war.

“To my left, Azriel’s Siphons glowed—readying to unleash blasts to echo Rhysand’s. He might not be able to fight, but he would wield his power from here.”

“Echo”-interesting choice of a word SJM! 🧐 if he can echo Rhysands powers without full strength what would his power be like if he was fully healed?

Rhys panted, his eyes a bit wild. The hit had been well placed. Splitting the army in two. Azriel unleashed a second blast—blue light slamming into the now-exposed flank. Driving them farther apart.

Is SJM is setting this scene up so the reader has a side by side comparison of Rhys/Az?

“Rhys’s power flowed and flowed out of him, bracing for impact. Azriel’s Siphons flashed, a sprawling shield of cobalt locking over Rhysand’s, his breathing just as heavy as my mate’s”

Locking a shield over top of Rhysand’s…breathing JUST as heavy..

“It shredded Azriel’s shield. Then Rhysand’s. And then shredded any Siphon-made ones.”

Azriel shield was the first line of defense across the whole field…The blast shredded through the first line of defense (Az), then the second (Rhys) and then the third (siphon made shields)….WAIT-if Azriel’s shield wasn’t siphon made then what was it?

“Rhys only ordered him, “Get back in line. The soldiers need you there.” Cassian bared his teeth. “What the hell can we do against that?” “I’m going in,” Azriel said.”

Cassian, commander of Rhys armies, is casting doubt on winning this battle. Azriel, injured, and ordered to stay out demands to go in. Multiple times. Famously we get the line about flying with a damn tree on his back (🥵).

“Chain me to a tree, Rhys,” Azriel said softly. “Go ahead.” He began checking the buckles on his weapons. “I’ll rip it out of the ground and fly with it on my damned back.”

~no comment~ BUT this is giving “You can’t order me to do that.” (If he’s your high lord-what so you mean he can’t order you to do something?!)

“Azriel,” Rhys said quietly. Hoarsely. “You lead the remaining Illyrians on the northern flank.” Guilt—guilt and fear rippled in my mate’s eyes at the command. Knowing that Azriel was not fully healed”

He can LEAD an army without complaint -injured.

Cassian surveyed the depleted Illyrian lines, now holding strong as Azriel rallied them. “Az has control of the lines.”

He can single handily rally back control of the lines…

“Elain stepped out of a shadow behind him, and rammed Truth-Teller to the hilt through the back of the king’s neck as she snarled in his ear, “Don’t you touch my sister.”

And lastly, his own knife, outfitted on his (theorized) mate, is used to win the war.

This whole sequence has raised so many questions for me. There are other scenes in the series (“you can’t order me to do that”-“he’s always known me best”-even Rhys is scared of Azs icy rage”-Beron unable to stop him in the high lords meeting-etc) that call into question:

Just how powerful is Azriel?

What is his true heritage-related to Rhys? A high lord himself?

Did SJM juxtapose Rhys and Az in these scenes to hint at something?

Oh yeah….and he’s a spymaster/Shadowsinger……

Them: Azriel is over Elain! He said he doesn't have a mate and isn't dating anyone. He's not even thinking about Elain anymore by HoFaS.

Me: Tf is this then?

Why on earth would Bryce notice Azriel taking a pause to look towards his blade, something she knows nothing about, while talking about the death of the King of Hybern? This situation got so mischaracterized to say he did not give credit to Elain for killing the king. This wilfully ignores the entire context of the crossover, where Azriel is side eyeing Nesta the entire time for giving up too much information. He is intentionally being secretive (you know, as Azriel does,) and yet we have this on page nugget right here where he is actively thinking about Elain while he is speaking. There is no other function to bringing attention to Azriel looking down at Truth-Teller while discussing how the King was killed. And he intentionally did not say Nesta killed the king. He said she "removed his head."

Also me: Additionally- wtf is this then?

Again, there is *no function* to Bryce noticing Azriel listening closely to Nesta discuss whether or not she is happier being Fae now unless it is to add depth to his perspective and frame of mind. We already know his mind drifted to Elain during this conversation. What else is a major on page moment for Az and Elain? When he helps her recover from Amren telling her at the dinner table in ACOFAS that she can't ever become human again.

Azriel's heart was broken seeing Elain struggle to adjust to being Fae and potentially wish she was still human. His eyes were filled with sorrow. Then he calls Amren a lil mouse and Elain's eyes fill with light that Feyre will not see dimmed further.

Of course Azriel is interested in hearing the sisters discuss if they prefer being Fae or not. This calls back to a scene that has already happened on page, just like the nod to Truth-Teller.

He is still thinking about Elain. These connections are not a stretch. They are quite explicit and direct.

Just a small compilation of Azriel being an absolute gentleman and putting out his sexiest, girthiest husband energy when Elain Archeron is around.
