Dan Harmon says they planned to film the ‘COMMUNITY’ movie in Atlanta to accommodate Donald Glover’s schedules.

Following delays from the strikes though, Harmon says it’s unknown when scheduling will align for everyone for filming to begin.

New interview with Joel McHale

"That was a bummer, because we were getting very close” to filming, series front man Joel McHale told TVLine on Thursday afternoon, while promoting Season 2 of Fox’s Crime Scene Kitchen. “But at the same time, I’m a thousand billion percent behind the writers. The writers need to be paid.”

McHale affirmed that Community the Movie is “still going to happen,” saying that “when this strike is over, we’ll come back and we’ll make it. And I am sure that [series creator] Dan [Harmon] will put in 12 jokes addressing the fact it took [this long to come together]. But we’ll get there. It just make take a little while."

Chris McKenna: This is a sister to the Conspiracy Theories episode, which is one of our greatest episodes of all time, and if we were gonna put these two [Jeff and Annie] together for another caper we had to really embrace the idea that like, why are these two doing it? And if one of them is the Ass Crack Bandit then there's a sick, twisted need on one or both of their parts to really sublimate their affection for each other.

Alison Brie: Is that what you guys thought when you wrote it, that one of them is the Ass Crack Bandit?

Dan Harmon: Yes.

Alison Brie: [GASP] Who? Annie?

Dan Harmon: Well first and foremost Annie, yeah. She's the one that, she has an obsession with justice. There was a lot of spit-drafts with huge monologues about an experience you have in grade school where a gerbil died because you didn't do anything about it, but also your obsession with fairness and justice is because bad people get away with bad things, whereas you put it upon yourself to be a good person.

COMMUNITY MOVIE UPDATES : No Good new about the start date of filming ( so maybe no June )

Interviewer : One-hundred percent, and we stand with the writers as well. Before I let you go, I want to ask about the Community movie and if there’s any filming update, especially with the writer’s strike most respectively factored in.

JOEL : I’m not exactly sure, but I’m guessing it’s not going to start on time.

Also they asked about Pedro Pascal .

Interviewer : Can you tell us anything about what we can expect from the movie? And I’m also asking selfishly because I would love to see Pedro Pascal in it after that hilarious pandemic table read. Maybe another variation of Walton Goggins’ Mr. Stone.

McHALE: You mean the busiest actor in history right now?

Bad news 😬.

I just read an interview of this month with Alison where she's not sure they're starting in the summer.

and they still haven't received a script (and they still need to coordinate their schedules) 😭

Edit: he mentioned that dinner with danny happened a week ago and that the fans went crazy when they found out about it. That happened on January 16. So this interview was done on January 23rd. Alison mentioned around February 3rd that she hadn't read a script yet. So by January there still wasn't a script but maybe now there is.
